Therefore, the fan may stop for a while
until warm or cool air is ready to flow immediately after the “AUTO” switch is pressed.
QWindshield fog detection function
When automatic mode is set, the humid- ity sensor detects fog on the windshield and controls the air conditioning system
to prevent fog.
This feature is used to prevent ice
from building up on the windshield
and wiper blades.
Press the switch to turn the system
on/off.
The indicator comes on when the sys-
tem is on.
Vehicles with windshield wiper de-icer:
The windshield wiper de-icer will auto-
matically turn off after a period of time.
Vehicles with Heated Windshield
Defroster:
 The Heated Windshield
Defroster will automatically turn
off in 4 minutes.
 The Heated Windshield
Defroster will not operate if the
outside temperature is 5°C
(41°F) or higher.

QFront side windows water-repel-
lent coating (except quarter win- dow)
OThe following precautions can extend the effectiveness of the water-repel-lent coating.
• Remove any dirt, etc., from the front side windows regularly.• Do not allow dirt and dust to accumu-
late on the windows for a long period. Clean the windows with a soft, damp cloth as soon as possible.
• Do not use wax or glass cleaners that contain abrasives when cleaning the windows.
• Do not use any metallic objects to remove condensation build up.
QBrake pads and calipers
Rust may form if the vehicle is parked
with wet brake pads or disc rotors, caus- ing them to stick. Before parking the vehicle after it is washed, drive slowly
and apply the brakes several times to dry the parts.
QBumpers
Do not scrub with abrasive cleaners.
QPlated portions
If dirt cannot be removed, clean the parts as follows:
OUse a soft cloth dampened with an approximately 5% solution of neutral detergent and water to clean the dirt
off.
OWipe the surface with a dry, soft cloth
to remove any remaining moisture.
OTo remove oily deposits, use alcohol
wet wipes or a similar product.

QWhen washing the vehicle
Do not apply water to the inside of the
engine compartment. Doing so may cause the electrical components, etc. to catch fire.
QWhen cleaning the windshield
Set the wiper switch to off. If the wiper switch is in “AUTO”, the
wipers may operate unexpectedly in the following situations, and may result in hands being caught or other
serious injuries and cause damage to the wiper blades.

exhaust pipes
Exhaust gasses cause the exhaust pipes to become quite hot.
When washing the vehicle, be careful not to touch the pipes until they have cooled sufficiently, as touching hot
exhaust pipes can cause burns.

QPrecaution regarding the rear bumper with Blind Spot Monitor
(if equipped)
If the paint of the rear bumper is chipped or scratched, the system may
malfunction. If this occurs, consult any authorized Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized repairer, or any
reliable repairer.
NOTICE
QTo prevent paint deterioration and corrosion on the body and
components (aluminum wheels, etc.)
OWash the vehicle immediately in
the following cases:
• After driving near the sea coast
• After driving on salted roads
• If coal tar or tree sap is present on the paint surface
• If dead insects, insect droppings or
bird droppings are present on the paint surface
• After driving in an area contami- nated with soot, oily smoke, mine dust, iron powder or chemical sub-
stances
• If the vehicle becomes heavily soiled with dust or mud
• If liquids such as benzene and gas- oline are spilled on the paint sur-face
OIf the paint is chipped or scratched, have it repaired immediately.
OTo prevent the wheels from corrod-ing, remove any dirt and store in a
place with low humidity when stor- ing the wheels.
QCleaning the exterior lights
OWash carefully. Do not use organic substances or scrub with a hard
brush. This may damage the surfaces of the lights.
ODo not apply wax to the surfaces of the lights.
Wax may cause damage to the lenses.
QWhen using an automatic car wash
Set the wiper switch to off position.
If the wiper switch is in “AUTO”, the wipers may operate and the wiper blades may be damaged.
QWhen using a high pressure car wash
OWhen washing the vehicle, do not let water from the high-pressure washer directly hit the camera (if
equipped) or the area around the camera. Due to the shock from the high pressure water, it is possible
that the device may not operate normally.
ODo not bring the nozzle tip close to boots (rubber or resin manufac-tured cover), or connectors or the
following parts. The parts may be damaged if they come into contact with high-pres-
sure water.
• Traction related parts
• Steering parts
• Suspension parts
• Brake parts
OKeep the cleaning nozzle at least 30 cm (11.9 in.) away from the vehi-cle body. Otherwise resin section,
such as moldings and bumpers, may be deformed and damaged. Also, do not continuously hold the
nozzle in the same place.

the claw of the wiper blade from the stopper, and pull out the
wiper insert.

warp direction of the metal blades are
same as the original.

QWiper blade and wiper insert han-dling
Improper handling may result in damage to the wiper blades or wiper insert. If you have any concerns about replacing the
wiper blades or wiper insert yourself, contact any authorized Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized repairer, or any reli-
able repairer.
NOTICE
QWhen lifting the windshield wip-
ers
OWhen raising the wiper arms off the windshield, lift up the driver side
first, and then lift up passenger side. When returning the wipers to their original position, return the
passenger side first.
ODo not lift a windshield wiper by the
wiper blade. Otherwise, the wiper blade may be deformed.
ODo not operate the wiper lever when the windshield wipers are lifted. Otherwise, the windshield
wipers may contact the hood, pos- sibly resulting in damage to the windshield wipers and/or hood.
QTo prevent damage
OBe careful not to damage the claws when replacing the wiper insert.
OAfter the wiper blade is removed from the wiper arm, place a cloth,
etc., between the rear window and wiper arm to prevent damage to the rear window.
OBe sure not to pull excessively on the wiper insert or deform its metal
plates.
