WARNING
The engine compartment contains
many mechanisms and fluids that
may move suddenly, become hot,
or become electrically energized.
To avoid death or serious injury,
observe the following precautions.
■When working on the engine
compartment
●Make sure that “POWER ON”
on the meter and the “READY”
indicator are both off.
●Keep hands, clothing and tools
away from the moving fan.
●Be careful not to touch the
engine, power control unit, radi-
ator, exhaust manifold, etc. right
after driving as they may be hot.
Oil and other fluids may also be
hot.
●Do not leave anything that may
burn easily, such as paper and
rags, in the engine compart-
ment.
ItemsParts and tools●Do not smoke, cause sparks or
expose an open flame to fuel or
the battery. Fuel and battery
fumes are flammable.
■When working near the elec-
tric cooling fan or radiator
grille
Be sure the power switch is OFF.
With the power switch in ON, the
electric cooling fan may automati-
cally start to run if the air condi-
tioning is on and/or the coolant
temperature is high. ( P.508)
■Safety glasses
Wear safety glasses to prevent
flying or falling material, fluid
spray, etc., from getting in your
eyes.
NOTICE
■If you remove the air cleaner
filter
Driving with the air cleaner filter
removed may cause excessive
engine wear due to dirt in the air.

sure that the engine is warmed up. If
the engine oil level exceeds the refill
upper limit mark, contact your
Toyota dealer.
■Checking the oil type and
preparing the items needed
Make sure to check the oil type
and prepare the items needed
before adding oil.

■Adding engine oil
If the oil level is below or near
the low level mark, add engine
oil of the same type as that
already in the engine.
1 Remove the oil filler cap by
turning it counterclockwise.
2 Add engine oil slowly, check-
ing the dipstick.
Make sure that the oil level does
not exceed the refill upper limit mark and is between the low level
mark and refill upp
er limit mark.

The shape of the dipstick may differ
depending on the type of vehicle or
engine.
3Install the oil filler cap by
turning it clockwise.
■After changing the engine
oil
The engine oil maintenance
data should be reset. Perform
the following procedures:
1 Press or of the meter
control switches and select
 on the multi-information

6029-1. Specifications
■Oil capacity (Drain and refill reference*)
*: The engine oil capacity is a reference quantity to be used when changing
the engine oil. When actually adding the engine oil, make sure that the oil
level is between the low level ma rk and refill upper limit mark (P.506).
Warm up and turn off the hybrid syst em, wait about 5 minutes, and check
the oil level on the dipstick.
■Engine oil selection
“Toyota Genuine Motor Oil” is
used in your Toyota vehicle.
Use Toyota approved “Toyota
Genuine Motor Oil” or equiva-
lent to satisfy the following
grade and viscosity.
Oil grade:
ILSAC GF-6B multigrade engine
oil
Recommended viscosity: SAE 0W-16
SAE 0W-16 is the best choice
for good fuel economy and good
starting in cold weather.
If SAE 0W-16 is not available,
SAE 0W-20 oil may be used.
However, it must be replaced
with SAE 0W-16 at the next oil
change.
