Sunroof open warning
(if equipped)
If the driver removes the ignition key
(smart key: turns off the engine) and
opens the driver-side door when the
sunroof is not fully closed, the warning
chime will sound for a few seconds
and a warning image will appear on
the LCD display.
Close the sunroof securely when
leaving your vehicle.
CAUTION
Do not extend any luggage out-
side the sunroof while driving.
WARNING
In order to prevent accidental
operation of the sunroof, do not
let a child operate the sunroof.
WARNING
Do not sit on the top of the vehi-
cle. It may cause vehicle dam-
age.

Make sure the sunroof is fullyclosed when leaving your vehi-cle. If the sunroof is opened, rainor snow may leak through thesunroof and wet the interior aswell as allow theft to occur.

Sliding the sunroof
To open the sunroof automatically:
Pull the sunroof control lever back-
ward to the second detent position
and then release it. The sunroof will
slide all the way open.
The sunroof will slide to the recom-
mended open position (5 cm (about
2 in.) before the maximum slide open
position).
To stop the sunroof sliding at any
point, pull or push the sunroof control
lever briefly.To open the sunroof to the maximum
slide open position, press the switch
towards the rear of the vehicle once
again and hold it until the sunroof
slides all the way open.
To reduce wind noise while driving,
we recommend you drive at the rec-
ommended position (about 5 cm (2
in) before the maximum slide open
position).
To close the sunroof automatically:
Push the sunroof control lever for-
ward to the second detent position
and then release it. The sunroof will
automatically close all the way.
To stop the sunroof sliding at any
point, pull or push the sunroof control
lever briefly.
While driving with the sunroof in an
open (or partially open position),
your vehicle may demonstrate a wind
buffeting or pulsation noise. This
noise is a normal occurrence and
can be reduced or eliminated by tak-
ing the following actions. If you expe-
rience the noise with the sunroof
open, slightly reduce the size of the
sunroof opening.

Automatic reversal
If an object or part of the body is
detected while the sunroof glass or
sunshade is closing automatically, it
will reverse the direction, and then
stop.
The auto reverse function does not
work if a tiny obstacle is between the
sliding glass or sunshade and the
sunroof chassis. You should always
check that all passengers and
objects are away from the sunroof
before closing it.
Tilting the sunroof
To tilt open the sunroof, push the
sunroof control lever upward until the
sunroof moves to the desired posi-
tion.
To close the sunroof, push the sun-
roof lever forward or pull downward
until the sunroof moves to the
desired position.

Make sure heads, other body
parts or other objects are safely
out of the way before closing
the window to avoid injuries or
vehicle damage.
Objects less than 4 mm (0.16
inch) in diameter caught
between the sunroof glass and
the front window channel may
not be detected by the auto-
matic reverse window and the
window will not stop and
reverse direction.

Sunshade
When opening the sunroof, the sun-
shade will also open. Once the sun-
roof is closed, the sunshade can be
manually closed.
Resetting the sunroof
Whenever the vehicle battery is dis-
connected or discharged, or related
fuse is blown, you must reset your
sunroof system as follows:
1.The ignition switch must be in theON position.
2.Close the sunroof completely.
3.Release the control lever.
4.Push the control lever forward until the sunroof tilts and slightly moves
up and down. Then, release lever.
5.Push the control lever forward until the sunroof is operated as follows:
TILT OPEN → SLIDE OPEN →
SLIDE CLOSE
Then, release the control lever.
✽ ✽ NOTICE
Do not release the lever until the
operation is completed.
If you release the lever during oper-
ation, try again from step 2.
CAUTION- Sunroof
motor damage
If you try to open the sunroofwhen the temperature is belowfreezing or when the sunroof iscovered with snow or ice, theglass or the motor could bedamaged.
WARNING- Sunroof
Be careful that no head, hands and body parts are obstructed
by a closing sunroof.
Do not extend the face, neck, arms or body outside the sun-
roof while driving.

This warning is displayed if youturn off the engine when the sun-
roof is open. Engine has overheated
This warning message illuminates
when the engine coolant tempera-
ture is above 120°C (248°F). This
means that the engine is overheated
and may be damaged.

If your vehicle is overheated, refer
to “Overheating” in chapter 7.
Shift to P (for smart key system and
intelligent variable transmission)
This warning message illuminates if you try to turn off the engine without
the shift lever in P (Park) position.
At this time, the Engine Start/Stop Button turns to the ACC position (If
you press the Engine Start/Stop
Button once more, it will turn to the
ON position). Low Key Battery
(for smart key system)
This warning message illuminates
if the battery of the smart key is
discharged when the Engine
Start/Stop Button changes to the
OFF position.
Press START button while turn steer-
ing (for smart key system)
This warning message illuminates if the steering wheel does not
unlock normally when the Engine
Start/Stop Button is pressed.
It means that you should press the Engine Start/Stop Button while
turning the steering wheel right
and left.

The outside (fresh) air position is
automatically selected, when the
sunroof is opened.
When you select the recirculated air
position, the system maintains the
recirculated air position for 3 minutes
and then automatically converts to
the outside (fresh) air position.
When the sunroof is closed, the air
intake position will return to the orig-
inal position that was selected.
WARNING
The oil and refrigerant in your
vehicle’s air conditioning sys-
tem is under very high pressure.
If proper service procedures are
not followed an explosion may
result. To reduce the risk of seri-
ous injury or death, the air con-
ditioning system in your vehicle
should only be serviced by
trained and certified technicians.

It is important that the correcttype and amount of oil andrefrigerant is used, otherwisedamage to the vehicle mayoccur. To prevent damage, theair conditioning system in yourvehicle should only be servicedby trained and certified techni-cians.
