WHAT IS AUTO-START-STOP
The system is designed to help reduce fuelconsumption and CO2 emissions by stopping
the engine when it is idling, for example attraffic lights.
AUTO-START-STOP PRECAUTIONS
WARNING: Apply the parking brake,shift into park (P), switch the ignition offand remove the key before you leave yourvehicle. Failure to follow this instructioncould result in personal injury or death.

If you do not switch the ignitionoff, the engine could restart at any time.Failure to follow this instruction could resultin personal injury or death.
SWITCHING AUTO-START-STOP
ON AND OFF
The system turns on when you switch theignition on.
Press the button to switch thesystem off.
Note:OFF illuminates in the switch.
Note:Deactivating the system using thebutton lasts only one key cycle.
Press the button again to switch the systemback on.
Note: The system turns off if it detects amalfunction. If the system malfunctions,have your vehicle checked as soon aspossible.
STOPPING THE ENGINE
Stop your vehicle, keep your foot on thebrake pedal and the transmission in drive(D).
RESTARTING THE ENGINE
Release the brake pedal or press theaccelerator pedal.
A message appears in the instrument clusterdisplay if the system requires you to takeaction.
AUTO-START-STOP INDICATORS
WARNING: The system may requirethe engine to automatically restart whenthe auto-start-stop indicator illuminatesgreen or flashes amber. Failure to followthis instruction could result in personalinjury.
The Auto-Start-Stop indicatorilluminates green when the enginestops. It flashes amber and amessage appears when you need to takeaction.

6.When the nozzle shuts off, wait at least5 seconds, then slightly raise the fuelpump nozzle and slowly remove it.
7.Fully close the fuel filler door.
Do not attempt to start the engine if you havefilled the fuel tank with incorrect fuel.Incorrect fuel use could cause damage notcovered by the vehicle Warranty. Have yourvehicle immediately checked.
REFUELING YOUR VEHICLE - PLUG-INHYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE (PHEV)
WARNING: Do not pry open the fueltank filler valve. This could damage the fuelsystem. Failure to follow this instructioncould result in fire, personal injury or death.
WARNING: Do not remove the fuelpump nozzle from its fully inserted positionwhen refueling.
WARNING: Stop refueling when thefuel pump nozzle automatically shuts offfor the first time. Failure to follow this willfill the expansion space in the fuel tank andcould lead to fuel overflowing.
WARNING: Do not overfill the fueltank. The pressure in an overfilled tankmay cause leakage and lead to fuel sprayand fire.
WARNING: Wait at least five secondsbefore removing the fuel pump nozzle toallow any residual fuel to drain into the fueltank.
WARNING: Read and follow all theinstructions on the pump island.
1.When you stop your vehicle, shift intopark (P) and switch the ignition off.

2.Press the button on the left side of theinstrument panel next to the headlampswitch to open the fuel filler door. Thefuel filler door can take up to 15 secondsto open before you can insert a fuel fillernozzle.
3.Insert the fuel pump nozzle up to the firstnotch on the nozzle A. Keep it restingon the cover of the fuel tank filler pipeopening.
4.Hold the fuel pump nozzle in position Bwhen refueling. Holding the fuel pumpnozzle in position A can affect the flowof fuel and shut off the fuel pump nozzlebefore the fuel tank is full.
5.Operate the fuel pump nozzle within thearea shown.
6.When the nozzle shuts off, wait at least5 seconds, then slightly raise the fuelpump nozzle and slowly remove it.
7.Fully close the fuel filler door.
Note:Leaving the fuel door open could seta check engine lamp. See Fuel andRefueling – Troubleshooting (page 231).
Complete the refueling process within 20minutes. If 20 minutes elapses, press thebutton on the left side of the instrumentpanel again. Fuel pump nozzle automaticshut off could occur if you do not press thebutton on the left side of the instrumentpanel.

MANUALLY OPENING THE FUELFILLER DOOR
WARNING: The fuel system may beunder pressure. If you hear a hissing soundnear the fuel filler inlet, do not refuel untilthe sound stops. Otherwise, fuel may sprayout, which could cause serious personalinjury.
Note:The transmission must be in park (P)or neutral (N).
When using the manual override lever dothe following:
1.Switch the ignition on.
Note:The manual override lever is in thedriver side rear wheel well area.
2.Pull the manual override lever.
3.Switch the ignition off.
4.Complete the refueling process within20 minutes.
Note:Only follow this procedure if the fuelfiller door fails to open. If the problemremains, have your vehicle checked as soonas possible.
FUEL TANK CAPACITY
Advertised Capacity
The advertised capacity is the maximumamount of fuel that you can add to the fueltank when the fuel gauge indicates empty.
In addition, the fuel tank contains an emptyreserve. The empty reserve is an unspecifiedamount of fuel that remains in the fuel tankwhen the fuel gauge indicates empty.
Note:The amount of fuel in the emptyreserve varies and should not be relied uponto increase driving range.

The information message appears while the fuel system is depressurizing with the fuel filler doorclosed. Wait for the fuel system to depressurize and for the fuel filler door to unlatch.Please wait for fuel door to open
The information message appears when the fuel system has depressurized and opened the fuelfiller door. Fully open the fuel filler door to refuel and fully close the fuel filler door when refuelingis complete.
Fuel Door Open
Your vehicle is equipped with a sealed fuel system that requires the fuel filler door to be fullyclosed after refueling. This warning message appears when the fuel filler door is ajar. Pleasefully close the fuel filler door to avoid a "Check Engine" Light.

If you see this message and a "Check Engine" lamp illuminates, please fully close the fuel fillerdoor. The "Check Engine" Light should clear within five seconds. If the "Check Engine" lightpersists, please see your dealer.
The information message appears when the fuel system fails to depressurize, or the fuel fillerdoor fails to open. You could have to use the fuel filler door manual override lever when openingthe fuel door.

CATALYTIC CONVERTER – WARNINGLAMPS
Your vehicle has an on-board diagnosticssystem that monitors the emission controlsystem. If any of the following warning lampsilluminate, this may indicate that the on-boarddiagnostics system has detected an emissioncontrol system malfunction.
Continuing to drive your vehicle may causereduced power or the engine to stop. Failureto respond to a warning lamp may causedamage that your vehicle Warranty may notcover. Have your vehicle checked as soonas possible.

BRAKE PRECAUTIONS
Wet brakes result in reduced brakingefficiency. Gently press the brake pedal afew times when leaving a car wash or drivingfrom standing water to dry the brakes.
Note:Depending on applicable laws andregulations in the country where your vehiclewas originally built, the stoplamps could flashduring heavy braking. The hazard warningflashers could also turn on when your vehiclecomes to a stop.
ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM
ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEMLIMITATIONS
The anti-lock braking system does noteliminate the risk of crash when:
•You drive too closely to the vehicle infront of you.
•Your vehicle is hydroplaning.
•You take corners too fast.
•The road surface is poor.
Note: If the system activates, the brakepedal could pulse and travel further. Maintain pressure on the brake pedal.
ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEMINDICATORS
This system helps you maintain steeringcontrol during emergency stops by keepingthe brakes from locking.
If the warning lamp illuminateswhen you are driving, this indicatesa malfunction. Your vehiclecontinues to have normal braking withoutthe anti-lock brake system function. Haveyour vehicle checked as soon as possible.
The warning lamp also momentarilyilluminates when you switch the ignition onto confirm the lamp is functional. If it doesnot illuminate when you switch the ignitionon, or begins to flash at any time, have thesystem checked by an authorized dealer.
The warning lamp illuminates whenyou engage the parking brake andthe ignition is on.
If it illuminates when your vehicleis moving, make sure the parkingbrake is disengaged. If the parking brake isdisengaged, this indicates low brake fluidlevel or a brake system fault. Have yourvehicle checked as soon as possible.
The warning lamp also momentarilyilluminates when you switch the ignition onto confirm the lamp is functional. If it doesnot illuminate when you switch the ignitionon, or begins to flash at any time, have thesystem checked by an authorized dealer.
BRAKE OVER ACCELERATOR
In the event the accelerator pedal becomesstuck or entrapped, apply steady and firmpressure to the brake pedal to slow thevehicle and reduce engine power. If youexperience this condition, apply the brakesand bring your vehicle to a safe stop. Move
