Adjusts the seat fore-and-as positionLis lever 1 and slide the seat into the
desired position.Make sure that the seat is engaged.To adjust the seat height: push or pull lever 2
until the desired position has been reached.To adjust the seat backrest inclination: turn
handwheel 3 forwards and backwards until
the desired position has been reached.
Adjusting the front seat mechanically (with Seat
Comfort Package)
&WARNING Risk of becoming trapped if the
seats are adjusted by children
Children could become trapped if they adjust
the seats, particularly when unattended.
When leaving the vehicle, always take the SmartKey with you and lock the vehicle.Never leave children unattended in thevehicle.This also applies to the Digital Vehicle Key.&WARNING Risk of becoming trapped when
adjusting the seat
When you adjust a seat, you or other vehicle
occupants could become trapped, e.g. on the
seat guide rail.
When adjusting a seat, make sure that no one has any part of their body within
the sweep of the seat.Observe the safety notes on "Airbags" and "Chil-
dren in the vehicle".&WARNING Risk of accident due to the
driver\bs seat not being engaged
The driver\bs seat may move unexpectedly
while driving.
This could cause you to lose control of the
vehicle.
Always make sure that the driver\bs seat
is engaged before starting the vehicle.Seats and stowing95

&WARNING Risk of accident due to adjust-
ing the vehicle settings while the vehicle is
in motion
You could lose control of the vehicle in the fol-
lowing situations in particular:
= If you adjust the driver\bs seat, the head
restraint, the steering wheel or the mirror while the vehicle is in motion
= If you fasten your seat belt while the vehi-
cle is in motion
Before starting the vehicle: in particular,
adjust the driver\bs seat, head restraint,
steering wheel and mirror, and fasten
your seat belt.&WARNING Risk of becoming trapped if the
seat height is adjusted carelessly
If you adjust the seat height carelessly, you or
other vehicle occupants could be trapped and
thereby injured.
Children in particular could accidentally press
the electrical seat adjustment buttons and
become trapped.While moving the seats, make sure that hands or other body parts do not get
under the lever assembly of the seat adjustment system.&WARNING Risk of injury due to head
restraints not being installed or being
adjusted incorrectly
If head restraints have not been installed or
have not been adjusted correctly, there is an increased risk of injury in the head and neck
area, e.g. in the event of an accident or when
braking.
Always drive with the head restraints
installed.Before driving oM, make sure for every
vehicle occupant that the center of the
head restraint supports the back of the
head at about eye level.Do not interchange the head restraints of the front and rear seats. Otherwise, you will not be
able to adjust the height and angle of the head restraints correctly.
Adjust the head restraint fore-and-as position so
that it is as close as possible to the back of your head.&WARNING Risk of injury or death due to
an incorrect seat position
The seat belt does not oMer the intended level
of protection if you have not moved the seat
backrest to an almost vertical position.
In particular, you could slip beneath the seat-
belt and become injured.
Adjust the seat properly before begin-
ning your journey.Always ensure that the seat backrest is
in an almost vertical position and that
the shoulder belt is routed across the

&WARNING Risk of injury due to excessive
load on the grab handles
If you apply your full body weight to the grab
handle or pull it abruptly, the grab handle may
be damaged or come loose from its anchor-
age. This may result in injuries.
Use the grab handles only to stabilize the seating position or to assist in getting in
and out of the seat.&WARNING Risk of potentially fatal injuries
due to objects trapped under the front
passenger seat
Objects trapped under the front passenger seat may interfere with the function of the
automatic front passenger air bag shutoM or
damage the system.
Do not stow any objects under the front
passenger seat.When the front passenger seat is occu-
pied, ensure that no objects have
become trapped beneath the front

desired position.Make sure that the seat is engaged.To adjust the seat cushion length (driver\bs seat only): lis lever 1 and slide the front sec-
tion of the seat cushion forwards or back-
wards.To adjust the seat cushion inclination: turn

the desired position has been reached.To adjust the seat height: push or pull lever 4
until the desired position has been reached.To adjust the seat backrest inclination: turn
handwheel 5 forwards and backwards until
the desired position has been reached.

When you adjust a seat, you may trap yourself
or a vehicle occupant.
When adjusting a seat, make sure that no one has any body parts in the sweep
of the seat.&WARNING Risk of accident if the seat and
seat backrest are not engaged
The seat and seat backrest can fold forwards.
There is a risk of the following, in particular: = The vehicle occupant may be pressed
against the seat belt. The seat belt cannot
protect as intended and could cause addi- tional injury.
= A child restraint system will no longer be
properly supported or positioned and will
no longer fulNll its function as intended.

=The seat backrest will not be able restrain
objects or goods in the cargo compart-
ment.
Always ensure that the seat and seat backrest
are engaged, in particular:
= Before persons travel in the vehicle while
sitting on a seat with the easy entry and
exit feature
= Aser the seat has been adjusted.
= Aser the easy entry and exit feature has
been used
= Aser the cargo compartment enlargement
has been folded forwards&WARNING Risk of injury from adjusting
the rear seats while driving
You can trap yourself or other vehicle occu- pants and injure them.
Adjust the rear seats before starting the
vehicle.*NOTE Damage caused by objects in the
footwell or behind the rear seats
When adjusting the fore-and-as position, the
rear seats and/or the object can be damaged.
Stow objects in a suitable place.
This function is available only for vehicles with a
movable rear bench seat.
The components of the rear bench seat can be
moved. You can move the right-hand and les-hand
parts together with the center part independently of each other.
Lis release handle 1 and slide the corre-
sponding part of the bench seat into the
desired position.Let go of release handle 1.Make sure that the seat is engaged.Seats and stowing99

seat is not engaged
The seat does not engage when folded for-
wards. The seat can fold backwards unexpect-
edly, e.g. when accelerating, braking or in the
event of an abrupt change of direction or an accident.
People in the seat\bs sweep can become trap-
ped.
If a seat is folded forwards, always fold it
back before driving oM.Make sure that the seat is engaged.
Requirements:
= The area into which the seat is folded is clear.
Adjusting the seat backrest
You can fold the seat backrests on the second
row of seats forwards for the following situations:
= For easier access to the cargo compartment
You can set the seat backrest to diMerent angles.
If you no longer require the seat backrest to be
folded down for getting in and out, fold it backinto place.Hold the seat backrest in place with your hand
or back.Gently pull one of release loops 1 and fold
the seat backrest forwards or backwards.Ensure that the seat backrest is engaged.Head restraints

q Adjusting the front seat head restraints man-
ually
&WARNING Risk of accident due to adjust-
ing the vehicle settings while the vehicle is
in motion
You could lose control of the vehicle in the fol-

= If you adjust the driver\bs seat, the head
restraint, the steering wheel or the mirror while the vehicle is in motion

If head restraints have not been installed or

head restraint backwards.

To lower: press release knob 1 in the direc-
tion of the arrow and push the head restraint
down.If the center seat on the second row of seats
is not occupied: press the head restraint down
all the way.
q Installing/removing the rear seat head
restraints
RemovingRelease the rear seat backrest and fold it for-
wards slightly (  page 111).Pull the head restraint upwards as far as it will
go.Push release knob 1 in the direction of the
arrow and pull out the head restraint.
Installing
Insert the head restraint such that the notches on the bar are on the les when viewed in the
direction of travel.Push the head restraint down until it engages.Fold the rear seat backrest back until it
engages.
