cally closes slightly. This reduces drafts in the
vehicle interior.
At low speeds it raises again automatically.
If the panorama roof with power tilt/sliding
panel is raised at the rear, it automatically low-
ers slightly at higher speeds. The noise level in
the vehicle interior is reduced as a result.
You can also temporarily deactivate automatic
lowering. To do so, press the 0057switch. The
panorama roof with power tilt/sliding panel rai- ses again automatically.
You can continue to operate the panorama roof
with power tilt/sliding panel after you switch off
the engine or remove the SmartKey. This func-
tion remains active for five minutes or until you open a front door.
The panorama roof with power tilt/sliding panel cannot be opened if a roof carrier is installed.
The panorama roof with power tilt/sliding panelcan still be raised to allow ventilation of the
vehicle interior.
If the panorama roof with power tilt/sliding
panel makes contact with a roof carrier
approved by Mercedes-Benz, the sunroof will
lower slightly but remain raised at the rear.
Rain-closing feature The raised panorama roof with power tilt/sliding
panel automatically lowers when driving if it
starts to rain. The sliding sunroof is lowered
depending on:
R the road speed and
R the intensity of the rain
You can manually cancel the automatic closing
procedure. Press or pull the 0057switch in any
direction.
To raise the panorama roof with power tilt/slid- ing panel again, press the 0057switch in direc-
tion 0043. The rain-closing feature remains acti-
vated. Operating the roller sunblind for the

WARNING
Parts of the body could become trapped
between the roller sunblind and frame or slid- ing sunroof during automatic opening or clos-
ing. There is a risk of injury.
When opening or closing, make sure that no
body parts are in the sweep of the roller sun-
blind.
If somebody becomes trapped:
R release the switch immediately, or
R during automatic operation, push the
switch briefly in any direction
The opening or closing procedure will be stop-
ped.
The roller sunblind shields the vehicle interior
from sunlight. The roller sunblind can only be
closed when the panorama roof with power tilt/
sliding panel is closed.
Roller sunblind reversing feature The roller sunblind is equipped with an auto-
matic reversing feature. If a solid object blocks
or restricts the roller sunblind during the closing process, the roller sunblind opens again auto-
matically. The automatic reversing feature is
only an aid and is not a substitute for your atten-
tiveness when closing the roller sunblind. G
WARNING
The reversing feature does not react:
R to soft, light and thin objects, e.g. small fin-
gers
R when closing the roller sunblind again man-
ually immediately after automatic reversal
This means that the reversing feature cannot
prevent someone being trapped in these sit-
uations. There is a risk of injury.
When closing the roller sunblind, make sure
that no body parts are in the sweep area.
If somebody becomes trapped:
R release the switch immediately, or
R press the switch in any direction during the
automatic closing process

In the following section, the term "sliding sunroof" refers to the panorama roof with power tilt/
sliding panel. G
WARNING
If you close the sliding sunroof again immediately after it has been blocked or reset, the sliding
sunroof closes with increased or maximum force. The reversing feature is then not active. Parts of the body could be trapped in the closing area in the process. This poses an increased risk of
injury or even fatal injury.

WARNING
If you drive off while the EASY-ENTRY/EXIT
feature is making adjustments, you could lose
control of the vehicle. There is a risk of an
accident.
Always wait until the adjustment process is
complete before driving off.
The EASY-ENTRY/EXIT feature makes getting in

Canada only:
The daytime running lamps improve the visibility
of your vehicle during the day. The daytime run-
ning lamps function is required by law in Can-
ada. It cannot therefore be deactivated.
When the engine is running and the vehicle is
stationary: if you move the selector lever from a driving position to P, the daytime running
lamps/low-beam headlamps go out after three
minutes.
When the engine is running, the vehicle is sta-
tionary and in bright ambient light: if you turn the light switch to the 0060position, the daytime
running lamps and parking lamps switch on.

switch to 0058, the manual settings take prec-
edence over the daytime running lamps.

cally if the vehicle reaches a speed of above

cation.
i The hazard warning lamps still operate if the
ignition is switched off. Intelligent Light System
General notes The Intelligent Light System is a system that
adjusts the headlamps automatically to suit the
prevailing driving and weather conditions. It
offers advanced functions for improved illumi-
nation of the road surface, e.g. depending on the vehicle speed or weather conditions. The sys-
tem includes the active light function, corneringlight function, highway mode and extended
range fog lamps. The system is only active when it is dark.
You can activate or deactivate the "Intelligent
Light System" using the on-board computer
(Y page 218).
Active light function The active light function is a system that moves
the headlamps according to the steering move- ments of the front wheels. In this way, relevant
areas remain illuminated while driving. This
allows you to recognize pedestrians, cyclists
and animals sooner.
Active: when the lights are switched on.
Vehicles with Lane Keeping Assist: the active
light function evaluates the course of the lane in which you are driving and adjusts the light in
advance.
Vehicles with the drive program S+(Sport Plus):
when the drive program is activated, the active
light function headlamps swing in and out. This
shows that the light setting is in sport mode. The
dynamism of the active light function increases.
Cornering light function The cornering light function improves the illu-
mination of the road over a wide angle in the
direction you are turning, enabling better visi-
bility in tight bends, for example. It can only be
activated when the low-beam headlamps are
switched on.
Active:
