identi/cation number. Depending on the countr y,
th is vehicle identi/cation number can be used by,

to identify theow ner or driver, suc hasth e licence
plate number.

units may be attributable toa person or, under

son. Depending on which vehicle data are availa-

itself. Control units oTen contain data memories

cal information about theve hicle's operating state, component loads, main

ments and tech nical events or faults.
