WHAT IS THE PASSIVE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM
The passive anti-theft system preventssomeone from starting the vehicle with anincorrectly coded key.
Note:Do not leave a duplicate coded keyin your vehicle. Always take the keys andlock all the doors when leaving your vehicle.
HOW DOES THE PASSIVE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM WORK
The passive anti-theft system arms whenyou switch the ignition off.
It disarms when the ignition is switched onwith a correctly coded key.
Note:The system is not compatible withnon-Ford aftermarket remote start systems.
Note:Do not leave a duplicate coded keyin your vehicle. Always take the keys andlock all doors when leaving your vehicle.

OPENING AND CLOSING THE
WINDOWS
WARNING: Do not leave childrenunattended in your vehicle and do notlet them play with the power windows.Failure to follow this instruction couldresult in personal injury.
WARNING: When closing thepower windows, verify they are free ofobstruction and make sure that childrenand pets are not in the proximity of thewindow openings.
Press the control to open thewindow. Lift the control to closethe window.
Note:The power windows operate with theignition on, and for several minutes after youswitch the ignition off or until you open afront door.
To reduce wind noise or pulsing noise whenone window is open, slightly open theopposite window.
One-Touch Open (If Equipped)
Fully press the window control and releaseit. Press again or lift it to stop the window.
One-Touch Close (If Equipped)
Fully lift the window control and releaseit. Press again or lift it to stop the window.
Resetting One-Touch Close
Carry out all steps within 30 seconds ofstarting the sequence.
1.Fully open the window.
2.Lift and hold the window control untilthe window is fully closed. Keep thewindow control held for a two seconds
3.Press and hold the window control untilthe window is fully open. Keep thewindow control pressed for twoseconds.
4.Lift and hold the window control untilthe window is fully closed. Keep thewindow control held for a two seconds
Note:Repeat the procedure if the windowdoes not close when you use one-touch.
Tailgate Window
To open the window, do the following:
1.Open the tailgate. See Opening theTailgate From Outside Your Vehicle(page 93).
2.Lift the window.
To close the window, do the following:
1.Push the window down.
2.Close the tailgate. See Closing theTailgate From Outside Your Vehicle(page 93).
GLOBAL OPENING
WHAT IS GLOBAL OPENING
You can use the remote control to openthe windows with the ignition off.
USING GLOBAL OPENING
1.Press and release the unlock button onthe remote control.
2.Press and hold the unlock button onthe remote control.
3.Release the button when the windowsstart to open.
Press the lock or the unlock button on theremote control to stop global opening.
Note:You can use global opening for ashort period of time when you unlock yourvehicle using the remote control.

WARNING LAMPS
Anti-Lock Brake System
If it illuminates when you aredriving, this indicates amalfunction. Your vehiclecontinues to have normal braking withoutthe anti-lock brake system function. Haveyour vehicle checked as soon as possible.
Battery
It illuminates when you switchthe ignition on.
If it illuminates when the engineis running this indicates a malfunction.Have your vehicle checked as soon aspossible.
Brake System Warning Lamp
It illuminates when you apply theparking brake and the ignition ison. If it illuminates when yourvehicle is moving, make sure theparking brake is released. If theparking brake is released, thisindicates low brake fluid level or the brakesystem requires service. Have your vehiclechecked as soon as possible.
Note:Indicators may vary depending onregion.
Door Ajar
It illuminates when you switchthe ignition on and remains on ifany door is open.
Electric Park Brake
It illuminates or flashes when theelectric parking brake requiresservice.
Note:Indicators may vary depending onregion.
Engine Coolant Temperature
If it illuminates, safely stop yourvehicle and switch your vehicleoff.
Fasten Seatbelt
It illuminates and a tone soundsuntil you fasten the seatbelts.
Hood Ajar
It illuminates when the ignitionis on and the hood is notcompletely closed.
Low Beam Warning
Illuminates when the low beamheadlamp bulb requires service.Have the system checked assoon as possible.
Low Fuel Level
It illuminates when the fuel levelis low.
Low Tire Pressure
It illuminates when your tirepressure is low. If illuminated,check your tire pressure as soonas possible. If it begins to flash at anytime,have the system checked as soon aspossible.

WHAT IS REMOTE START
Remote Start System
The system allows you to remotely startyour vehicle and to adjust the interiortemperature according to the settings thatyou chose.
REMOTE START
PRECAUTIONS
WARNING: Do not start the enginein a closed garage or in other enclosedareas. Exhaust fumes are toxic. Alwaysopen the garage door before you startthe engine. Failure to follow thisinstruction could result in personal injuryor death.
REMOTE START LIMITATIONS
Remote start does not work under thefollowing conditions:
•The alarm horn is sounding.
•The hood is open.
•The transmission is not in park (P).
•The ignition is on.
•The battery voltage is below theminimum operating voltage.
•Remote start is not enabled.
Note:Do not use remote start if the fuellevel is low.
ENABLING REMOTE START
1.Press Settings on the touchscreen.
2.Press Vehicle.
3.Press Remote Start Setup.
4.Switch Remote Start on or off.
Note:To remote start with FordPass, makesure that the modem is enabled. SeeConnecting FordPass to the Modem(page 483).
REMOTELY STARTING AND
STOPPING THE VEHICLE
Remotely Starting the Vehicle
Press the button on the remotecontrol.
Within three seconds, press thebutton on the remote control.
Within three seconds, press thebutton again.
Note:You can also use FordPass to startthe vehicle.
Note:The vehicle doors lock when yousuccessfully remote start your vehicle.
Note:The turn signal lamps flash twice.
Note:The parking lamps turn on when thevehicle is running.
Note:The horn sounds if the system failsto start.
Note:All other vehicle systems remain offwhen you have remotely started the vehicle.
Note:The vehicle remains secured whenyou have remotely started the vehicle. Avalid key must be inside your vehicle toswitch the ignition on and drive your vehicle.
Remotely Stopping the Vehicle
Within three seconds, press thebutton on the remote control.

Pull the head restraint up to raise it.
To lower the head restraint:
1.Press and hold the adjust and releasebutton.
2.Push the head restraint down.

Pull the strap to fold the head restraintrearward.
REMOVING THE HEAD RESTRAINT
1.Pull up the head restraint until itreaches its highest position.
2.Press and hold the adjust and releasebutton and the unlock and removebutton.
3.Pull up the head restraint.
Note:The head restraints are notremovable on 2-door vehicles.
INSTALLING THE HEADRESTRAINT
Align the steel stems into the guide sleevesand push the head restraint down until itlocks.
ADJUSTING THE SEAT BACKREST
WARNING: Do not place cargo orany objects behind the seat backrestbefore returning it to the original position.Pull on the seat backrest to make surethat it has fully latched after returningthe seat backrest to its original position.An unlatched seat may becomedangerous if you stop suddenly or havea crash.
Note:The rear seats are not adjustable on2-door vehicles.
4-Door
Pull the lever up to fold the seat backrestfully forward.
Note:Make sure that the area under theseat is free of objects before folding thebackrest.
To return the seat backrest to the uprightposition, rotate it up until it locks.
Note:To store the removable doors, theseat backrest must be in the uprightposition.
To recline the seat backrest to the optimalseating position, pull the lever up and pushthe backrest rearward.
FOLDING THE SEATS
WARNING: Do not drive yourvehicle with a seat that is unlatched orin the folded position. Failure to followthis instruction could result in personalinjury or death in the event of a suddenstop or crash.
WARNING: Do not adjust a seat orrelease a seat floor latch when thevehicle is moving. Failure to follow thisinstruction could result in personal injuryor death in a sudden stop or crash.

2-Door
1.Pull the strap at the front of the seatcushion. Then, flip the seat cushion upto the vertical position.
2.Pull the strap on the top of the seatbackrest to fold it forward.
UNFOLDING THE SEATS
WARNING: Make sure that cargoand other objects are not trapped underthe seat cushion and that you return theseat cushion to the full-down position.Failure to do so may prevent the seatfrom operating properly, which couldincrease the risk of serious injury in acrash.
For 2-door vehicles, rotate the seatbackrest upright until it locks in the seatingposition. Then, move the seat cushion backto the seating position.

Garage Door Opener Limitations
Canadian radio-frequency laws requiretransmitter signals to time out, or quit,after several seconds – which may not belong enough for HomeLink to pick up thesignal. U.S. gate operators time-out in thesame manner.
