• Put his/her head, arms or other
parts of the body out of the window
In the event of an accident, the force
of SRS side airbag and/or SRS cur-
tain shield airbag deployment could injure the child seriously because
his/her head, arms or other parts of
the body are too close to the SRS side airbag and/or SRS curtain shield
airbag.
●Since your vehicle is also equipped
with a front passenger’s SRS fron-
tal airbag, children aged 12 and under or 1.5 m (4 feet 11 inches) tall
or less should be placed in the rear
seat and should be properly restrained at all times.
■SRS Airbag System Servicing
The SRS airbag has no userservicea-
ble parts. Do not use electrical test
equipment on any circuit related to the SRS airbag system. For required
servicing of the SRS airbag, we rec-
ommend that you consult your near- est Toyota dealer. Tampering with or
disconnecting the system’s wiring
could result in accidental inflation of the SRS airbag or could make the
system inoperative, which may result
in serious injury.
■Precautions against Vehicle Modification
To avoid accidental activation of the
system or rendering the system inop- erative, which may result in serious
injury, no modifications should be
made to any components or wiring of the SRS airbag system.
This includes the following modifica-
tions.
●Installation of custom steering
wheels
●Attachment of additional trim mate-
rials to the dashboard
●Installation of custom seats
●Replacement of seat fabric or
leather
●Installation of additional fabric or
leather on the front seat
●Attachment of a hands-free micro-
phone or any other accessory to a
front pillar, a center pillar, a rear pil- lar, the windshield, a side window,
an assist grip, or any other cabin
surface that would be near a deploying SRS curtain shield
airbag.
●Installation of additional electri-
cal/electronic equipment such as a
mobile two-way radio on or near the SRS airbag system components
and/or wiring is not advisable. This
could interfere with proper opera- tion of the SRS airbag system.
●Modifications on or inside the front door panels for the purpose of a
speaker replacement or sound
insulation.
• The impact sensors, which detect
the pressure of an impact, are
located in the doors.
●Do not perform any of the following
modifications. Such modifications can interfere with proper operation
of the SRS airbag system.

●Do not wipe the camera with alcohol,
benzine or paint thinner.
Otherwise, discolora tion may occur. To remove contamination, wipe the
camera with a cloth moistened with a
diluted neutral detergent. Then wipe it with a soft, dry cloth.
●When waxing the vehicle, be careful not to apply the wax to the camera. If
it comes in contact with the camera,
moisten a clean cloth with a diluted neutral detergent to remove the wax.
●The camera lens has a hard coating to help prevent scratches. However,
when washing the vehicle or cleaning
the camera lens, be careful not to
scratch the camera lens. Do not use a washing brush directly on the camera
lens. The image quality of the rear
view camera may deteriorate.
●Strong light shined on the camera lens
may develop vertical lines around the light source. This is not a malfunction.
●Under the fluorescent light, the display
may flicker. However, this is not a mal-
function.
●The image of the rear view camera
may be slightly different from the actual color of the objects.
●If there is a malfunction on the multi-media system screen, refer to “Multi-
media owner’s manual”.
Rear view camera
A rear view camera is attached
to the trunk lid. When the
engine switch is in ON and the
shift lever is set to R, the rear
view camera automatically dis-
plays the rear view image
behind the vehicle on the mul-
timedia system screen.
WA R N I N G
●Since the rear view camera uses a
wide-angle lens, the image on the monitor is different from the actual
view in terms of distance.
●Since the range of the image on the
monitor is limited, always check the
rear view and the surrounding area with your eyes and mirrors, and
move backward at a slow speed.
Moving backward only by checking the rear view image from the cam-
era could cause an accident.
●Do not disassemble or modify the
camera, switch or wiring. If smoke
comes out or you smell a strange odor, stop using the rear view cam-
era immediately.
Contact any authorized Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized
repairer, or any reliable repairer for
an inspection. Continued use may result in accident, fire or electric
shock.
NOTICE
●When washing your vehicle with a high-pressure washer, do not allow
water to touch the camera directly.
Entry of water in the camera lens may result in condensation, mal-
function, fire or electric shock.
●Since the camera is a precision
device, do not subject it to strong
impacts. Otherwise, malfunction, fire or electric shock may occur.

4-6. Using other driving systems
Driving
When the shift lever is set to R, the
rear view camera automatically dis-
plays the rear view image from the
vehicle. When the lever is set to
other positions, the image before
setting to R is displayed.
1 Set the engine switch to ON.
2 Set the shift lever to R.
●The image of the rear view camera is horizontally reversed as is the case
with the vehicle inside mirror or the
outside mirror.
●When “Rear Camera Delay Control” is
on, the rear view image from the rear view camera will be displayed on the
multimedia system screen for a cer-
tain amount of time after the shift lever
is shifted from R to another position. When any of the following conditions
are met, the rear view image will be
canceled: • The shift lever is sh ifted to P (vehicles
with an automatic transmission)
• The vehicle speed becomes approxi- mately 8 km/h (5 mph) or more
• The parking brake is engaged
• 9 seconds have elapsed since the shift lever was shifted from R to
another position
To turn the function on and off, refer to “Multimedia owner’s manual”.
●It may be difficult to see the image of the rear view camera in the following
cases. This is not a malfunction of the
camera. • The vehicle is in a dark place (at night,
in a tunnel, etc.).
• The vehicle is in an extremely hot or cold place.
• An object (such as raindrops, snow,
dirt, etc.) that disturbs the view of the rear view camera sticks to the lens of
the camera.
• Strong light is shining directly on the camera lens (occasionally, there are
vertical lines on the screen).
The area from the rear end of the
bumper can be viewed. Areas at
both ends of the bumper and areas
just under the bumper cannot be
viewed.
Also, the image from the rear view
camera looks shorter than the
actual distance.
NOTICE
●If mud or snow sticks to or is frozen
on the camera, you must be very
careful when removing it. Otherwise, damage to the camera
may cause a fire or electric shock.
Pour water or lukewarm water over the camera to remove mud and ice,
and wipe it with a soft, dry cloth.
●Do not put a flame close to the camera or wiring. Otherwise, dam-
age or fire may occur.
●When replacing the fuse, be sure to
use a fuse with the specified rating.
Use of a fuse with a different rating may result in a malfunction.
●If you use the rear view camera for a long time while the engine is not
operated, the battery may become
completely discharged.

6-1. Maintenance and care
Maintenance and care
Remove dirt and dust using a
vacuum cleaner. Wipe dirty sur-
faces with a cloth dampened with
lukewarm water.
If dirt cannot be removed, wipe it
off with a soft cloth dampened
with neutral detergent diluted to
approximately 1%.
Wring out any excess water from the
cloth and thoroughly wipe off remaining
traces of detergent and water.
■Shampooing the carpets
There are several commercial foam-
ing-type cleaners available. Use a sponge or brush to apply the foam. Rub
in overlapping circles. Do not use water.
Wipe dirty surfaces and let them dry.
Excellent results are obtained by keep- ing the carpet as dry as possible.
■Handling the seat belts
Clean with mild soap and lukewarm
water using a cloth or sponge. Also check the belts peri odically for exces-
sive wear, fraying or cuts.
■Meter visor
Do not place anything on top of meter visor. The color of the meter visor may
transfer.
Cleaning and protecting
the vehicle interior

■Water in the vehicle
●Do not splash or spill liquid in the
vehicle.
Doing so may cause electrical com-
ponents, etc. to malfunction or catch
fire.
●Do not get any of the SRS compo-
nents or wiring in the vehicle interior
wet. ( P. 3 2 )
An electrical malfunction may cause
the airbags to deploy or not function
properly, resulting in death or serious injury.
■Cleaning the interior (especially instrument panel)
Do not use polish wax or polish
cleaner. The instrument panel may reflect off the windshield, obstructing
the driver’s view and leading to an
accident, resulting in death or serious injury.
NOTICE
■Cleaning detergents
●Do not use the following types of detergent, as they may discolor the
vehicle interior or cause streaks or
damage to painted surfaces:
• Non-seat portions: Organic sub-
stances such as benzene or gaso-
line, alkaline or acidic solutions, dye, and bleach
• Seats: Alkaline or acidic solutions, such as thinner, benzene, and alco-
hol
●Do not use polish wax or polish
cleaner. The instrument panel’s or
other interior part’s painted surface may be damaged.

■After a fuse is replaced
●If the lights do not turn on even after
the fuse has been replaced, a bulb may need replacement.
●If the replaced fuse blows again, have the vehicle inspected by any author-
ized Toyota retailer or Toyota author-
ized repairer, or any reliable repairer.
■If there is an overload in a circuit
The fuses are designed to blow, protect-
ing the wiring harness from damage.
■When replacing light bulbs
Toyota recommends that you use genu- ine Toyota products designed for this
vehicle.
Because certain bulbs are connected to
circuits designed to prevent overload, non-genuine parts or parts not designed
for this vehicle may be unusable.

■To prevent system breakdowns and vehicle fire
Observe the following precautions.
Failure to do so may cause damage
to the vehicle, and possibly a fire or injury.
●Never use a fuse of a higher amperage rating than that indi-
cated, or use any other object in
place of a fuse.
●Always use a genuine Toyota fuse
or equivalent. Never replace a fuse with a wire,
even as a temporary fix.
●Do not modify the fuses or fuse
boxes.
NOTICE
■Before replacing fuses
Have the cause of electrical overload
determined and repaired by any
authorized Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized repairer, or any reliable
repairer as soon as possible.
