WARNING Risk of skidding if ESP ®
is
deactivated
If yo u deactivate ESP ®
, ESP ®
cannot car ry

ESP ®
should on lybe deactivated in the
fo llowing situations. Mercedes‑AMG
vehicles: observeth e no tes in
th e Supplement. Otherwise, you may not recog‐
nize dangers.
ESP ®
can moni tor and impr ovedriving stability
and traction in thefo llowing situations, within
ph ysical limits:
R When pulling away on wet or slippe ryroad‐
wa y.
R When braking.
R Instro ng side winds when you are driving
fast erthan 50 mph (8 0 km/h). If
th eve hicle deviates from the direction desired
by the driver, ESP ®
can stabilize theve hicle by
inter vening in thefo llowing ways:
R One or more wheels are braked.
R The engine output is adap ted according to
th e situation.
ESP ®
is deactivated if the00BB ESP®
OFF warn‐
ing lamp lights up continuously in the instrument
clus ter:
R Driving stability will no lon ger be impr oved.
R Crosswind Assist is no longer active.
R The drive wheels could spin.
R ETS/4ETS traction control is still active.
% When ESP ®
is deactivated, you are still assis‐
te dby ESP ®
when braking.
ESP ®
is inter vening if the00E5 ESP®
wa rning
lamp flashes in the instrument clus ter:
R Do not deacti vate ESP ®
.
R Only depress the accelera tor pedal as far as
is necessar y. R
Adapt your driving style to suit the cur rent
ro ad and weather conditions.
It can make sense todeactivate ESP ®
in thefo l‐
lowing situations toimpr ovetraction:
R When using snow chains.
R In deep sn ow.
R On sand or gr avel.
% Spinning the wheels results in a cutting
action which pr ovides better grip.
If th e00E5 ESP®
wa rning lamp lights up continu‐
ousl y,ESP ®
is not available due toa malfunction.

the parking space is being measured.
These are also not take n into account when the
parking maneuver is calculated, e.g. overhanging
loads, overhangs or loading ramp s of truc ksor
th e boundaries of parking spaces. In some cir‐
cums tances, Active Parking Assist may therefore
guide you into the parking space prematurely. &
WARNING Risk of accident due to
objects located abo veor below the
de tection range of Active Parking Assist
If th ere are objects abo veor below the
de tection range, thefo llowing situations may
arise:
R Active Parking Assist may steer too ear ly.
R Vehicles with automatic transmis‐
sion: Thevehicle may not stop in front of
th ese objects.
This could cause a collision. #
Inthese situations, do not use Active
Pa rking Assist. Sn
owfa ll or heavy rain may lead toa parking
space being measured inaccuratel y.Pa rking spaces
that are partial lyoccupied bytrailer
dr aw bars might not be identified as such or be
measured incor rectly. Only use Active Parking
Assist on le vel, high-grip ground.
Do not useActive Parking Assist in thefo llowing
situations:
R Inextreme weather conditions such as ice,
pac ked snow or in heavy rain.
R When transporting a load that pr otru des
be yond theve hicle.
R Ifth e parking space is on a steep downhill or
uphill gradient.
R When snow chains are ins talled.
Ac tive Parking Assist may also display parking
spaces that are not suitable for parking, e.g.:
R Parking spaces where parking is prohibited.
R Parking spaces on unsuitable sur faces.
Ac tive Parking Assist will not assist you with
parking spaces at right angles tothe direction of
tr ave l in thefo llowing situations:
R If two parking spaces are located immedi‐
ately next toeach other. R
Ifth e parking space is immediately next to a
low obs tacle su chas a curb.
Ac tive Parking Assist will not assist you with
parking spaces parallel or at right angles tothe
direction of tr avel in thefo llowing situations:
R Ifth e parking space is on a curb.
R Ifth e parking space is bordered byan obs ta‐
cle, e.g. a tree, a post or a traile r. Driving and pa

WARNING Risk of accident due toincor‐
re ct mounting of snow chains
If yo u ha vemounted snow chains tothe front
wheels, the snow chains may drag against
th eve hicle body or chassis components. This could cause damage
totheve hicle or
th e tires. #
Never mount snow chains on the front

th e wheel trims can be damaged. #
Remo vethe wheel trims of steel wheels
before mounting snow chains. R
Snow chains are on ly permissible for cer tain
wheel/tire combinations. You can obtain
information about this from an authorized
Mercedes-Benz Center.
R For saf etyre asons, on lyuse sn ow chainsthat
ha ve been specifically appr oved foryo ur

with the same quality standard. R
If sn ow ch ains are ins talled, the maximum
permissible speed is 30 mph (50 km/h).
R Vehicles with Active Parking Assis t:Do
not use Parking Assist PARKTRONIC when
sn ow ch ains ha vebeen ins talled.
R Vehicles with AIR BODY CONT ROL or
MAGIC BODY CONT ROL:If sn owchains are
