The theft-alarm system is designed to provide protection from unauthorized entry into the vehicle. This system
is operated in three
stages: the first is the “armed” stage, the sec-ond is the “alarm” stage, and third is the “dis- armed” stage. If triggered, the system provides both audible a

system as described below. 1. Except for vehicles

F.A.S.T.-key, remove the key from theignition switch. For vehicles equipped with the F.A.S.T.- key, put the operation mode in OFF.2. Make sure that the engine hood is closed. 3. Lock all doors and the liftgate by using the keyless entry system or the F.A.S.T.-key operation.
At this time, the theft-alarm indicator (A) in the instrument cl

mized. If the buffeting
occurs with the rear
door windows open, open the front door win-dows as well as the rear door windows to minimize the condition.

The sunroof can be opened and closed withthe ignition switch or the operation mode in ON. Press the switch (1), the sunroof automati- cally opens. To stop the moving sunroof, press the switch.
Press the switch (3), the sunroof automati- cally closes. To stop the moving sunroof, press the switch. When the switch (2) is pressed, the rear of the sunroof raises for ventilation. Press the switch (3). The sunroof can be operated when the igni- tion switch or the operation mode is in ON.The sunroof can be opened or closed for a 30- second period after th

When the parking brake is applied, the brake warning light in the instrument cluster andthe indicator light (A) on the Electric parking brake switch will come on. When parking on a hill, set the parking brake, and turn the front wheels toward the curb on adownhill, or away from
the curb on an uphill.
CAUTIONWhile the vehicle is in
motion, do not apply
the Electric parking
brake. Doing so may
cause overheating and/or
premature wear of
brake parts, reducing brake performance. NOTE
 In the following condi
tions, the brake warn-
ing light will illuminate for approximately15 seconds and then go off. • While the Electric pa
rking brake is applied,
the ignition switch is turned to the “OFF” position or the opera
tion mode is put in
OFF. • While the ignition switch is in the “OFF” position or the operation mode is in OFF,the Electric pa
rking brake switch is pulled
up.
 If the Electric parking
brake must be applied
in an emergency situation, pull and hold theElectric parking brake
switch to apply the
Electric parking brake. At that time, the fol- lowing warning display will appear in the multi-information disp
lay and a buzzer will
sound, however you shoul
d continue to pull
and hold the Electric
parking brake switch.
 When parking on steep grades, pull up the Electric parking brak
e switch twice (once
more after the operati
on is completed once).
The maximum effect of the parking brakewill be obtained.  If the parking brake does not hold the vehicle stationary after the foot brake is released, contact an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer or a repair facility of your choice.  When the ignition switch or the operation mode is other than ON, if the Electric park-ing brake is applied, the Electric parking brake indicator light comes on for a while.NOTE
 If the Electric parking brake switch is repeat- edly operated in a short time, the followingwarning display will
appear in the multi-
information display and
the Electric parking
brake will temporarily
stop working. In such
case, wait for approxi
mately 1 minute until
the warning display di
sappears, and operate
the Electric parki

The outside mirror can be retracted towards the side window to prevent damage when parking in tight locations. Push the mirror towards the back of the vehi- cle with your hand to retract it in. When extending the mirror, pull it out towards thefront of the vehicle until it clicks to lock in place.
With the ignition switch in the “ON” or “ACC” position or the operation mode in ON or ACC, push the mirror retractor switch to retract the mirrors. Push it again to extend the mirrors to their original positions. After placing the ignition switch in the“LOCK” position or the operation mode in OFF, it is possible to retract and extend the mirrors using the mirror retractor switch forapproximately 30 seconds.

not properly lock in position. As a result, the mirror could move be
cause of the wind or
vibration while you are driving, and this mayprevent the driver’s rearward visibility.NOTE
 Be careful not to get your hands trapped while a mirror is moving.  If you move a mirror by hand or it moves after hitting a person or object, you may not be able to return it to its original positionusing the mirror retractor switch. If this hap- pens, push the mirror retractor switch to place the mirror in its retracted position andthen push the switch again to return the mir- ror to its original position.  When freezing has occu
rred and mirrors fail
to operate as intended, please refrain from repeated pushing of the retractor switch asthis action can result
in burn-out of the mir-
ror motor circuits.
