Service data recorders in your vehicle arecapable of collecting and storingdiagnostic information about your vehicle.This potentially includes information aboutthe performance or status of varioussystems and modules in the vehicle, suchas engine, throttle, steering or brakesystems. In order to properly diagnose andservice your vehicle, Ford Motor Company(Ford of Canada in Canada), and serviceand repair facilities may access or shareamong them vehicle diagnosticinformation received through a directconnection to your vehicle whendiagnosing or servicing your vehicle.Additionally, Ford Motor Company (Fordof Canada, in Canada) may, wherepermitted by law, use vehicle diagnosticinformation for vehicle improvement orwith other information we may have aboutyou, for example, your contact information,to offer you products or services that mayinterest you. EVENT DATA
This vehicle is equipped with an event datarecorder. The main purpose of an eventdata recorder is to record, in certain crashor near crash-like situations, such as anairbag deployment or hitting a roadobstacle; this data will assist inunderstanding how a vehicle’s systemsperformed. The event data recorder isdesigned to record data related to vehicledynamics and safety systems for a shortperiod of time, typically 30 seconds or less.
The event data recorder in this vehicle isdesigned to record such data as:
•How various systems in your vehiclewere operating.
•Whether or not the driver andpassenger seatbelts werebuckled/fastened.
•How far (if at all) the driver wasdepressing the accelerator and/or thebrake pedal.
•How fast the vehicle was traveling.
•Where the driver was positioning thesteering wheel.
This data can help provide a betterunderstanding of the circumstances inwhich crashes and injuries occur.

3.Insert the belt tongue into the properbuckle for your seating position untilyou hear a snap and feel it latch.
4.Make sure you securely fasten thetongue to the buckle by pulling on thetongue.
While you are fastened in the seatbelt, theseatbelt with a cinch tongue adjusts toyour movement. However, if you brakehard, turn hard, or if your vehicle receivesan impact of 5 mph (8 km/h) or more, theseatbelt locks and helps reduce yourforward movement.
SENSITIVE LOCKING MODE
WHAT IS SENSITIVE LOCKINGMODE
Sensitive locking mode is a seatbeltretractor feature that allows shoulder beltlength adjustment according to yourmovements and locking in response tovehicle movement.
HOW DOES SENSITIVE LOCKINGMODE WORK
If the driver suddenly brakes, turns a cornersharply, or the vehicle receives an impactof about 5 mph (8 km/h) or more, theseatbelts lock to help reduce forwardmovement of the driver and passengers.
In addition, the seatbelt retractor locks ifyou pull the seatbelt webbing out tooquickly. If the retractor locks, slowly lowerthe height adjuster to allow the seatbeltto retract.
If the retractor does not unlock, pull theseatbelt out slowly then feed a smalllength of webbing back toward the stowedposition.
For rear seatbelts, recline the rear seatbackrest or push the seat backrest cushionaway from the seatbelt. Feed a smalllength of webbing back toward the stowedposition.
AUTOMATIC LOCKING MODE
WHAT IS AUTOMATIC LOCKINGMODE
This feature keeps the seatbeltspre-locked. The belt still retracts to removeany slack in the shoulder belt.
WHEN TO USE AUTOMATICLOCKING MODE
Use this mode any time you install a childrestraint in a front or rear seating position.Properly restrain children 12 years old andunder in a rear seat whenever possible. SeeChild Safety (page 50).
Note:Automatic locking mode is notavailable on the driver seatbelt.
Note:Vehicles with optional front seatcenter may not have this function.

Battery
It illuminates when you switchthe ignition on.
If it illuminates when the engineis running, this indicates your vehiclerequires service. Have your vehiclechecked as soon as possible.
Brake System
It illuminates when you apply theparking brake and the ignition ison. If it illuminates when yourvehicle is moving, make sure theparking brake is released. If theparking brake is released, thisindicates low brake fluid level or the brakesystem requires service. Have your vehiclechecked as soon as possible.
Note:Indicators may vary depending onregion.
Diesel Exhaust Fluid
Illuminates when the dieselexhaust fluid is low,contaminated or the systemrequires service.
Door Ajar
It illuminates when you switchthe ignition on and remains on ifany door is open.
Electric Parking Brake
It illuminates or flashes when theelectric parking brake requiresservice.
Engine Coolant Temperature
If it illuminates, safely stop yourvehicle and switch the vehicleoff.
Fasten Seatbelt
It illuminates and a tone soundsuntil you fasten the seatbelts.
Hood Ajar
It illuminates when the ignitionis on and the hood is notcompletely closed.
Limited Performance
Illuminates if your vehicle haslimited performance due to acold or hot battery. Drive withcaution. Keep your vehicle connected toa charging system when not in use tomaintain battery temperature.
Low Fuel Level
It illuminates when the fuel levelis low.
Low Tire Pressure
It illuminates when your tirepressure is low. If illuminated,check your tire pressure as soonas possible. If it begins to flash at anytime,have the system checked as soon aspossible.
Low Washer Fluid Level
It illuminates when the washerfluid is low.
Oil Pressure
It illuminates when the engineoil pressure is low.

HOW DOES THE ENGINE BLOCKHEATER WORK
The engine block heater warms the enginecoolant. This allows the climate controlsystem to quickly respond. The equipmentincludes a heater element installed in theengine block and a wire harness. You canconnect the system to a grounded 110 voltAC electrical source.
Note:The engine block heater is mosteffective when outdoor temperatures arebelow 0°F (-18°C).
USING THE ENGINE BLOCKHEATER
Make sure the receptacle terminals areclean and dry prior to use. Clean them witha dry cloth if necessary.
The heater uses 0.4 to 1.0 kilowatt-hoursof energy per hour of use. The system doesnot have a thermostat. It achievesmaximum temperature afterapproximately three hours of operation.Using the engine block heater longer thanthree hours does not improve systemperformance and unnecessarily useselectricity.
STOPPING THE ENGINE

The stow function allows the shifter to layflat in the console, enabling the use of theworking surface tray.
Note:Do not store objects in the selectorlever stow bin, and be sure that the bottomselector lever tray mat is flat inside theselector lever stow bin.
Note:If there are objects in the stow binwhile stowing the selector lever, the selectorlever could come back to the upright park(P) position.
MANUAL PARK RELEASE
WHAT IS MANUAL PARK RELEASE
Manual park release allows you to shiftyour vehicle out of park (P) in the event ofan electrical malfunction or emergency.
MANUAL PARK RELEASEPRECAUTIONS
WARNING: When doing thisprocedure, you need to take thetransmission out of park (P) whichmeans your vehicle can roll freely. Toavoid unwanted vehicle movement,always fully apply the parking brake priorto doing this procedure. Use wheelschocks if appropriate.
WARNING: If the parking brake isfully released, but the brake warninglamp remains illuminated, the brakesmay not be working properly. Have yourvehicle checked as soon as possible.
WARNING: Do not drive yourvehicle until you verify that thestoplamps are working.
Use the manual park release to move yourtransmission from the park (P) position inthe event of an electrical malfunction oremergency. See Emergency Towing(page 487).
Note:Do not engage the manual parkrelease with the engine on.
