LANE CENTERINGREQUIREMENTS
You must keep your hands on the steeringwheel at all times.
Lane centering only activates when all ofthe following occur:
•Adaptive cruise control with lanecentering is enabled in your informationand entertainment screen. SeeSwitching Lane Centering On andOff (page 304).
•You have adaptive cruise control withstop and go enabled and set.
•The steering sensor detects your handson the steering wheel.
•The system detects both lane markingswhen driving on a straight road.
•Your vehicle is initially centered in thelane between two visible line markings.
Note:If the system does not detect validlane line markings, the system will remainin standby until valid line markings areavailable.
Note:If the system does not detect yourhands on the steering wheel, apply a slightforce to the steering wheel.
LANE CENTERING LIMITATIONS
Adaptive cruise control limitations applyto lane centering unless stated otherwiseor contradicted by a lane centeringlimitation. See Adaptive Cruise ControlLimitations (page 297).
Lane centering may not correctly operatein any of the following conditions:
•The lane width is too narrow or wide.
•The curve in the road is too small.
•The system does not detect theminimum required lane markings orwhen lanes merge or split.
•When the required steering effort tomaintain lane center exceeds the lanecentering system limit.
•When driving in areas that are underconstruction or when road work is inprogress.
•If the front windshield camera and/orthe front radar are blocked.
•When using a spare tire.
•Inclement weather conditionsincluding, but not limited to, high wind,heavy rain, and fog.
•Driving into direct sunlight.
•When modification to the steeringsystem has been made, includingalterations to the steering wheel.
•When towing a trailer.
•When the vehicle is loaded to near ormaximum payload. See LoadCarrying (page 351).

Note:System operation may also be limitedunder snow, heavy rain, or road sprayconditions.
Note:The system steering assistance islimited and may not have sufficient effortfor all driving situations and/or conditions,such as driving through tight curves ordriving through curves at high speeds.

SLIPPERY - 4X4
For less than ideal roadconditions such as snow or icecovered roads. Use this mode forcrossing terrain where loose or slipperymaterials cover a firm surface. Slipperymode lowers throttle response andoptimizes shifting for slippery surfaces.
Four-wheel drive high is the defaultfour-wheel drive mode. All four-wheel drivemodes are selectable in slippery mode.
The electronic locking differential isavailable below 25 mph (40 km/h). SeeSwitching the Electronic LockingDifferential On and Off (page 245).
Note:Do not use this mode when drivingon dry pavement. This could cause drivelinebind up and damage the system dependingon the four-wheel drive mode selection.See Four-Wheel Drive (page 238).
Note:Depending on your vehicle options,some mode names can appear different ornot at all.

For improved vehicle operationwhen towing a trailer or haulinga heavy load. This mode movesupshifts to higher engine speeds to reducethe frequency of transmission shifting. Italso provides downshift engine braking toassist in maintaining vehicle speed whendescending a slope. Depending on yourvehicle's options, this mode enhancessteering response to assist in controllingyour vehicle when towing a trailer orhauling a heavy load.
Note:All four-wheel drive modes areselectable in tow/haul mode. This modedoes not default to a certain four-wheeldrive mode.

TOW/HAUL - 4X2

WHAT IS BLIND SPOT ASSISTWITH TRAILER COVERAGE
Blind spot assist with trailer coverage is anextension of the lane keeping system.
It may help you identify adjacent vehiclesduring a lane change.
Blind spot assist provides a blind spotwarning and steering assistance to helpduring lane changes.
When attaching a trailer, ensure you haveproperly set up the trailer coveragesettings. See Blind Spot InformationSystem With Trailer Coverage (page328).
HOW DOES BLIND SPOT ASSISTWITH TRAILER COVERAGE WORK
Activate and deactivate thesystem using the lane keepingsystem button on the steeringwheel.
During lane changes, the design of theblind spot assist feature detects vehiclesin, or approaching, your blind spot andprovides a warning, plus steeringassistance to direct your vehicle back intoyour lane.
If a supported trailer is connected, thefunction is reduced to only detectingvehicles on both sides of your vehicle andtrailer, extending rearward from theexterior mirrors to the end of your trailer.See Blind Spot Information SystemWith Trailer Coverage (page 328).
When active, this system functions with orwithout the use of direction indicators andhazard flashers.
You must keep your hands on the steeringwheel at all times.
BLIND SPOT ASSIST WITHTRAILER COVERAGELIMITATIONS
All system limitations present in the basiclane keeping system also apply to blindspot assist.
Blind spot assist does not function underthe following conditions:

•The system does not detect lanemarkings.
•One or both rear radar sensors becomeblocked or faulty.
•You have not configured the attachedtrailer correctly in the trailer tow menusor you attached an unsupported trailer.The system only supports certain trailershapes and dimensions.
Note:Blind spot assist with trailer coveragecould have reduced performance if any ofthe above limitations are present.
Blind spot assist may have difficultydetecting hazards under the followingconditions:
•If a vehicle is approaching in anadjacent lane at a relative speed muchhigher than your vehicle.
•Bad weather conditions are presentthat obstruct the sensors.
•Attaching bike or cargo racks couldcause false alerts due to obstructionof the sensor.
BLIND SPOT ASSIST WITHTRAILER COVERAGE INDICATORS
The lane keeping aid warning lamp or redlane marking in your instrument clusterdisplay indicate blind spot assist activation.In addition, the blind spot informationsystem alert indicator flashes on theexterior mirror on the same side as thedetection. See Blind Spot InformationSystem (page 327).

WHAT IS BLIND SPOT
INFORMATION SYSTEM
Blind spot information system detectsvehicles that may have entered the blindspot zone.
HOW DOES BLIND SPOT
INFORMATION SYSTEM WORK
Blind spot information system usessensors on both sides of your vehicle,detecting rearward from the exteriormirrors to approximately 13 ft (4 m)beyond the rear bumper. The detectionarea extends to approximately 59 ft (18 m)beyond the rear bumper when the vehiclespeed is greater than 30 mph (48 km/h)to alert you of faster approaching vehicles.
BLIND SPOT INFORMATION
SYSTEM PRECAUTIONS
WARNING: Do not use the blindspot information system as areplacement for using the interior andexterior mirrors or looking over yourshoulder before changing lanes. Theblind spot information system is not areplacement for careful driving.
WARNING: The system may notoperate properly during severe weatherconditions, for example snow, ice, heavyrain and spray. Always drive with duecare and attention. Failure to take caremay result in a crash.
Note: Blind spot information system doesnot prevent contact with other vehicles. Itdoes not detect parked vehicles,pedestrians, animals or other infrastructure.
BLIND SPOT INFORMATION
SYSTEM LIMITATIONS
Blind spot information system does notoperate in park (P) or reverse (R).
The system may not alert you if a vehiclequickly passes through the detection zone.
Note:For vehicles without blind spotinformation system with trailer coverage,aftermarket trailer tow modules or tow barsmay interfere with the system. In thissituation it is recommended that you switchthe system off when you attach a trailer. Forvehicles with a trailer tow module and towbar approved by the manufacturer, thesystem automatically turns off when youattach a trailer.

SENSORS
The sensors are inside the brake lamp onboth sides of your vehicle.
Note:Keep the sensors free from snow, iceand large accumulations of dirt.
Note:Do not cover the sensors with bumperstickers, repair compound or other objects.
Note:Bike and cargo racks could causefalse alerts due to obstruction of the sensor.We recommend switching the feature offwhen using a bike or cargo rack.
Note:Blocked sensors may affect systemaccuracy.
If the sensors become blocked, a messageappears in the instrument cluster display.See Blind Spot Information System –Information Messages (page 331). Thealert indicators illuminate but the systemdoes not alert you.

BLIND SPOT INFORMATIONSYSTEM WITH TRAILERCOVERAGE LIMITATIONS
Trailer coverage supports conventionaltrailers automatically. To function withunconventional trailers such as fifth wheeland gooseneck variants, the vehicle needsto have trailer accessory sensorsconnected.
Make sure the trailer width is less than orequal to 8.5 ft (2.6 m) and the length isless than 33 ft (10.1 m) for conventionaltrailers and less than 50 ft (15.2 m) forunconventional trailers. If you input valueshigher, the system turns off.

Some trailers could cause a slight changein system performance:
•Large box trailers could cause falsealerts to occur when driving next toinfrastructures or near parked cars. Afalse alert could also occur whilemaking a 90-degree turn.
•Trailers that have a width greater than8.5 ft (2.6 m) at the front and have atotal length greater than 20 ft (6 m)could cause delayed alerts when avehicle is passing at high speeds.
•Box trailers that have a width greaterthan 8.5 ft (2.6 m) at the front couldcause early alerts when you pass avehicle.
•Clam shell or v-nose box trailers witha width greater than 8.5 ft (2.6 m) atthe front could cause delayed alertswhen a vehicle traveling the samespeed as your vehicle merges lanes.
