Tailgate
Opening the tailgate
1. Make sure the vehicle is in P(Park).
2. Then do one of the following : - Press the button on the tailgateitself with the Smart Key in your possession.
Closing the tailgate
Lower the tailgate lid and press down
until it locks.
To be sure the tailgate lid is securely
fastened, always check by trying topull it up again. In cold and wet climates, door lock
and door mechanisms may not
work properly due to freezing con-ditions.

The tailgate swings upward. Make sure no objects or people
are near the rear of the vehicle
when opening the tailgate.
WARNING
Make certain that you close the
tailgate before driving your
vehicle. Possible damage may
occur to the tailgate lift cylin-
ders and attached hardware if
the tailgate is not closed priorto driving.

Charging Door
Opening the charging door
The charging door must be opened
from inside the vehicle by pushing
the charging door open button.
1. Depress the brake pedal andapply the parking brake.
2. Turn OFF all switches, shift to P (Park), and turn OFF the vehicle.
3. Press the charging door open but- ton ( ) to open the charging
door.
Closing the charging door
1. After recharging, install the charg-ing inlet cover.
2. Close the charging door until it is latched securely.

the front of the owner’s manual.
Unlock Charging Door in Emergency
If the charging door does not open
due to battery discharge and failure
of the electric wires, open the tail-gate and slightly pull the emergency
cable as shown above. The chargingdoor will then open.

Press POWER button with key
This warning message is displayed if
you press the POWER button while
the warning message "Key not
detected" is displayed.
At this time, the immobilizer indicator
light blinks.
Check BRAKE SWITCH fuse
This warning message is displayed if
the brake switch fuse is disconnected.
You need to replace the fuse with a
new one before starting the vehicle.
If that is not possible, you can start the
vehicle by pressing the POWER but-
ton for 10 seconds in the ACC posi-tion.
Shift to P to start vehicle
This warning message is displayed if
you try to start the vehicle without
shifting to the P (Park) position.
Unplug vehicle to start
This message is displayed when you
start the vehicle without unplugging
the charging cable. Unplug the
charging cable, and then start the
vehicle.
Low Washer Fluid (if equipped)
This warning message is displayed
if the washer fluid level in the reser-
voir is nearly empty.
Have the washer fluid reservoir refilled.
Door / Hood / Tailgate open
This warning is displayed indicating
which door, or the hood, or the tail-gate is open.
If the door/hood/tailgate open warn-
ing message is blocked with another
warning message, an icon will
appear on the top of the LCD display.

Auto Lock
The auto door lock operation will be deactivated.
All doors will be automatically locked when the vehicle speed exceeds 15 km/h(9.3 mph).
All doors will be automatically locked if the gear is shifted from the P (Park) position to the R (Reverse), N (Neutral), or D (Drive) position.
Auto Unlock
The auto door unlock operation will be canceled. (if equipped with smart key)
All doors will be automatically unlocked when the POWER button is set to the OFF position.
All doors will be automatically unlocked if the gear is shifted to the P (Park) position.
Lock/Unlock soundTo activate or deactivate the lock/unlock sound.
If you lock the door with a remote control key again after locking the door, the alarm beeps.
Horn feedback
To activate or deactivate the horn feedback.
If the horn feedback is activated, after locking the door by pressing the lock button on the remote key,
and pressing it again within 4 seconds, the horn feedback sound will operate once to indicate that all
doors are locked (if equipped with remote key).

Onetouch turn signal function
To activate the One Touch Turn
Signal function, push the turn signal
lever up or down to position (B) andthen release it.
The lane change signals will blink 3,
5 or 7 times.
You can activate or deactivate the
One Touch Turn Signal function or
choose the number of blinking (3, 5,or 7) from the User Settings mode
(Light) on the LCD display.
For more information, refer to the
"LCD Display" section in this
chapter.
Battery saver function
The purpose of this feature is to pre-
vent the battery from being dis-
charged. The system automatically
turns off the parking lamp when the
driver turns the vehicle off and opens
the driver-side door.
With this feature, the parking lamps
will turn off automatically if the driver
parks on the side of road at night.
If necessary, to keep the lamps on
when the the vehicle is turned off, per-
form the following:
1) Open the driver-side door.
2) Turn the parking lamps OFF andON again using the light switch on
the steering column.
Headlamp delay function
(if equipped)
If the POWER button is placed in the
ACC position or the OFF positionwith the headlamps ON, the head-
lamps (and/or parking lamps) remain
on for about 5 minutes. However, if
the driver’s door is opened and
closed, the headlights are turned off
after 15 seconds. Also, with the vehi-
cle off if the driver's door is openedand closed, the headlamps (and/or
parking lamps) are turned off after 15
seconds.
The headlamps (and/or parking
lamps) can be turned off by pressing
the lock button on the smart key
twice or turning the light switch to the
OFF or AUTO position.
You can activate or deactivate the
Headlamp Delay function from theUser Settings mode (Light) on the
LCD display.

"LCD Display" section in this
chapter.

Interior Lights
Do not use the interior lights for
extended periods when the vehi-
cle is turned off or the battery will
discharge.
Interior lamp AUTO cut
The interior lamps will automatically
go off approximately 20 minutes after
the vehicle is turned off and the
doors closed. If a door is opened, the
lamp will go off 40 minutes after the
vehicle is turned off. If the doors are
locked by the smart key and the vehi-
cle enters the armed stage of the
theft alarm system, the lamps will go
off five seconds later.
Front lamps
(1) Front Map Lamp
(2) Front Door Lamp
(3) Front Room Lamp ON
(4) Front Room Lamp OFF
Front Map Lamp :
Press either of these lenses to turn
the map lamp on or off. This light pro-
duces a spot beam for convenientuse as a map lamp at night or as a
personal lamp for the driver and the
front passenger.
NOTICE
Do not use the interior lights
when driving in the dark. The inte-
rior lights may obscure your viewand cause an accident.

Front Door Lamp ( ):
The front or rear room lamps come on when the front or rear doors are
opened. When doors are unlocked by
the smart key, the front and rear
lamps come on for approximately 30
seconds as long as any door is not
opened. The front and rear room
lamps go out gradually after approxi-mately 30 seconds if the door is
closed. However, if the POWER but-ton is in the ON position or all doors
are locked, the front and rear lamps
will turn off. If a door is opened with
the POWER button in the ACC posi-tion or the OFF position, the front
and rear lamps stay on for about 20
minutes.
Front room lamp
Press the button to turn ON the
room lamp for the front/rear seats.
Re-press the button to turn OFF
the room lamp.
Press the button to turn OFF the
room lamp for the front/rear seatsregardless of front or rear door openposition.
Rear lamp
Rear Room Lamp ( ):
Press this switch to turn the room
lamp on and off.

Luggage room lamp
The luggage room lamp comes on when the tailgate is opened.
The luggage room lamp comes on
as long as the tailgate is open. To
prevent unnecessary charging
system drain, close the tailgate
securely after using the luggage
room.
Vanity mirror lamp (if equipped)
Push the switch to turn the light on or
off.
: The lamp will turn on if thisbutton is pressed.
: The lamp will turn off if this button is pressed.
Always have the switch in the off
position when the vanity mirror
lamp is not in use. If the sunvisor
is closed without the lamp off, it
may discharge the battery or dam-
age the sunvisor.
Puddle lamp (if equipped)
Welcome light
When all doors (and tailgate) are
closed and locked, the puddle lamp
will come on for 15 seconds if the
door is unlocked by the smart key or
outside door handle button.
