Air quality
The materials used in the passenger compart-ment and air filtering system have been selectedto ensure a high level of air quality in the passen-ger compartment.
Materials used in the passenger
compartment
The materials in the passenger compartment aredesigned to be pleasant and comfortable, evenfor people with asthma or allergies.
The materials have been developed and tested tominimize dust in the passenger compartment andmake it easier to keep clean.
The mats in both the passenger compartmentand cargo compartment can be easily removedfor cleaning.
Use Volvo-recommended cleaning agents andcar care products to clean the interior.
Air filtering systems
In addition to the passenger compartment filter, the Clean Zone Interior Package* and Interior AirQuality System* also help maintain high air qual-ity in the passenger compartment.

Clean Zone*
The Clean Zone function monitors the condi-tions affecting good air quality in the passengercompartment and indicates whether they are ful-filled or not.
The indicator is shown in the center display'sClimate view.
The indicator is shown in the climate barwhen Climate view is not open.
If the conditions are not met, the text CleanZone will be shown in white. When all the condi-tions are met, the text will change to blue.
Clean Zone monitors whether:
All doors and tailgate are closed.
All side windows and panoramic roof* areclosed.
The Interior Air Quality System* is activated.
The blower is activated.
Air recirculation is deactivated.
NOTE
Clean Zone does not indicate that the airquality is good, but only that the conditions forgood air quality have been met.

Clean Zone Interior Package*
Clean Zone Interior Package (CZIP) is a seriesof modifications that filters even more allergy andasthma-inducing substances from the passengercompartment.
CZIP includes the following:
An enhanced function that starts the blowerwhen the vehicle is unlocked using theremote key. The blower will then fill the pas-senger compartment with fresh air. The func-tion starts when required and switches offautomatically after a period of time or whenone of the passenger compartment doors isopened. The amount of time the blower runsgradually decreases due to reduced need upuntil the vehicle is 4 years old.
The fully automatic Interior Air QualitySystem (IAQS).

Interior Air Quality System*
Interior Air Quality System (IAQS) is a fully auto-matic air quality system that removes gases andparticles to reduce odors and contaminants inthe passenger compartment.
IAQS is part of the Clean Zone Interior Package(CZIP) and removes air contaminants such asparticles, hydrocarbons, nitric oxides and ground-level ozone.
If the system's air quality sensors detect contami-nants in the outside air, the air intake closes andair recirculation is activated.
NOTE
To ensure optimal air quality in the passengercompartment, the air quality sensor shouldalways be engaged.
Recirculation is limited in cold weather to pre-vent fogging.
In the event of fogging, use the defrosterfunctions for the windshield, side windowsand rear window.

Replacing the passenger compartment
filter
To maintain the high performance of the climatecontrol system, the filter must be replaced regu-larly. Follow Volvo's service schedule for recom-mended replacement intervals. When driving inareas with a lot of smog, dust, etc., the filter mayneed to be changed more frequently.
NOTE
There are two types of passenger compart-ment filters. Make sure that the correct filteris installed.

Air distribution
The climate system distributes incoming airthrough a number of vents in the passengercompartment.
Automatic and manual air distribution
When the auto-climate feature is on, air distribu-tion is regulated automatically. Air distribution canalso be controlled manually.
Adjustable air vents
Certain air vents in the vehicle are adjustable, which means they can be opened/closed and thedirection of the air flow from the vent can beadjusted.
Location of adjustable air vents in the passenger com-partment.
Four vents on the dashboard and one oneach of the pillars between the front and reardoors.

Engine compartment overview
This overview shows some service-related com-ponents.
Some of the components included in the vehi-cle's electric drive system are located in theengine compartment. Exercise caution whenaccessing the engine compartment and onlytouch what is required for normal maintenance.
WARNING
Orange wiring may only be handled by quali-fied personnel.
WARNING
Several components in the vehicle work withhigh voltage that can be hazardous in case ofan incorrect procedure.
Do not touch anything that is not clearlydescribed in this Owner's Manual.
Be careful when checking/filling fluids inthe engine compartment.
The layout of the engine compartment may vary depend-ing on model and engine variant.

Engine oil filler pipe
WARNING
Bear in mind that the cooling fan (located atthe front of the engine compartment behindthe radiator) may start or continue runningautomatically up to about 6 minutes after theengine is turned off.
Always entrust engine washing to a workshop– an authorized Volvo workshop is recom-mended. If the engine is hot, there is a risk offire.
WARNING
The ignition system works with extremely highand dangerous voltages. The vehicle electricalsystem should always be in ignition mode 0when work in being performed in the enginecompartment.
Do not touch any spark plugs or ignition coilswhen the vehicle electrical system is in igni-tion mode II or when the engine is warm.
