Tama auto on varustettu elektronisesti ohjatulla suihkutusjar­
jestelmalla, joka saatelee automaattisesti polttoaineen maaran.
Kaynnistaessasi
moottoria ala paina kaasupoljinta.
1 . Veda kasijarru paalle.
2 . Kasivalitteisella vainteistolla varustetussa autossa siirretaan
vainde "
N" asentoon (vapaalle) ja kytkin painetaan poh­
jaan . Automaattivaihteisessa autossa sarretaan vaihteenva ­
litsin
"P" asentoon .
3 . Kaynnista moottori painamatta kaasupoljinta .
HUOM Mikali moottori on saanut liikaa polttoainetta, pyorita moottoria 5 -6 sekuntia kaasupoljin pohjaan painettuna. Kaynnista moot­tori taman
jalkeen koskematta kaasupolkimeen.
Erittain kylmassa ympariston lampotilassa
Jos moottori ei tahdo kaynnistya, painakaa kaasutinpoljinta
noin puolivaliin saakka samalla kun yritatte kaynnistaa mootto­ria. Heti kun moottori kaynnistyy, vapauttakaa kaasutinpoljin.

Petrol-powered vehicles
This vehicle is equipped with an electronically controlled
injection device and fuel injection amount is automatically controlled. When starting the engine, do ot depress the accel ­
erator pedal.
1 .
Apply the parking brake.
2 . On vehicles with a manual transmission , move the gearshift lever to the "N" position (Neutral) and depress the clutch pedal all the way. On vehicles with an automatic transmis ­
sion, move the selector lever to the "P" position. 3 . Start the engine without depressing the accelerator pedal.
NOTE
If the engine has become flooded during starting , first operate
the starter for 5 or 6 seconds while depressing the accelerator
pedal fully, and then start the engine without depressing the
accelerator pedal.
At extreme cold ambient temperature
If the engine won't start, depress the accelerator pedal about halfway during cranking the engine. Once the engine starts,
release the accelerator pedal.

joissa on automaattivaihtesto, slirretaan valitsinvipu "P"­asentoon. 3. Kayttakaa kaasupoljinta seuraavasti:
(1) Kin ilman lampbtila on normaali tai moottori lammin kayn­
nistakaa
moottori painamatta kaasupoljinta. (2) Kun ilman lampbtila on matala ja moottori on kylma
kaynnistakaa moottori samalla painaen kaasupoljinta . 11-man lampbtilan ollessa hyvin matala kaynnistyy moottori helpommin jos virta-avaimen kaantaa "ON" asentoon
muutamaksi sekunniksi ennenkuin moottori kaynnistetaan.

kivalo
1. Pankaa pysakbintijarru paalle. 2. Ajoneuvoissa joissa on kasivaihteisto, siirretaan vaihdevipu
vapaalle ja painetaan kytkin aivan pohjaan . Ajoneuvoissa
joissa on automaattivhteisto, slirr etaan valitsinvipu "P"­asentoon.
3 . Kaantakaa virta-avain ON asentoon . Dieselin esilam­
mityksen merkkivalo palaa ensin punaisena ,
muuttuen het­
ken kuluttui vihreaksi merkiksi siita, etta esilammitys on
suoritettu.
Diesel-powered vehicles EI02S·K
Vehicles not equipped with diesel preheat indica­
tion lamp
1 . Apply the parking brake.
2. On vehicles with a manual transmission , move the gearshift
lever to neutral and depress the clutch pedal all the way. On
vehicles with an automatic transmi ssion, move the selector
lever to the" P" position . 3. Operate the accelerator pedal as described below in accor­
dance with the atmospheric temperature and/or engine condition and then start the engine .
(1) When the atmospheric temperature is moderate or the
engine is warm , start the engine without depressing the
accelerator pedal.
(2) When the atmospheric temperature is low and the engine is cold, start the engine while depressing the accelerator
pedal. If the atmospheric temperature is very low, setting
the ignition switch to ON for one or two seconds before attempting to start the engine will make it easier to start
Vehicles equipped with the diesel preheat indication
lamp
1. Apply the parking brake. 2. On vehicles with a manual transmission , move the gearshift
lever to neutral and depress the clutch pedal all the way. On
vehicles with an automatic transmission , move the selector
lever to the" P" position .
3. Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position. The diesel­
preheat indication lamp will first illuminate in red , and then
after a short time change
to green, indicating that preheat­
ing is completed.

Kasivalintainen vaihteisto
Vaihdekaava on merkitty vaihdetangon nuppiin. Paina kytkinpoljin pohjaan
saakka joka kerran vaihtaessasi. Viitos­
vaihteelta peruutusvaihteelle vaihtaes­
sasi siirra vaihde ensin
N-asentoon (va­paalle) ja sitten peruutusvaihteelle .
& VAROITUS Ala koskaan vaihda peruutusvaih­teelle auton ·liikkuessa eteenpain;
se
vahingoittaa vaihteistoa.
NOTE
The knob should be pulled out to the extent that it returns less
then about 10 mm (0. 4 in.) from the fully pulled out position. If the knob doesn't move freely enough, or returns more than 10 mm (0.4 in.), adjust by turning the holder cap.
& CAUTION Never attempt to adjust the vehicle during driving by using the control knob.

The shift pattern is shown on the gear ­shift lever knob. Be sure to always fully depress the clutch pedal before attempt­ing to shift the lever. To shift into revers e from 5th gear, move the gearshift lever to the "N" position,
and then shift it into reverse .
& CAUTION Do not move the gearshift lever into reverse while the vehicle is
moving forward; doing so will damage the transmission .

2-SECOND This position is for extra power when driving up moderately
steep hills, and for engine braking when descending moder­
ately steep grades.
L-LOW This position is for driving up very steep hills and for engine braking at low speeds when descending steep grades .

Overdrive control switch EI04C·Ba
During ordinary driving, the overdrive switch should be left in the pressed-in
position (the indication lamp in the in­
strument panel is off). Automatic shifting will be performed in
the range from 1 st gear through 4th gear if the selector lever is set at "0 ".
When you need quick acceleration or engine braking power on a downhill grade , or when you are going to go up a
long hill, press the overdrive switch once again to cancel the overdrive function. The indication lamp in the instrument panel lights up and automatic shifting will be performed in the range from 1 st
gear through 3rd gear only.

The lever can be operated between these positions while the vehicle is either
stopped or moving. In case the opera­tion is to be made while the vehicle is moving, ope rate the lever after easing
the accelerator pedal with the vehicle running straight ahead.
NOTE Shifting of the lever between "2H" <=t "4H" should be made at the speed be­low 100 km/h(62 mph).

(2) Mikali, nelipyaravedon aikana, ajoneuvo sattuu juuttumaan ja on irrotettava edestakaisin heilutta­malia, saattavat navat vapautua lukostaan taakse­paisen liikkeen johdosta. Jos taman jalkeen viela moottoria ylikiihdytetaan tai kytkin paastetaan liian nopeasti ylas, saattavat navat jaada lukittu­matta, jolloin seurauksena on vaihteitten kirskuva aani, tama ei suinkaan ole merkki toiminta­hairiasta. Jos tallaisessa tilanteessa painetaan kaa­supoljinta varovasti. ja paastetaan se jalleen ylas, lukittuvat napalukot, mutta kun ne sen tekevat, saattaa ajoneuvo nytkahtaa akkia eteenpain. Kaa­supoljinta tulee painaa varovaisesti. ja kytkin paastaa hyvin hitaasti ja tasaisesti ylas. & CAUTION (1) Even if automatic free-wheeling hubs are left locked during rear-wheel drive, they will be un­locked if the vehicle is reversed during starting on an uphill grade, a U-turn, etc. If this happens, the transfer shift lever cannot be moved to the "4H" position during driving; the vehicle must first be completely stopped. (2) If, during four-wheel drive operation, the vehicle becomes stuck and a back-and-forth rocking mo­tion is used to free it, the automatic free-wheeling hubs may become unlocked because of the back­ward movement. If the engine is subsequently revved up and the clutch let out suddenly, the automatic free-wheeling hubs may not lock, and a noise of grinding gears will be heard, however, this is not a malfunction. In addition, if in this condition the accelerator pedal is released slightly and then depressed again, the automatic free-wheeling hubs will lock, but when they do, the vehicle may jerk forward sud­denly. Depress the accelerator pedal gradually, and let the clutch out slowly and smoothly. (3) The automatic free-wheeling hubs may emit un­usual noises when driving at "2H" in cold weather; if this happens, drive for a while in four-wheel drive to warm up the transfer and then shift to "2H". (4) When used while turning, it may not come free in some cases. If this happens, drive straight ahead and try again. .
