If a message regarding a blocked sensor orcamera appears in the information display, something is obstructing the radar signals orcamera images. The radar sensor is behindthe fascia cover in the center of the lowergrille. With a blocked sensor or camera, thesystem may not function, or performancemay reduce. See Pre-Collision Assist –Information Messages (page 328).
Note:Proper system operation requires aclear view of the road by the camera. Haveany windshield damage in the area of thecamera's field of view repaired.
Note:If something hits the front end of yourvehicle or damage occurs and your vehiclehas a radar sensor, the radar sensing zonecould change. This could cause missed orfalse vehicle detections. Have your vehicleserviced to have the radar checked forproper coverage and operation.
Note:If your vehicle detects excessive heatat the camera or a potential misalignmentcondition, a message could display in theinformation display indicating temporarysensor unavailability. When operationalconditions are correct, the messagedeactivates. For example, when the ambienttemperature around the sensor decreasesor the sensor recalibrates successfully.

3.When you plug in a trailer with electric orelectric-over-hydraulic brakes, a messageconfirming connection appears in theinformation display.
4.Use the gain adjustment to find thedesired starting point. A gain setting of6.0 is a good starting point for heavierloads.
Note:Use the following steps to adjust thegain setting whenever road, weather andtrailer, or vehicle loading conditions, changefrom when you initially set the gain.
5.In a traffic-free environment, tow thetrailer on a dry, level surface and squeezethe manual control lever completely.
6.If the trailer wheels lock up, indicated bysquealing tires, reduce the gain setting. If the trailer wheels turn freely, increasethe gain setting. Repeat Steps 5 and 6until the gain setting is at a point justbelow trailer wheel lock-up. If towing aheavier trailer, trailer wheel lock-up maynot be attainable even with the maximumgain setting of 10.
Note:Only perform this procedure at speedsof approximately 20–25 mph (30–40 km/h).
Note:The trailer brake controller reducesoutput at vehicle speeds below 11 mph(18 km/h) so that trailer and vehicle brakingis not jerky or harsh. This feature is onlyavailable when applying the brakes usingyour vehicle's brake pedal, not the controller.
Note:Your vehicle's brake system and thetrailer brake system work independently ofeach other. Changing the gain setting on thecontroller does not affect the operation ofyour vehicle's brakes whether you attach atrailer or not.
Note:With the proper electrical connection, pressing your vehicle brake pedal or usingthe manual control lever illuminates bothtrailer and vehicle brake lamps.
Note:When you switch the engine off, thecontroller output is disabled and the displayand module shut down. The controllermodule and display turn on when you switchthe ignition on.

TRAILER BACKUP ASSISTANCE –FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Why does the trailer not reverse straight?
Verify the sticker is correctly applied.Other factors such as the hitchconnection, road camber, road slopeand trailer suspension could influencehow straight the system can reverse thetrailer when the control knob is notturned. You can compensate for thetrailer drifting to the right or left byslowly turning the knob until the traileris following your desired path andholding the knob in that position. Checkthat the correct trailer is selected in thetouchscreen. Verify the sticker iscorrectly applied and check that thedrawbar and the trailer dimensions arewithin the allowed range. If the trailerconsistently does not reverse straight, delete the trailer from the system andrepeat the setup process to calibratethe trailer.
What does it mean if the system remainson one message for an extended timeduring calibration?
The camera could need to be cleaned, the sticker could be blocked, thedrawbar could be outside the allowedrange of 9–18 in (23–46 cm) or youcould need to move to a different areato change the lighting and background.Verify the sticker is in the properlocation. See Applying the TrailerReversing Aid Sticker (page 364). Youcan move to a different area or changethe direction you are driving or set upthe system at a different time of day. Some trailers are not compatible withthe sticker and camera system.
What does it mean if the system pausesduring calibration?
There could be steering input or trailermovement during the straight driveportion of the calibration process.
What does it mean if the system displayshold steering steady during turn?
Part of the calibration process for thesticker setup requires a steady turn. Ifyou are continually moving the steeringwheel during the turn, this delays thecalibration process. To enable thecalibration process, hold the steeringwheel at the same position whenturning.
What does it mean if the system displaysthat it is not available?
There could be a sub-system that thesystem uses that is not correctlyoperating or there could be a batteryvoltage issue. If the system continuesto display it is not available, visit yourauthorized dealer to have your vehiclechecked.
