Switching the view

Adjusting the layout

Depending on the vehicle equipment, various lay-
outs may be available.
> Applies to: MMI: Select on the home screen:
SETTINGS > Display & brightness > Audi virtu-
al cockpit.
> To adjust the desired layout, press @).
Setting the automatic layout change
Applies to: RS models
Requirement: depending on vehicle equipment,
the RS Performance or RS Runway layout must
be set.
> Applies to: MMI: Select on the home screen:
SETTINGS > Display & brightness > Audi virtu-
al cockpit > Configure > Automatic activation
of RS layout.
Depending on vehicle equipment, the RS Per-
formance or RS Runway layout will be automati-
cally set when switching into the RS modes
=> page 111.
Adjusting the additional display
Applies to: Audi virtual cockpit
Depending on the vehicle equipment, the addi-
tional displays that can be selected may vary.

Reducing the display
Depending on the vehicle equipment, you can
hide the central area in the instrument cluster.
> Applies to: analog instrument cluster: Press the
VIEW button on the multifunction steering
wheel.
> Applies to: Audi virtual cockpit: Select on the
instrument cluster: vehicle functions tab >
button > Reduced display.
Coolant temperature
display
Applies to: vehicles with a coolant temperature indicator
The coolant temperature display @ > page 12
only functions when the ignition is switched on.
To reduce the risk of engine damage, please ob-
serve the following notes about the temperature
ranges.
Cold range
If only the LEDs at the bottom of the gauge turn
on, the engine has not reached operating tem-
perature yet. Avoid high engine speeds, full accel-
eration, and heavy engine loads.
Normal range
The engine has reached its operating tempera-
ture once the LEDs up to the center of the gauge
turn on. If the | indicator light in the instru-
ment cluster display turns on, the coolant tem-
perature is too high > page 266.
() Note
— Auxiliary headlights and other accessories in
front of the air intake impair the cooling ef-
fect of the coolant. This increases the risk of
the engine overheating during high outside
temperatures and heavy engine load.
— The front spoiler also helps to distribute
cooling air correctly while driving. If the
spoiler is damaged, the cooling effect will
be impaired and the risk of the engine

Instrument cluster

Odometer
The trip odometer and odometer are displayed in
the status bar ©) > page 12.
The trip odometer shows the distance driven
since it was last reset. It can be used to measure
short distances. The odometer shows the total
distance that the vehicle has been driven.
Resetting the trip odometer
> Select on the instrument cluster: vehicle func-
tions tab > =] button > Reset mi.
@ Tips
Distances are displayed in mi (miles) or km
(kilometers).
Outside temperature
display
The outside temperature is displayed in the sta-
tus bar ©) 9 page 12.
If your vehicle is stationary or if you are driving at
very low speeds, the temperature displayed in
the instrument cluster may be slightly higher
than the actual temperature outside due to heat
radiating from the engine.
At temperatures below 41 °F (+5 °C), a snowflake
symbol appears in front of the temperature dis-
play > A.

Z\ WARNING
Do not assume the roads are free of ice based
on the outside temperature display. Be aware
that there may be ice on roads even when the
outside temperature is around 41 °F (+5 °C)
and that ice can increase the risk of accidents.

Engine oil temperature
indicator
Applies to: vehicles with Audi virtual cockpit
Depending on the vehicle equipment, the engine
oil temperature %7 may be indicated by a bar in
the instrument cluster.

> Open the vehicle functions tab and switch to
the enhanced view > page 14.
When engine oil temperatures are low, the dis-
play --- °F (--- °C) appears in the instrument clus-
ter. The engine has reached its operating temper-
ature when the engine oil temperature is be-
tween 176 °F (80 °C) and 248 °F (120 °C) under
normal driving conditions. The engine oil temper-
ature may be higher if there is heavy engine load
and high temperatures outside. This is not a
cause for concern as long as the E or = indica-
tor lights do not turn on.
Boost indicator
Applies to: vehicles with boost indicator
Depending on vehicle equipment, the current en-
gine load (meaning the current boost pressure)
may be indicated by a bar in the instrument clus-
ter.
> Open the vehicle functions tab and switch to
the enhanced view > page 14.
Shift light indicator
Applies to: RS models
The shift light indicator informs the driver when
the RPM limit is reached.
> Select the RS Performance or RS Runway lay-
out if necessary > page 14.
The shift light indicator is displayed with green,
yellow and red ranges in the upper areas of the
tachometer. The shift light indicator will blink red
when approaching the engine speed limit. Shift
to the next highest gear at the right time.
Sport displays
Applies to: RS models
Various sport displays, such as a G meter or tire
pressure indicator, may be available depending
on vehicle equipment.
Opening sport displays in the instrument
cluster
> Select in the instrument cluster: Vehicle func-
tions tab > EE] button > Sport displays.

Exterior lighting
Switching the lights on and off

@ Light switch &
Press and hold @ until the desired light function
is selected. The selected function is displayed
briefly in the instrument cluster. When switching
on the ignition, the AUTO light function is auto-
matically selected.
— AUTO - The automatic headlights adapt to the
surrounding brightness automatically. The day-
time running lights* will automatically turn on.
In vehicles for certain markets, you can switch
the automatic daytime running lights* on and
off in the MMI.
— 20 - You can switch the low beam headlights on
manually once the ignition is switched on.
— 3 - You can switch the parking lights on at
speeds below 20 mph (32 km/h).
— USA models: OFF - You can switch off all light
functions at speeds under 6 mph (10 km/h).
— Canada models: OFF - You can switch off all
light functions when the ignition is switched off
while the vehicle is stationary.
When the low beam headlights or parking lights
are switched on, the respective Ba or EB indica-
tor light appears in the instrument cluster.
@ All-weather lights 2
The headlights automatically adjust so that there
will be less glare, for example when the road sur-
face is wet.

@ Rear fog lights %
To reduce glare for traffic behind your vehicle, the
rear fog lights should only be turned on in ac-
cordance with the legal regulations in the coun-
try where you are operating the vehicle.
Automatic headlight range control
Your vehicle is equipped with automatic head-
light range control. It reduces glare for oncoming
traffic if the vehicle load changes. The headlight
range adjusts automatically.
Audi adaptive light
Applies to: vehicles with Audi adaptive light
Audi adaptive light provides better visibility when
driving in the dark. The lights are adapted to the
road conditions based on speed, such as when
driving on expressways, rural roads, at intersec-
tions, and around curves. The adaptive light only
functions when the automatic headlights are ac-
tivated.

ZA WARNING
— Observe the safety precautions and note the
limits of the assist systems, sensors, and
cameras > page 138.
— Automatic headlights are only intended to
assist the driver. The driver is still responsi-
ble for controlling the headlights and may
need to switch them on and off manually
depending on light and visibility conditions.
For example, fog cannot be detected by the
light sensors. So always switch on the low
beams ZO under these weather conditions

and when driving in the dark.

@ Tips
— If the vehicle battery has been discharging
for a while, the parking light may switch off
automatically. Avoid using the parking
lights for several hours.
— When using lighting equipment, the driver
is responsible for adhering to any local ap-
plicable regulations while driving and when
parking the vehicle.
— Only the front headlights turn on when the
daytime running lights are switched on*. In >

The B indicator light turns on if the laser lights
are switched on.
The laser lights are switched off when the speed
decreases below approximately 30 mph (50
km/h) or when the high beam assistant switches
the LED headlights off.

Nv WARNING
— Observe the safety precautions and note the
limits of the assist systems, sensors, and
cameras > page 138.
— All repair procedures on the headlights must
be performed by an authorized Audi dealer
or authorized Audi Service Facility that will
perform the work according to Audi factory
specifications. Incorrect repairs could result
in eye injury, impair the function, and may
void the vehicle's operating license.
— Opening the laser module is not permitted
and could cause permanent injuries to the
eyes.
— Dangerous exposure to laser beams may oc-
cur if the covers are removed or if the head-
lamp module housing is opened.

G) Tips
— The headlight contains a class 4 laser. The
technical design converts the laser beam so
that there is no danger when it is used for
its intended purpose.
—The laser beam emission from the head-
lamp has been classified in accordance with
IEC 60825-1:2007.
— The possible emission is below the thresh-
old for laser class 2.
—
Maximum laser beam output: 5W (continu-
ous emission), wavelength range A= 400 nm
- 700 nm.
— The headlamp light functions are rated in
accordance with IEC 62471-5:2015.
— The beam emitted from the headlamp was
classified as risk group 2.
Adjusting the exterior lighting
You can adjust the exterior lighting separately.
The settings depend on the vehicle equipment.
> Applies to: MMI: Select on the home screen:
VEHICLE > Light & Visibility > Exterior light-
ing.
Automatic headlights
You can adjust the following settings in the Auto-
matic
headlights menu:
Activation time - You can adjust if the headlights
switch on Early, Medium, or Late based on the
sensitivity of the light sensor.
High beam assistant - You can switch the high
beam assistant on and off.
Laser lights - You can switch the laser lights on
and off.
Entry/exit lighting
The Entry/exit lighting illuminates the area
around the vehicle when the vehicle is unlocked
or when the driver’s door is opened while the ig-
nition is off. The entry/exit lighting works when it
is dark and when the AUTO light function is
switched on. The front and rear daytime running
lights* switch on automatically each time the ve-
hicle is unlocked regardless of how bright it is
outside the vehicle.
Daytime running lights
USA models: The daytime running lights can be
switched on and off.
Canada models: The daytime running lights can-
not be switched off. The lights activate automati-
cally each time the ignition is switched on.

the safety belt into the belt latch that belongs
to that seat until it audibly locks.
> Pull the upper belt out completely and then al-
low it to retract. You will hear a clicking sound
while the belt is retracting. It will not be possi-
ble to pull the safety belt out any farther.
> Push the child safety seat into the seat and al-
low the belt to retract more.
> Make sure that the child safety seat cannot
move more than 1 inch (2.5 cm).
Deactivating the belt retractor lock
> Unbuckle the safety belt from the belt latch.
> Remove the child safety seat according to the
manufacturer instructions.
> Allow the safety belt to retract completely. The
belt retractor lock is deactivated.


ZA WARNING
— A safety belt that is not locked by the belt
retractor lock or a locking device cannot se-
cure a child safety seat while driving or in
the event of an accident, which increases the
risk of fatal injury. Always make sure the
belt retractor lock on the safety belt is acti-
vated if the child safety seat manufacturer
instructions require it.
— Due to the risk of fatal injury, never place a
rear-facing child safety seat on the front
passenger's seat when the front passenger's
airbag is switched on.
— For the child safety seat to offer the maxi-
mum protection, it is especially important
to route the vehicle safety belt correctly. Al-
ways follow the instructions from the child
safety seat manufacturer for routing the
safety belt correctly. Incorrectly fastened
safety belts can cause injuries, even during
minor accidents.

Observe the safety precautions > page 76.
There is a top tether anchor behind every seat in
the rear bench seat to additionally secure a child
safety seat with an upper belt.
> Move the head restraint behind the child safety
seat upward.
> Secure the child safety seat according to the
child safety seat manufacturer instructions.
> Guide the upper belt on the child safety seat
under the head restraint or along both sides of
it and toward the rear (depending on the child
safety seat model).
» Fasten the belt to the top tether anchor
=> fig. 62. While doing this, make sure the belt
is not twisted and is not running over any sharp
edges.
> Pull the belt tightly so that the child safety seat
rests at the top of the seat backrest.
> If necessary, move the head restraint behind
the child safety seat downward.

Warm and cold

Control panel in rear
You can operate certain climate control functions
in the rear using the control panel.
Customizing
A climate control function from the upper display
can be assigned to each button to the left and
right of +++ in area @).
> Press and hold the symbol for the desired func-
tion on the upper display for at least three sec-
onds. A menu that consists of two sections ap-
pears.
> If you pull the symbol toward the left section,
the button to the left of «++ will be assigned.
> If you pull the symbol toward the right section,
the button to the right of ++ will be assigned.
Press the buttons to turn the functions on or off.
One bar in the button or the LED in the button
will light up when the function is switched on.
Some buttons can have several functions as-
signed to them. The various functions can be ac-
tivated by pressing the button multiple times.
AUTO Automatic mode
The automatic mode regulates the amount of air
and air distribution automatically, so that the set
temperature is reached is quickly as possible.
REAR Rear climate control system
To enable operation of the climate control sys-
tem from the rear of the vehicle, press REAR.
To exit this mode again, press REAR or
REAR MODE EXIT.
SYNC Synchronization
When synchronization is switched on, the tem-
perature, air distribution, and blower strength on
the driver's side is applied to all seat positions.
You can also control the synchronization directly
using a gesture. Pull two fingers together on the
lower display > page 19.

OFF Switching off
The climate control system is switched off. Air
supply from the outside is blocked. If you press
OFF in the front, the front and rear climate con-
trol system will switch off. If you press OFF in the
rear, the rear climate control system will switch
off. To switch the climate control system back on,
press on any button in the respective display.
A/C / ME Cooling mode
The cooling mode only functions with the blower
turned on. The air is not cooled and humidity is
not reduced when cooling mode is switched off.
This can cause fog on the windows. The cooling
mode switches off automatically at low outside
temperatures.
If you activate the A/C, the cooling mode will be
automatically regulated.
If you activate 4/6, the cooling mode will run with
maximum cooling output and maximum blower
speed. To reduce unnecessary energy usage, only
use this function briefly.
+ /- Temperature
Temperatures between 60 °F (+16 °C) and 84 °F
(+28 °C) can be set. If outside of this range,
LOW / LO or HIGH / HI will appear in the display.
In both settings, the climate control runs con-
stantly at the maximum cooling or heating level.
The temperature is not regulated.
§8 Blower
With  / A, you can manually adjust the vol-
ume of air generated by the blower to your pref-
erences. The blower should always run at a low
setting to prevent the windows from fogging and
to ensure a continuous exchange of air inside the
vehicle. To have the blower regulated automati-
cally, press AUTO.
2 Air distribution
With °@/<>/%, you can select the vents from
which the air will flow. To have the air distribu-
tion controlled automatically, press the AUTO
button or deactivate all three arrows. With “2,
the air will be directed toward the windshield. >
