Ifyou leaveanimals inthevehicle unatten‐ded or unsecured,theycould possiblypressdown buttons or switches.
Thereby an animal may:
Ractivatevehicle equipment and becometrapped,forexample
Rswitchsystems on or off and endangerotherroad users
Unsecured animals may bethrown around inthevehicle intheevent of an accident orsuddensteering and braking maneuver andinjurevehicle occupants inthe process.
Never leaveanimals inthevehicle unat‐tended.
Always correctly secureanimals whiledriving,forexample using a suitableanimal carrier.

Ifthevehicle is not opened within approximately40 seconds after unlocking, it locksagain. Anti-theft protection is activated again.
Do notkeepthe SmartKeytogether with elec‐tronic devices or metal objects. This can affectthe SmartKey's functionality.
If batterycheck lamp2does not light upafter pressingthe6or7button,thebattery is discharged.
Replacingthe SmartKeybattery (→page64).

Changingthe unlocking settings
Possible unlocking functions ofthe SmartKey:

RUnlockingthe driver's door and fuelfillerflap
Toswitch between settings:pressthe6and7buttons simultaneouslyforapproximately six seconds untilthe batterycheck lampflashes twice.
Ifthe unlocking functionforthe driver's doorand fuelfillerflap has been selected:
RPressingthe6button a second time cen‐trally unlocksthevehicle
RVehicles with KEYLESS-GO:Ifyoutouchthe inner surface ofthe door handle onthedriver's door, onlythe driver's door and fuelfillerflap are unlocked.
Deactivatingthe SmartKeyfunctions
Ifyou do not usethevehicle or a SmartKey foranextended period of time,you canreducetheenergy consumption oftherespective Smart‐Key .Todo so, deactivatethe SmartKeyfunc‐tions.

The function isavailablefor aroundfiveminutesor until a door is opened.
Automaticreversing function ofthe side win‐dowsIf an object blocksa side windowduringtheclosing process,the side window opens againautomatically.The automaticreversing functionis only an aid and is not a substituteforyourattentiveness.
When closing, make surethat no body partsare inthe closing area.

Children in particular could accidentallypressthe electrical seat adjustment buttonsand become trapped.
While movingthe seats, make surethathands orother body parts do notgetunderthe lever assembly ofthe seatadjustment system.
\nWARNINGRisk of injuryduetoheadrestraints which are not installed or areadjusted incorrectly
If headrestraints are not installed or areadjusted incorrectly,the headrestraints can‐not provide protection as intended.
There is an increasedrisk of injury inthehead and neck area, e.g. intheevent of anaccident or when braking.
Always drive withthe headrestraintsinstalled.
Before driving off, make sureforeveryvehicle occupantthatthe center oftheheadrestraint supportsthe back ofthehead at abouteye level.
Do not interchangethe headrestraints ofthefront andrear seats. Otherwise,you will not beabletoadjustthe height and angle ofthe headrestraints correctly.
Adjustthe headrestraintfore-and-aft position sothat it is as close as possibletothe back ofyourhead.
\nWARNINGRisk of injuryor death duetoincorrect seat position
The seat belt does not offerthe intendedlevel of protection ifyou havenot movedtheseat backresttoan almostvertical position.
When braking or intheevent of an accident,you could slide underneaththe seat belt andsustain abdominal or neck injuries,forexam‐ple.
Adjustthe seat properlybefore begin‐ningyour journey.
Always ensurethatthe seat backrest isin an almostvertical position andthatthe shoulder section ofyour seat belt isrouted acrossthe center ofyour shoul‐der.

The seats may be damagedbyobjects whenmovingthe seats back.
When movingthe seats back,makesurethatthere are no objects inthefootwell, under or behindthe seats.

Whenthe easy entryandexitfeature adjuststhesteering wheel andthe driver's seat,youandothervehicle occupants – particularlychildren – could become trapped.

Ifthe easy entryandexitfeature is active,thesteering wheel will moveupwards andthe driv‐er's seat will moveback inthefollowing situa‐tions:

Ryou openthe driver's door whenthe ignitionis switched off
Thesteering wheel will moveupwards onlyifit is not already as high as it will go. The driv‐er's seat will movebackwards only if it is notalready intherearmost position.
Thesteering wheel andthe driver's seat willmovebacktothe last drive position inthefol‐lowing cases:
