The detection area is in the center of the rearbumper.
Vehicles With a Trailer Hitch
The detection area is on the left-hand sideand right-hand side of the hitch, between theexhaust and the hitch.
Note:Allow the power system to open theliftgate. Manually pushing or pulling theliftgate may activate the system’s obstacledetection feature and stop the poweroperation or reverse its direction, replicatea strut failure, or damage mechanicalcomponents.
Note:Any physical actions that mimic akicking motion such as splashing water,trailer chains or vacuum hoses may causethe hands-free liftgate to activate. Switch thepower liftgate off through your vehiclesettings or keep the passive key away fromthe rear bumper detection area.
SETTING THE LIFTGATE OPENING
HEIGHT
1.Open the liftgate.
2.Stop the liftgate movement by pressingthe control button on the liftgate when itreaches the desired height.
Note:Once the liftgate stops moving, youcan manually move it to the desired height.
3.Press and hold the control button on theliftgate until a tone sounds, indicatingprogramming is complete.
Note:You can only use the liftgate controlbutton to program the height.
Note:You cannot program the height if theliftgate position is too low.

4.The power liftgate now opens at theprogrammed height. To change theprogrammed height, repeat the steps.
Note:You can fully open the liftgate bymanually pushing it upward to the maximumopen position if it opens in a lower position.
Note:The system recalls the newprogrammed height until you reprogram it,even if you disconnect the battery.

With the transmission in park (P),press the button on the instrumentpanel.
Note: Make sure that you close the liftgatebefore operating or moving your vehicle,especially in an enclosure, like a garage ora parking structure. This could damage theliftgate and its components.
Note: Make sure the area behind yourvehicle is free from obstruction and thatthere is enough room for you to operate theliftgate. Objects too close to your vehicle,for example a wall, garage door or anothervehicle may come into contact with themoving liftgate. This could damage theliftgate and its components.
Note:Make sure that you fully close theliftgate to prevent cargo from falling out.

WARNING: Do not use the systemwith any garage door opener that does nothave the safety stop and reverse featureas required by U.S. Federal SafetyStandards (this includes any garage dooropener manufactured before April 1, 1982).A garage door opener which cannot detectan object, signaling the door to stop andreverse, does not meet current federalsafety standards. Using a garage dooropener without these features increasesthe risk of serious injury or death.

DOOR OPENER
To clear all stored codes in the garage dooropener in your vehicle, use the clearfunction. To override one button, use thereprogram function.

Clearing the Garage Door Opener
To clear all stored codes in the garage dooropener in the vehicle:
1.Press and hold the outer two functionbuttons simultaneously for approximately10 seconds until the indicator above thebuttons flashes rapidly.
2.When the indicator flashes, release thebuttons.
Note:This clears all stored codes. Youcannot erase individual buttons.

Note:You can program a maximum of threedevices. To change or replace any of thethree devices after they have been initiallyprogrammed, you must either clear all codes,or reprogram each individual button.
Note:We recommend that upon the sale orlease termination of your vehicle, you erasethe programmed function buttons for securityreasons.
Reprogramming the Garage DoorOpener
If a button on your garage door opener hasalready been programmed, you can overrideit. To program a device to a previouslytrained button:
1.Press and hold the desired button forapproximately 20 seconds until theindicator begins to flash.
2.Without releasing the button, proceed toStep 3 of Programming the Garage DoorOpener to your Handheld Transmitter.
Programming the Garage Door Openerto your Handheld Transmitter
Note:The programming steps below assumeyou are programming a HomeLink that wasnot previously programmed. If yourHomeLink was previously programmed, youmay need to clear or reprogram yourHomeLink buttons.
Note:Put a new battery in the handheldtransmitter. This allows for quicker trainingand accurate transmission of theradio-frequency signal.
Note:Make sure that the garage door andsecurity device are free from obstructionwhen you are programming. Do not programthe system with the vehicle in the garage.
To program your in-vehicle HomeLinkfunction button with your handheldtransmitter:
1.With your vehicle parked outside of thegarage, switch your vehicle on, but donot start your vehicle.
2.Press and release one of the threeHomeLink function buttons that youwould like to program.
Note:The indicator should begin to flash. Ifthe indicator does not flash, press and holdthe function button for 20 seconds until theindicator begins to flash.

3.Hold your handheld garage doortransmitter 1–3 in (2–8 cm) away from theHomeLink button you want to program.
4.Press and hold the handheld transmitterbutton you want to program whilewatching the indicator on HomeLink.Continue to hold the handheld buttonuntil the HomeLink indicator flashesrapidly or is continuously on.
Note:You may need to use a differentmethod if you live in Canada or havedifficulties programming your gate operatoror garage door opener.
5.Press and hold the HomeLink button youprogrammed for two seconds, thenrelease. You may need to do this twiceto activate the door.
Note:If the indicator stays on, theprogramming is complete.
Note:If the HomeLink indicator flashesrapidly, repeat Step 5.
Note:If your device still does not operate,you must program your garage door.
6.To program additional buttons, repeatSteps 1–4.
Note:Make sure you keep the originalremote control transmitter for use in othervehicles as well as for future systemprogramming.

1.Press the learn button on the garagedoor opener motor and then you have30 seconds to complete the next twosteps.
2.Return to your vehicle.
3.Press and hold one of the threeHomeLink function buttons you want toprogram for two seconds, then release.
4.Repeat Step 3. Depending on your brandof garage door opener, you may need torepeat this sequence a third time.

Gate Operator / Canadian Programming
Canadian radio-frequency laws requiretransmitter signals to time-out (or quit) afterseveral seconds of transmission – which maynot be long enough for HomeLink to pick upthe signal during programming. Similar tothis Canadian law, some U.S. gate operatorsare designed to time-out in the same manner.
Note:If programming a garage door openeror gate operator, it is advised that youunplug the device during the cycling processto prevent possible overheating.
1.Press and release your handheldtransmitter, every two seconds, until theHomeLink indicator flashes rapidly or iscontinuously on.
2.Release the handheld transmitter button.
3.Press and hold the HomeLink functionbutton you want to program for twoseconds, then release. You may need todo this twice to activate the door.
Note:If the indicator stays on, theprogramming is complete.
Note:If the HomeLink indicator flashesrapidly, repeat Step 3.

Press the parking aid button anduse the menu to turn the systemon and off.
The system can also be turned off using thepop-up message that appears when you arein reverse (R).
REAR PARKING AID
WHAT IS THE REAR PARKING AID
Rear parking sensors detect objects behindyour vehicle when in reverse (R).
REAR PARKING AID LIMITATIONS
There is a decreased coverage area at theouter corners.
When using a programmed MyKey, youcannot switch the rear parking aid off.
The rear parking aid sensors are active whenyour vehicle is in reverse (R) and the vehiclespeed is less than 5 mph (8 km/h).
The sensor coverage area is up to 71 in(180 cm) from the rear bumper.
The rear parking aid detects large objectswhen you shift into reverse (R) and any ofthe following occur:
•Your vehicle is moving backward at a lowspeed.
•Your vehicle is stationary but an objectis approaching the rear of your vehicleat a low speed.
•Your vehicle is moving backward at a lowspeed and an object is moving towardsyour vehicle, for example another vehicleat a low speed.
The system shall provide no audible warningfor the object behind the vehicle when inneutral (N) gear.
