When installing the light bulb, install by conducting , and
with the directions reversed.
Install the lamp assembly
and then install the 2 screws.
Align the guide ( ) and pin
( ) on the lamp assembly with
the mounting when installing it.
Install the cover.

Back-up lights
Open the back door and
remove the cover.
Insert a flathead screwdriver or
similar into the hole at the top of
the cover and remove it as
shown in the illustration.
To prevent damaging the vehi-
cle, wrap the flathead screw-
driver with a tape.
Turn the bulb base counter-
clockwise.
Remove the light bulb.
When installing, reverse the steps listed.

License plate lights
Remove the lens.
Insert a properly sized screwdriver into the hole of the lens o n the inner
side and disengage the claw and pry the lens toward the outer s ide as
shown in the illustration.
To prevent damaging the vehicle, wrap the tip of the screwdriver with
tape.
Remove the light bulb.
When installing, reverse the steps listed.

Replacing the following bulbs
If any of the lights listed below has burnt out, have it replac
ed by
your Toyota dealer.
● Side turn signal lights
● Daytime running lights/ parking lights (LED type)
● Front fog lights (LED type)
● Stop lights
● Rear side marker lights
● Stop/tail lights
● High mounted stoplight
● Outer foot lights (if equipped)
■LED light bulbs
The side turn signal lights, daytime running lights/parking lig hts (LED type),
front fog lights (LED type), stop lights, rear side marker ligh ts, stop/tail lights,
high mounted stoplight and outer foot lights (if equipped) consist of a number
of LEDs. If any of the LEDs burns out, take your vehicle to you r Toyota dealer
to have the light replaced.
■ Condensation build-up on the inside of the lens
Temporary condensation build-up on the inside of the headlight lens does not
indicate a malfunction.
Contact your Toyota dealer for more information in the followin g situations:
● Large drops of water have built up on the inside of the lens.
● Water has built up inside the headlight.
■ When replacing light bulbs

■Replacing light bulbs
● Turn off the lights. Do not attempt to replace the bulb immedia tely after
turning off the lights.
The bulbs become very hot and may cause burns.
● Do not touch the glass portion of the light bulb with bare hands. When it is
unavoidable to hold the glass portion, use and hold with a clea n dry cloth
to avoid getting moisture and oils on the bulb.
Also, if the bulb is scratched or dropped, it may blow out or crack.
● Fully install light bulbs and any parts used to secure them. Fa ilure to do so
may result in heat damage, fire, or water entering the headligh t unit. This
may damage the headlights or cause condensation to build up on the lens.
■ To prevent damage or fire
Make sure bulbs are fully seated and locked.

If the emergency flashers are used for a long time while the en gine is not
operating, the battery may discharge.

Calmly perform the following actions if any of the warning ligh ts
comes on or flashes. If a light comes on or flashes, but then
goes off, this does not necessarily indicate a malfunction in the
system. However, if this continues to occur, have the vehicle
inspected by your Toyota dealer.

Indicates a malfunction in:
• The VSC (Vehicle Stability Control) system;
• The TRAC (Traction Control) system;
• The Trailer Sway Control;
• The hill-start assist control system; or
• The downhill assist control system

Low fuel level warning light
Indicates that remaining fuel is approximately 2.9 gal.

Refuel the vehicle.
Driver’s and front passenger’ s seat belt reminder light
(warning buzzer)

Warns the driver and/or front passenger to fasten their
seat belts
Fasten the seat belt.
If the front passenger’s seat is occupied, the front
passenger’s seat belt also needs to be fastened to
make the warning light (warning buzzer) turn off.
Rear seat seat belt remind er lights (warning buzzer)*5
Warns the second and/or third seat passengers to fasten
their seat belts. An indicator corresponding to an unfas-
tened second or third seat seat belt will illuminate.
Fasten the seat belt.
