■SRS warning light
If the warning light exhibits any of the
following conditions, immediately stop the vehicle in a safe place, and we
recommend that you consult a Toyota
dealer. Unless a technician checks and repairs the system as needed,
the seatbelt pretensioners and/or the
SRS airbag may not operate properly
in the event of a collision, which may result in injury.
●Flashing or flickering of the warning light
●No illumination of the warning light when the engine switch is first
turned to ON
●Continuous illumination of the warn-
ing light
●Illumination of the warning light
while driving
Exhaust gas precautions
Harmful substance to the
human body is included in
exhaust gases if inhaled.
WA R N I N G
Exhaust gases include harmful car-
bon monoxide (CO), which is color-
less and odorless. Observe the following precautions.
Failure to do so may cause exhaust
gases enter the vehicle and may lead to an accident caused by
light-headedness, or may lead to
death or a serious health hazard.
■Important points while driving
●Keep the trunk lid closed.
●If you smell exhaust gases in the
vehicle even when the trunk lid is closed, open the windows and have
the vehicle inspected at any author-
ized Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized repairer, or any reliable
repairer as soon as possible.
■When parking
●If the vehicle is in a poorly venti-
lated area or a closed area, such as a garage, stop the engine.
●Do not leave the vehicle with the engine on for a long time.
If such a situation cannot be
avoided, park the vehicle in an open space and ensure that
exhaust fumes do not enter the
vehicle interior.
●Do not leave the engine running in
an area with snow build-up, or where it is snowing. If snowbanks
build up around the vehicle while
the engine is running, exhaust gases may collect and enter the
vehicle.

■Cautions during setting up the display
As the engine needs to be running
during setting up the display, ensure that the vehicle is parked in a place
with adequate ventilation. In a closed
area such as a garage, exhaust gases including harmful carbon mon-
oxide (CO) may colle ct and enter the
vehicle. This may lead to death or a serious health hazard.

■While setting up the display
To prevent battery discharge, ensure that the engine is running while set-
ting up the display features.

4-1. Before driving

●Do not leave a door or window
open if the curved glass is coated
with a metallized film such as a sil- ver-colored one. Reflected sunlight
may cause the glass to act as a
lens, causing a fire.
●Always apply the parking brake,
shift the shift lever to P (vehicles
with an automatic transmission), stop the engine and lock the vehi-
cle.
Do not leave the vehicle unat- tended while the engine is running.
If the vehicle is parked with the shift
lever in P but the parking brake is not set, the vehicl e may start to
move, possibly leading to an acci-
dent.
●Do not touch the exhaust pipes
while the engine is running or immediately after turning the engine
off.
Doing so may cause burns.
■When taking a nap in the vehicle
Always turn the engine off. Otherwise, if you accidentally move the shift lever
or depress the accelerator pedal, this
could cause an accident or fire due to engine overheating. Additionally, if the
vehicle is parked in a poorly ventilated
area, exhaust gases may collect and enter the vehicle, leading to death or
a serious health hazard.
■When braking
●When the brakes are wet, drive
more cautiously. Braking distance increases when
the brakes are wet, and this may
cause one side of the vehicle to brake differently than the other
side. Also, the parking brake may
not securely hold the vehicle.
●If the brake booster device does not operate, do not follow other vehi-
cles closely and avoid hills or sharp
turns that require braking. In this case, braking is still possible,
but the brake pedal should be
depressed more firmly than usual. Also, the braking distance will
increase. Have your brakes fixed
immediately.
●Do not pump the brake pedal if the
engine stalls. Each push on the brake pedal uses
up the reserve for the
power-assisted brakes.
●The brake system consists of 2 indi-
vidual hydraulic systems; if one of the systems fails, the other will still
operate. In this case, the brake
pedal should be depressed more firmly than usual and the braking
distance will increase. Have your
brakes fixed immediately.
■If the vehicle becomes stuck
Do not spin the wheels excessively when any of the tires is up in the air,
or the vehicle is stuck in sand, mud,
etc. This may damage the driveline components or propel the vehicle for-
ward or backward, causing an acci-
dent.
NOTICE
■Pre-driving check
Trapping small animals in the cooling
fan and belts of the engine may result
in a malfunction. Check that no small animal enters the engine compart-
ment and under the vehicle before
starting the engine.

4-4. Refueling
Driving
1 With the doors unlocked, press
the center of the rear edge of
the fuel filler door.
Push until you hear a click and take your hand away to slightly open the fuel
filler door. Then open the door fully by
hand.
2 Turn the fuel tank cap slowly
and remove it, then put it into
the holder on the fuel filler door.
■When opening the fuel filler door
The fuel filler door cannot be opened if
the doors have been unlocked using a
inside lock button.
Unlock the doors using the entry func-
tion, wireless remote control, or door
lock switch. ( P.103, 105)

1After refueling, turn the fuel tank
cap until you hear a click. Once

●Turn the cap to the right until it
clicks to ensure that it is fully tight-
ened. If the cap is not securely tightened, fuel spillage could occur
in the event of an accident, creating
a fire hazard.
NOTICE
■Refueling
●Do not spill fuel during refueling.
Doing so may damage the vehicle,
such as causing the emission con- trol system to ope rate abnormally
or damaging fuel system compo-
nents or the vehicle’s painted sur- face.
●Never add any cleaning agents to the fuel tank. The addition of a
cleaning agent may cause damage
to the fuel system.
●Immediately put fuel in the tank
whenever the low fuel warning light
illuminates. Engine misfires as a result of an empty tank could cause
damage to the engine.

■Items that should not be left in the storage spaces
Do not leave glasses, lighters or
spray cans in the storage spaces, as this may cause the following when
cabin temperature becomes high:
●Glasses may be deformed by heat
or cracked if they come into contact
with other stored items.
●Lighters or spray cans may
explode. If they come into contact with other stored items, the lighter
may catch fire or the spray can may
release gas, causing a fire hazard.
