Windshield wipers
Operates as follows when the igni-
tion switch is turned ON.
MIST : For a single wiping cycle,
push the lever upward and
release it. The wipers will
operate continuously if the
lever is held in this position.
OFF : Wiper is not in operation
INT : Wiper operates intermittently at the same wiping intervals. Use
this mode in a light rain or mist.
To vary the speed setting, turn
the speed control knob.
ON/LO : Normal wiper speed
HI : Fast wiper speed
✽ ✽ NOTICE
If there is heavy accumulation of
snow or ice on the windshield,
defrost the windshield for about 10
minutes, or until the snow and/or ice
is removed, before using the wind-
shield wipers in order to ensure
proper operation.
If you do not remove the snow
and/or ice before using the wiper
and washer, the wiper and washer
system may be damaged.
AUTO (Automatic) control
(if equipped)
The rain sensor located on the upper
end of the windshield glass senses
the amount of rainfall and controls the
wiping cycle for the proper interval.
The more it rains, the faster the wiper
operates. When the rain stops, the
wiper stops.

To vary the speed setting, turn the
speed control knob (1).
If the wiper switch is set in AUTO
mode when the ignition switch is ON,
the wiper will operate once to per-
form a self-check of the system. Set
the wiper to off position when the
wiper is not in use.Windshield washers (front)
In the OFF position, pull the lever
gently toward you to spray washer
fluid on the windshield and to run the
wipers 1-3 cycles.
Use this function when the wind-
shield is dirty.
CAUTION
When washing the vehicle, setthe wiper switch in the off posi-tion to stop the auto wiper oper-ation.
The wiper may operate and bedamaged if the switch is set inthe AUTO mode while washingthe vehicle.
Do not remove the sensor coverlocated on the upper end of thepassenger side windshieldglass. Damage to system partscould occur and may not becovered by your vehicle warran-ty.
When starting the vehicle inwinter, set the wiper switch inthe off position. Otherwise,wipers may operate and ice maydamage the windshield wiperblades. Always remove all snowand ice and defrost the wind-shield properly prior to operat-ing the windshield wipers.

The spray and wiper operation will
continue until you release the lever. If
the washer does not work, check the
washer fluid level.
If the fluid level is not sufficient, you
should add appropriate non-abrasive
windshield washer fluid to the wash-
er reservoir.
The reservoir filler neck is located in
the front of the engine compartment
on the passenger side.
CAUTION - Wiper position
When washing the vehicle, set
the wiper switch in the off posi-tion to stop the auto wiper oper-ation. The wiper may operateand be damaged if the switch isset in the AUTO mode whilewashing the vehicle.
CAUTION - Wipers &
windshields
 To prevent possible damage to the wipers or windshield,do not operate the wiperswhen the windshield is dry.
 To prevent damage to the wiper blades, do not use gasoline,kerosene, paint thinner, orother solvents on or near them.
 To prevent damage to the wiper arms and other compo-nents, do not attempt to movethe wipers manually.
WARNING - Obscured
visibility
Do not use the washer in freez-
ing temperatures without first
warming the windshield with
the defrosters; the washer solu-
tion could freeze on the wind-
shield and obscure your vision.
CAUTION - Washer pump
To prevent possible damage to the washer pump, do not oper-ate the washer when the fluidreservoir is empty.

Rear window wiper and wash-
er switch (for 5 door)
The rear window wiper and washer
switch is located at the end of the
wiper and washer switch lever. Turn
the switch to operate the rear wiper
and washer.(1) HI - High wiper speed
(2) ON/LO - Low wiper speed
(3) OFF - Wiper is not in operation
Push the lever away from you or turn
the wiper lever switch upwards fully
to spray rear washer fluid and to run
the rear wipers 1~3 cycle. The spray
and wiper operation will continue
until you release the lever.

Do not use the interior lights for
extended periods when the engine is
not running as this may cause bat-
tery discharge.Automatic turn off function
(if equipped)
The interior lights automatically turn
off approximately 20 minutes after
the ignition switch is turned off.
If your vehicle is equipped with the
theft alarm system, the interior lights
automatically turn off approximately
5 seconds after the system is in
armed stage.
Map lamp (if equipped)
Push the lens (1) to turn the map lamp
on or off. This light produces a spot
beam for convenient use as a map
lamp at night or as a personal lamp for
the driver and front passenger.
INTERIOR LIGHT
WARNING - Interior light
Do not use the interior lights
when driving in the dark. The
glare from the interior lights
may obstruct your view and
cause an accident.

 DOOR (2) :In the DOOR position, the map
lamp and the room lamp come on
when any door is opened regard-
less of the ignition switch position.
When doors are unlocked by the
transmitter, the map lamp and the
room lamp come on for approxi-
mately 30 seconds as long as any
door is not open.
The map lamp and the room lamp
turn off gradually after approxi-
mately 30 seconds if the door is
closed.
However, if the ignition switch is
ON or all doors are locked, the
map lamp and the room lamp will
turn off immediately. If a door is
opened with the ignition switch in
the ACC or LOCK position, the
map lamp and the room lamp stays
on for about 20 minutes. However,
if a door is opened with the ignition
switch in the ON position, the map
lamp and the room lamp stays on
continuously. If the type B room
lamp switch is OFF, it doesn't work.  ON (3) : The map lamp and the
room lamp stay on at all
times.
 OFF (4) : The lights turn off even if a door is opened.

pressing the lens (1), the lamp does
not turn off even if the switch (2) is
in the OFF position.
Room lamp
To turn the room lamp ON or OFF,
push the switch.
If your vehicle is not equipped with a

- The room lamp comes on when a
door is opened. The lamps go out

- The room lamp comes on for approximately 30 seconds when
doors are unlocked with a trans-
mitter as long as the doors are
not opened.
- The room lamp will stay on for approximately 20 minutes if a
door is opened with the ignition
switch in the ACC or LOCK/OFF
position.
- The room lamp will stay on con- tinuously if the door is opened
with the ignition switch in the ON
position.

Trunk/Liftgate room lamp
The trunk/liftgate room lamp comes
on when the trunk/liftgate is opened.The trunk/liftgate room lamp comes
on as long as the trunk/liftgate lid is
open. To prevent unnecessary charg-
ing system drain, close the trunk/lift-
gate lid securely after using the
trunk/liftgate room lamp.
Glove box lamp
The glove box lamp comes on when
the glove box is opened. To prevent
unnecessary charging system drain,
close the glove box securely after
use.
