■Conditions to turn the high beams on/off automatically
●When all of the following conditions are met, the high beams will be turned
on automatically (after approximately
1 second): • The vehicle speed is approximately 60
km/h (37 mph) or more.
• The area ahead of the vehicle is dark. • There are no vehicles ahead with
headlights or tail lights turned on.
• There are few streetlights on the road ahead.
●If any of the following conditions is met, the high beams will turn off auto-
matically:
• The vehicle speed is below approxi- mately 50 km/h (31 mph).
• The area ahead of the vehicle is not
dark. • Vehicles ahead have their headlights
or tail lights turned on.
• There are many streetlights on the road ahead.
■Stereo camera detection informa-
tion
●If EyeSight is malfunctioning or tem-
porarily disabled, the high beam assist
will not operate, and the low beam
headlights will turn on.
●The high beams may not be automati-
cally turned off in the following situa- tions:
• When a vehicle suddenly appears
from around a curve • When the vehicle is cut in front of by
another vehicle
• When vehicles ahead cannot be
detected due to repeated curves, road
dividers or roadside trees • When vehicles ahead appear in a far-
away lane on a wide road
• When the lights of vehicles ahead are not on
●The high beams may be turned off if a vehicle ahead that is using fog lights
without its headlights turned on is
detected.
●House lights, street lights, traffic sig-
nals, and illuminated billboards or signs and other reflective objects may
cause the high beams to change to
the low beams, or the low beams to remain on.
●The following factors may affect the amount of time taken for the high
beams to turn on or off:
• The brightness of the headlights, fog lights, and tail lights of vehicles ahead
• The movement and direction of vehi-
cles ahead • When a vehicle ahead only has oper-
ational lights on one side
• When a vehicle ahead is a two-wheeled vehicle
• The condition of the road (gradient,
curve, condition of the road surface, etc.)
• The number of passengers and
amount of luggage in the vehicle • When there is a lag in response due
to the limitations of the detection
range of the stereo camera
●The high beams may turn on or off
unexpectedly.
●Bicycles or similar vehicles may not
be detected.
●In the following si tuations the system
may not be able to correctly detect the
surrounding brightness level. This may cause the low beams to remain
on or the high beams to flash or daz-
zle pedestrians or vehicles ahead. In such a case, it is necessary to manu-
ally switch between the high and low
beams. • When driving in inclement weather
(heavy rain, snow, fog, sandstorms,

recorded data for the purpose of vehicle
research and development. Toyota and third parties contracted by Toyota will
not disclose or provide the acquired
data to any other third party except under the following conditions.
• The vehicle owner has given his/her
consent.
• The disclosure/provision is based on a court order or other legally enforcea-
ble request.
• Data that has been modified so that the user and vehicle cannot be identi-
fied is provided to a research institu-
tion for statistical processing or similar purposes.

EyeSight is a driving support
system that uses a range of
functions to assist the driver in
making decisions in order to
provide for more safe and
comfortable driving and to
reduce driver fatigue. Making
use of images created by the
stereo camera, EyeSight
detects vehicles, obstacles,
traffic lanes and other items
ahead.
WA R N I N G
Drivers are responsible for driving
safely. Always comply with all traffic
rules and regulations regardless of the fact that your vehicle is equipped
with EyeSight. Always maintain a safe
following distance between your vehi- cle and the vehicle in front of you, pay
attention to your surroundings and
driving conditions, and take neces- sary actions in order to maintain a
safe following distance.
Never attempt to drive relying on Eye-
Sight alone.
EyeSight is intended to assist the
driver in making decisions in order to
reduce the risk of accidents or dam- age and lessen the burden on the
driver.
When an EyeSight warning is acti-
vated, pay attention to what is in front
of you and to your surroundings, and take necessary acti ons. This system
is not designed to support driving in
poor visibility or in extreme weather conditions, or to protect against care-
less driving when the driver is not
paying complete attention to the road ahead. It also cannot prevent colli-
sions from occurring in all driving con-
ditions.

Adaptive Cruise Control*
Adaptive Cruise Control is a
driving support system
intended to allow more com-
fortable driving on express-
ways, freeways and
motorways. The stereo cam-
era detects vehicles in front
that are driving in the same
traffic lane, and your vehicle
follows the vehicle in front (up
to the maximum speed of the
set vehicle speed). While fol-
lowing, your vehicle will auto-
matically maintain a following
distance that corresponds to
the speed of the vehicle in
front. The vehicle is capable of
being controlled at a speed
between 0 km/h (0 mph) and
approximately 180 km/h (110
mph). Please remember that
you should not exceed posted
speed limits.
WA R N I N G
●This system does not provide the
driver with an automatic driving
function that handles all traffic con- ditions.
●Do not rely excessively on Adaptive Cruise Control. Th is system is not
intended to assist in driving when
the driver is not paying full attention to what is ahead of him/her due to
distractions or a lack of concentra-
tion while driving, or under condi- tions of poor visibility. It is not
intended to prevent rear-end colli-
sions. Strive for safe driving at all times.
Always maintain a safe following
distance behind the vehicle in front of you, pay attention to your
surroundings and the driving condi-
tions, and operate the brake pedal and take other actions as neces-
sary.
●When using Adaptive Cruise Con-
trol, always set the speed according
to the speed limit, traffic flow, road conditions, and other conditions.
●Before using the system, perform a daily inspection and verify that
there are no malfunctions of the
tires or brakes.
●When you do not want to use Adap-
tive Cruise Control, be sure to turn it off by pressing the “ON-OFF”
switch. If the switch is left on, cruise
control may be accidentally engaged, possibly resulting in an
accident.
●Before using Adaptive Cruise Con-
trol, be sure to full y verify the safety
of the vehicle occupants and the area around the vehicle. Never
operate the cruise control from out-
side the vehicle.
The system may not operate correctly
under the conditions listed below.
When these conditions occur, do not use Adaptive Cruise Control.

BSD/RCTA consists of the following
functions.
To detect a vehicle in a blind spot
on an adjacent lane or a vehicle
approaching at high speed while
driving the vehicle (Blind Spot
Detection)
To detect a vehicle approaching
from the right or left while revers-
ing the vehicle (Rear Cross Traf-
fic Alert)
The system uses radar sensors for
the following features.
The BSD/RCTA radar sensor is approved under the radio wave related
laws of each country. For details, refer to
P.398.
■Blind Spot Detection (BSD)
The system notifies the driver of the
presence of vehicles in its blind
spot.
If the system detects a vehicle in
its blind spot, it warns the driver
by illuminating the BSD/RCTA
approach indicator(s) on the out-
side mirror(s).
If the driver operates the turn sig-
nal lever in the direction where
the BSD/RCTA approach indica-
tor is illuminating, the system
warns the driver of dangers by
flashing the BSD/RCTA
approach indicator.
BSD/RCTA*
The BSD/RCTA consists of rear
corner radars with Blind Spot
Detection, Lane Change Assist
and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.
These functions of BSD/RCTA
are the systems that detect
objects and vehicles to the rear
and draw attention to the
driver when changing a lane or
when driving in reverse.
WA R N I N G
The driver is responsible for driving
safely. Always be sure to check the
surroundings with your eyes when changing lanes or reversing the vehi-
cle.
The system is designed to assist the
driver in changing lanes or reversing
safely by monitoring the rear and side areas of the vehicle. However, you
cannot rely on this system alone in
assuring the safety during a lane change or reversing. Overconfidence
in this system could result in an acci-
dent and lead to serious injury or death. Since the system operation
has various limitations, the flashing or
illumination of the BSD/RCTA approach indicator may be delayed or
it may not operate at all even when a
vehicle is present in a neighboring lane or approaching from either side.
The driver is responsible for paying attention to the rear and side areas of
the vehicle.

■Lane Change Assist (LCA)
The system notifies the driver of
vehicles approaching at a high
speed in the neighboring lanes.
If the system detects a vehicle
approaching at a high speed in
the neighboring lanes, it warns
the driver of dan gers by illumi-
nating the BSD/RCTA approach
indicator(s) on the outside mir-
ror(s).
If the driver operates the turn sig-
nal lever in the direction where
the BSD/RCTA approach indica-
tor is illuminati ng, the system
warns the driver of dangers by
flashing the BSD/RCTA
approach indicator.

■Rear Cross Traffic Alert
(RCTA)
The system notifies the driver of
another vehicle approaching from
either side when driving in reverse.
This feature helps the driver check
the rear and side areas of the vehi-
cle when moving backward.
If the system detects a vehicle
approaching from either side while
moving backward, it warns the
driver of dangers in the following
way.
The BSD/RCTA approach indica-
tor(s) on the outside mirror(s)
flashes.
A warning buzzer sounds.
An icon appears on the multime-
dia system screen.
Operating range
Limitations of the detectability of
RCTA
Since the detectability of RCTA is
limited, the RCTA may not operate
properly in angled parking.
