PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION
MyKey allows you to program keys with
restricted driving modes to promote good
driving habits. All but one of the keys can
be activated with these restricted modes.
Any keys that remain unprogrammed are
referred to as administrator keys or admin
keys. They can be used to:
•
Create a MyKey.
• Program configurable MyKey settings.
• Clear all MyKey features.
When you have created a MyKey, you can
access the following information by using
the information display to determine:
• How many admin keys and MyKeys are
programmed to your vehicle.
• The total distance your vehicle traveled
with a MyKey.
Note: Switch the vehicle on to use the
system.
Note: All MyKeys are programmed to the
same settings. You cannot program them
individually.
Note: For vehicles with push-button start,
when both a MyKey and an admin key are
present, the vehicle will recognize the admin
key when you switch the vehicle on.
Non-Configurable Settings
The following settings cannot be changed
by an admin key user:
• Seatbelt reminder. You cannot disable
this feature. The audio system will
mute when the driver and front-seat
passenger seatbelts are not fastened.
• Early low fuel or charge. The low-fuel
or low charge warning activates earlier,
giving the MyKey user more time to
refuel or recharge. •
Restricted touchscreen operation in
some markets. For example, MyKey
may prevent manual navigation
destination input when the vehicle is in
any gear other than park (P), or when
the vehicle reaches a certain rate of
speed.
• Satellite radio adult content
restrictions, if available on your vehicle.
Note: If a phone is connected using Apple
CarPlay or Android Auto when driving with
a MyKey, the driver can receive phone calls
and text messages even if the do not disturb
restriction is on. If the vehicle comes with
satellite radio, the adult content is not
restricted.
Note: The audio system may not mute with
a basic AM/FM radio.
Note: You may be able to turn the lane
departure warning feature off, but the
feature will automatically re-activate with
every new key cycle.
Configurable Settings
With an admin key, you can configure
certain MyKey settings when you first
create a MyKey and before you restart the
vehicle. You can also change the settings
afterward with an admin key.
Note: Available vehicle features will appear
in your information display, providing you
with choices to switch them on or off, or to
select a more specific setting. WARNING: Do not set MyKey
maximum speed limit to a limit that will
prevent the driver from maintaining a
safe speed considering posted speed
limits and prevailing road conditions. The
driver is always responsible to drive in
accordance with local laws and
prevailing conditions. Failure to do so
could result in accident or injury.

•
A vehicle speed limit can be set.
Warnings will be shown in the display
followed by an audible tone when your
vehicle reaches the set speed. You
cannot override the set speed by fully
depressing the accelerator pedal or by
setting cruise control.
• Various vehicle speed minders can be
set. Once you select a speed, it will be
shown in the display, followed by an
audible tone when the preselected
vehicle speed is exceeded.
• Audio system maximum volume of
45%. A message will be shown in the
display when you attempt to exceed
the limited volume. Also, the
speed-sensitive or compensated
automatic volume control will be
disabled.
• Always on setting. When this is
selected, you will not be able to switch
off AdvanceTrac ™ or traction control,
911 Assist or Emergency Assistance, or
the do not disturb feature, if your
vehicle comes with these features.
CREATING A MYKEY
Use the information display to create a
MyKey:
1. Insert the key you want to program into
the ignition. If your vehicle has a
push-button start, place the remote
control into the backup slot. See
Starting a Gasoline Engine (page
158).
2. Switch the ignition on.
3. Access the main menu in the information display and then scroll
through the menus to change the
settings of your MyKey. From the
MyKey menu select the option Create
MyKey. See
Information Displays
(page 105). 4. Select
Yes if you want to create the
key as MyKey. A confirmation message
appears on the screen.
5. Switch the ignition off.
You successfully created a MyKey. Make
sure you label it so you can distinguish it
from the admin keys.
You can also program configurable
settings for the key(s). See
Programming
and Changing Configurable Settings.
Programming and Changing
Configurable Settings
Use the information display to access your
configurable MyKey settings.
1. Switch the ignition on using an admin key or transmitter you want to program.
2. Access the main menu in the information display and then scroll
through the menus to change the
settings of your MyKey. See
Information Displays
(page 105).
3. Follow the instructions in the display. The programmed restrictions apply
when you switch the vehicle off, open
and close the driver door and restart
your vehicle with the programmed key
or transmitter.
Note: You can clear or change your MyKey
settings at any time during the same key
cycle as you created the MyKey. Once you
have switched the vehicle off, however, you
need an admin key to change or clear your
MyKey settings. When you make any
changes to your MyKey settings, you change
the settings for every MyKey. You cannot
make individual changes to apply to certain
MyKeys.

LOCKING AND UNLOCKING
You can use the power door lock control
or the remote control to lock and unlock
your vehicle.
Power Door Locks
The power door lock control is on the driver
and front passenger door panels.

Door Lock Indicator
An LED on each door window trim
illuminates when you lock the door. It
remains on for up to 10 minutes after you
switch the ignition off.
Door Lock Switch Inhibitor
When you electronically lock your vehicle,
the power door lock switch no longer
operates after 20 seconds. You must
unlock your vehicle with the remote control
or keyless keypad, or switch the ignition
on, to restore function to these switches.
You can switch this feature on or off in the
information display. See General
Information (page 105).
Rear Door Unlocking and Opening
Pull the interior door handle twice to
unlock and open a rear door. The first pull
unlocks the door and the second pull
unlatches the door. Remote Control
You can use the remote control at any
time. The luggage compartment release
button only operates when your vehicle's
speed is less than
5 mph (8 km/h).
Unlocking the Doors Press the button to unlock the
driver door.
Press the button again within
three seconds to unlock all doors. The
direction indicators flash.
Note: If the system does not function, use
the key blade to lock and unlock your
vehicle.
Press and hold both the lock and unlock
buttons on the remote control for three
seconds to change between driver door or
all doors unlock mode. The direction
indicators flash twice to indicate a change
to the unlocking mode. Driver door unlock
mode only unlocks the driver door when
the unlock button is pressed once. All door
unlock mode unlocks all doors when the
unlock button is pressed once. The
unlocking mode applies to the remote
control, keyless entry keypad and
intelligent access. You can also change the
mode in the information display. See
General Information
(page 105).
Reprogramming the Unlocking Function
Note: When you press the unlock button,
either all the doors are unlocked or only the
driver door is unlocked. Pressing the unlock
button again unlocks all the doors.
Press and hold the unlock and lock buttons
on the remote control simultaneously for
at least four seconds with the ignition off.
The direction indicators flash twice to
confirm the change.
To return to the original unlocking function,
repeat the process.

GENERAL INFORMATION
Condensation in the Exterior Front
Lamps and Rear Lamps
Exterior front lamps and rear lamps have
vents to accommodate normal changes
in air pressure.
Condensation can be a natural by-product
of this design. When moist air enters the
lamp assembly through the vents, there is
a possibility that condensation can occur
when the temperature is cold. When
normal condensation occurs, a fine mist
can form on the interior of the lens. The
fine mist eventually clears and exits
through the vents during normal operation.
Clearing time may take as long as 48 hours
under dry weather conditions.
Examples of acceptable condensation are:
•
The presence of a fine mist (no streaks,
drip marks or large droplets).
• A fine mist covers less than 50% of the
lens.
Examples of unacceptable condensation
are:
• A water puddle inside the lamp.
• Streaks, drip marks or large droplets
present on the interior of the lens.
If you see any unacceptable condensation,
have your vehicle checked by an authorized
dealer. LIGHTING CONTROL Lamps off.

Note:
The brightness of the daytime running
lamps may decrease when the front fog
lamps are switched on.
Front Fog Lamp Indicator It illuminates when you switch
the front fog lamps on.
ADAPTIVE HEADLAMPS (IF
EQUIPPED)
The headlamp beams move in the same
direction as the steering wheel. This
provides more visibility when driving
around curves.
A. Without adaptive headlamps.
B. With adaptive headlamps. The system only works with the lighting
control in the autolamp position. You can
switch this feature on or off in the
information display.
Note:
There is a delay of two to five
seconds before the system operates when
you drive your vehicle.
Note: The system is only active at speeds
above
3 mph (5 km/h).
System Check
(If Equipped)
The system has a power-up movement
check feature. When you start your vehicle,
the lamps track left to right, then back to
center to alert the driver that the system
is working properly.
DIRECTION INDICATORS Push the lever up or down to use the
direction indicators.
Note:
Tap the lever up or down to make the
direction indicators flash three times to
indicate a lane change.

Gate Operator / Canadian
Programming
Canadian radio-frequency laws require
transmitter signals to
“time-out” (or quit)
after several seconds of transmission –
which may not be long enough for
HomeLink to pick up the signal during
programming. Similar to this Canadian law,
some U.S. gate operators are designed to
“time-out” in the same manner.
Note: If programming a garage door opener
or gate operator, it is advised to unplug the
device during the “cycling” process to
prevent possible overheating.
1. Press and hold the HomeLink button while you press and release, every two
seconds, your hand-held transmitter
until the HomeLink indicator light
changes from a slow to a rapidly
blinking light.
2. Release both the HomeLink and hand-held transmitter buttons.
3. Continue programing HomeLink. See In-Vehicle Programming
.
Erasing the Function Button Codes
Note: You cannot erase individual buttons. 1. Press and hold the outer two function
buttons simultaneously for
approximately 20 seconds until the
indicator lights above the buttons flash
rapidly.
2. When the indicator lights flash, release
the buttons. The codes for all buttons
are erased.
Reprogramming a Single Button
To program a device to a previously trained
button, follow these steps:
1. Press and hold the desired button. Do NOT release the button.
2. The indicator light will begin to flash after 20 seconds. Without releasing the
button, follow Step 1 in the
Programming section.
