●“ECO” mode
Helps the driver accelerate in an eco-friendly manner and
improve fuel economy through moderate throttle characteristics
and by controlling the operation of the air conditioning system
(heating/cooling).
When Eco mode is selected, the “ECO MODE” indicator will illumi -
nate on the multi-information display.
While the air conditioning is being used, the system automatica lly
switches to air conditioning eco mode ( P. 554), allowing for driving
that leads to even better fuel economy.
■ When canceling “ECO” mode/ “SPORT” mode
● Select the drive mode again. Also, “SPORT” mode will be canceled auto-
matically when the power switch is turned off.
● However, “NORMAL” mode and “ECO” mode will not be canceled automati-
cally until another drive mode is selected, even if the power s witch is turned
off.

■ If the “Check Speed Limiter System.” is displayed on the multi-informa-
tion display
Stop in a safe place, turn the power switch off and back on aga in, and then
set the speed limiter. If the speed limiter cannot be set, the system may be
malfunctioning. Even though the vehicle can be driven normally, have the
vehicle inspected by any authorized Toyota retailer or Toyota a uthorized
repairer, or any r eliable repairer.
WARNING
■To avoid operating the speed limiter by mistake
Keep the speed limiter switch off when not in use.
■ Situations unsuitable for speed limiter
Do not use the speed limiter in either of the following situati ons.
Doing so may result in control of the vehicle being lost and co uld cause a
serious or fatal accident.
● On slippery roads, such as those covered with rain, ice or snow
● On steep hills
● When towing a trailer or emergency towing
NOTICE
When a warning is issued using the meter display and buzzer after exceed-
ing the set speed limit on a steep decline, depress the brake p edal to decel-
erate.

When the BSM function is disabled, the BSM OFF indicator (P. 437) illu-
minates. (Each time the power switch is turned off and then cha nged to
ON mode, the BSM function will be enabled automatically.)
■ The outside rear view mirror indicators visibility
When under strong sunlight, the out side rear view mirror indicator may be dif-
ficult to see.
■ When “Blind Spot Monitor Unavailable.” is shown on the multi-informa-
tion display
Water, snow mud, etc., may be built up in the vicinity of the s ensor area of
bumper ( P. 450).
Removing the water, snow, mud, etc., from the vicinity of the s ensor area
bumper should return it to normal.
Also, the sensor may not function normally when used in extreme ly hot or
cold weather.
■ When “Blind Spot Monitor System Malfunction. Visit Your Dealer.” is
shown on the multi-information display
There may be a sensor malfunction or misaligned. Have the vehic le
inspected by any authorized Toyota retailer or Toyota authorize d repairer, or
any reliable repairer.
■ Customization

WARNING
■To ensure the system can operate properly
One Blind Spot Monitor sensor is installed inside the left and right side of
the vehicle rear bumper respectively. Observe the following to ensure the
Blind Spot Monitor can function correctly.
If the warning message does not disappear, have the vehicle ins pected
by any authorized Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized repairer , or any reli-
able repairer.
● Do not subject a sensor or its surrounding area on the rear bumper to a
strong impact.
If a sensor is moved even slightly off position, the system may malfunction
and vehicles may not be detected correctly.
In the following situations, have your vehicle inspected by any authorized
Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer.
• A sensor or its surrounding area is subject to a strong impact .
• If the surrounding area of a sensor is scratched or dented, or part of
them has become disconnected.
● Do not disassemble the sensor.
● Do not attach accessories or stickers to the sensor or surrounding area on
the bumper.
● Do not modify the sensor or surrounding area on the bumper.
● Do not paint the rear bumper any color other than an official Toyota color.
●Keep the sensor and its surrounding
area on the bumper clean at all times. If
a sensor or its surrounding area on the
rear bumper is dirty or covered with
snow, the Blind Spot Monitor may not
operate and a warning message
( P. 438) will be displayed.
In this situation, clear off the dirt or
snow and drive the vehicle with the
operation conditions of the BSM func-
tion ( P. 453) satisfied for approxi-
mately 10 minutes.

Toyota parking assist-sensor
: If equipped
The distance from your vehicle to objects, such as a wall, when
parallel parking or maneuvering into a garage is measured by
the sensors and communicated via the multi-information display
and a buzzer. Always check the surrounding area when using
this system.

This system can be enabled/disabled on the multi-information display.
Press “ ” or “” of the meter control switches, select .
Press “ ” or “” of the meter control switches, select , and
press to select the desired setting (on/off).
When the Toyota parking assist-sensor function is disabled, the Toyota
parking assist-sensor OFF indicator ( P. 161) illuminates.
Once turned off, the Toyota parking assist-sensor will remain O FF until it
is turned ON again via the screen of the multi-information dis play.
(The system will not automatically turn ON even when the hybrid system
is restarted.)
When the sensors detect an objects, such as a wall, a graphic i s
shown on the multi-information display depending on the positio n and
distance to the objects.

the object will be displayed on the multi-information display. (As the
distance to the object becomes short, the distance segments may
blink.)
