Depending on the type and se verity of the acci-
dent, and depending on theve hicle's equipment,
th efo llowing measures can be implemented, for
ex ample:

Depending on the accident situation, the post-col-
lision brake can minimise the se verity of a fur ther
collision or even avo id it.
If an accident is de tected, the post-collision brake
can implement automatic braking. When theve hi-
cle has come toa standstill, the electric parking
brake is automatically applied.
The driver can cancel automatic braking bytaking

wsanevaluation of your driv-
ing style on the driver's display depending on the
situation. This enables youto check the e1ciency
of your driving style and adjust it if necessar y.The
ECO display menu shows a ball 2that will roll
fo rw ards or backwards on a st ylised road in the
direction of tr avel according tothe driving charac-
te ristics.
Ab ove and below thero ad, lines mark the area for
an e1cient driving st yle 3. Ball 2will light up in
gr een if it is rolling within these lines. Outside the
lines, the ball will light up in orange. The ECO display assesses
thefo llowing criteria for
an economical driving st yle:
R coasting at theright time
R consistent speed
R moderate accele ration
The overall assessment of your driving style "from
start" is indicated using stars 1. It starts with
/ve em ptystars, which you can /ll one aTer the
ot her if you drive e1cientl y.When all /ve stars are
/lled, a glow appears in the backg round.

ECO Assist is active only in drive pro-
grams ; andA.
ECO Assist anal yses data forth eve hicle's expec-
te dro ute. This allo ws the system tooptimally
adjust the driving style forth ero ute ahead, sa ve
fuel and recuperate. If the system de tects an
ev ent ahead and theve hicle nears theev ent, ECO
Assist will calculate the optimum speed for maxi-
mum fuel economy and recuperative energy
based on the distance, speed and downhill gradi-
ent. 1

When the driver remo vesth eir foot from the
accelerator, theý symbol will turn green.
The display will disappear as soon as ECO Assist
cannot identify any fur ther recommendations
from thero ute ahead. The

If th e calculated route is adhered towhen route
guidance is active, ECO Assist will operate with
gr eater accuracy. The basic function is also availa-
ble without active route guidance. Not all informa-
tion and tra1c situations can be fore seen. The
qu ality depends on the map data.
ECO Assist is only an aid. The driver is responsible
fo rke eping a safe distance from theve hicle in
front, forve hicle speed and for braking in good
time. The system may be impaired or may not function
in
thefo llowing situations:
R Ifth ere is poor visibility, e.g. due toinsu1cient
illumination of thero ad, highly variable shade
conditions, rain, sno w,fog or heavy spr ay.
R Ifth ere is glare, e.g. from oncoming tra1c,
direct sunlight or re0ections.
R Ifth e windscreen in the area of the multifunc-
tion camera is dirty, or if the camera is misted
up, damaged or co vered.
R Ifth e tra1c signs are hard todetect, e.g. due
to dirt, snow or insu1cient lighting, or
because they are co vered.
R Ifth e information in the navigation system's
digital map is incor rect or out-of-date.
R If signs are ambiguous, e.g. road signs in road-

is co vered, damaged or dirty, cer tain driving

Keep the area around vehicle senso rsor
cameras clear of any obst ructions and
clean. #
Have damage tothe bumper, radiator
gr ille or stone chipping in the area of the
front and rear wind owsre paired at a
qu ali/ed specialist workshop. Pa
rticular ly,ke ep the areas around the sensors
and cameras free of dirt, ice or slush
(/ page 372). The sensors and cameras must
not be co vered and the de tection ranges around
th em must be kept free. Do not at tach additional
licence plate brac kets, advertisements, stic kers,
fo ils or foils toprotect against stone chippings in
th e de tection range of the sensors and cameras. Make sure
that there are no overhanging loads
pr otru ding into the de tection range.
If th ere is damage toa bumper or thera diator
gr ille, or aTer an impact, ha vethe function of the
