R open doors, thereby endangering other
persons or road users.

In addition, thech ildren could also set the
ve hicle in motion, forex ample by:
R releasing the parking brake.
R changing the transmission position.

The indicator lamps in the instrument clus ter
light up.
The ignition is switched off again if one of the
fo llowing conditions is me t:
R you do not start theve hicle within
15 minutes and the transmission is in posi‐
tion jorthe electric parking brake is
applied.

Combustion engines emit poisonous exhaust
ga ses such as carbon monoxide. Inhaling
th ese exhaust gases is hazardous tohealth

enclosed space wi thout suf ficient venti‐
lation. &

% Ifth e sy stem de tects an intelli gent stop
inhibitor, e.g. a stop sign, the engine will not

If yo u activate the HOLD function or engage
th e park position j,the engine can be
switched off in spite of an intelligent stop
inhibitor.
The engine is restar ted automatically if:
R you en gage transmission position hork.
R you depress the accelera tor pedal.
R an auto matic engine start is requ ired bythe
ve hicle.
R youre lease the brake pedal.
R vehicles with a 48 V on-board electrical
sy stem:
- youre lease the brake pedal on a downhill
gradient and theve hicle does not roll. -
theve hicle rolls on a downhill gradient
and does not automatically enter glide
mode at 20 km/h.
ECO start/ stop function symbols in the multi‐
function display:
R the symbol è(green) appears when the
ve hicle is at a standstill: the engine was
switched off bythe ECO start/ stop function.
R the symbol ç(yellow) appears when the
ve hicle is at a standstill: not all vehicle condi‐
tions for an engine stop ha vebeen met.
R neither the symbol ènorç appears
when theve hicle is at a standstill: an intelli‐
ge nt stop inhibitor was de tected, e.g. a stop
sign.
R the symbol sappears: the ECO start/
st op function is deactivated or there is a mal‐
function.
If th e engine was switched off bythe ECO start/
st op function and you lea vetheve hicle, a warn‐
ing tone sounds and the engine is not restar ted.
In addition, thefo llowing display message
appears in the multifunction display: Vehicle is operational Switch off ignition before
exiting
If yo u do not swit choff the ignition, it is auto‐
matically switched off af terth re e minutes.

st op function is activated.

The lettering in the segment will be gr ey,the
outer edge will be dark and the segment will

The ECO display will show you when you ha ve
driven economically:
R The thre e segments will fill up comple tely at
th e same time
R The edges around all thre e segments will
light up
The additional range achi eved as a result of your
driving style in comparison with a driver with a
ve ry sporty driving style will be shown in the
centre of the display 4. Therange displ ayed
does not indicate a fixe dre duction in consump‐
tion. ECO Assist function
Ve
hicles with a 48 V on-board electrical sys‐
te m (EQ Boo sttech nology):
ECO Assist analyses data forth eve hicle's expec‐
te dro ute. This allo wsthe sy stem tooptimally
adjust the driving style fo rth ero ute ahead, sa ve
fuel and recuperate. If the sy stem de tects an
eve nt ahead, e.g. a speed limit or a roundabout, Driving and parking

When the automatic transmission is in transmis‐

Stop theve hicle in accordance with the traf‐
fi c conditions. #

th an anticipatory driving style, Glide mode
helps youto reduce fuel consum ption.
Glide mode is characterised bythefo llowing:
R the combustion engine is disconnected from
th e driv etra in and continues torun in neutral.
R the transmission position display his
shown in green.
R vehicles with 48 V on-board electrical
sy stem (EQ-Boost technology): the com‐
bustion engine can be switched off. All of the
ve hicle functions remain active.
Glide mode is activated if thefo llowing condi‐
tions are me t:
R drive program ;is selected.
R the speed is within a suitable range. R
thero ad's course is suitable, e.g. no steep
uphill or downhill inclines or tight bends.
R there is no trailer hitched up tothe trailer
hitch, and no bicycle rack fitted.
R you do not depress the accelera tor or brake
pedal (e xcept for light brake applications).
% Glide mode can also be activated if you ha ve
selected the "Eco" setting forth e drive in the
drive prog ram =.
Glide mode is deactivated again if one of the
conditions is no longer met.
Glide mode can also be pr evented bythefo llow‐

On slippery roads. Accelerating can cause
th e drive wheels tolose traction and the
ve hicle could then skid.
R Ifyo u are driving when visibility is poor.
Fu nction of the limiter
The limiter restricts the speed of theve hicle. To
re duce the speed tothe set speed, the limiter
applies the brakes automaticall y.
Yo u can limit the speed as follo ws:
R Variable: for a short-term speed restriction,
e.g. in built-up areas
R Perm anen t:for a longer-term speed restric‐
tion, e.g. in winter tyre mode
Yo u can store any speed abo ve20 km/h up to
th e maximum design speed or up tothe set win‐
te r tyre limit. You can also per form settings
while theve hicle is stationary if theve hicle has
been star ted.

Me rcedes‑AMG vehicles: the limiter is available
up toa maximum speed of 250 km/h. Displ

pla y.The segments in the speedome ter light up,

When the driving speed is greater than the

Kickd own
If yo u depress the accelera tor pedal be yond the
pressure point (kickdown), theva riable limiter
swit ches topassive mode. The Limiter pas-
sive message appears in the multifunction dis‐
pla y.
Af ter completion of kickdown, theva riable lim‐
iter is activated again in thefo llowing situations:
R Ifth eve hicle speed drops below thestored
speed.
R Ifth estored speed is called up.
R Ifyo ustore a new speed. Operating cruise control or
theva riable lim‐

If yo u call up thestored speed and this is
