the ignition is switched OFF.

xThe illumination time differs
depending on the operation.
xThe vehicle is equipped with a
battery saver. If an interior light is left
on with the ignition switched OFF,
the light is turned off automatically
after about 15 minutes to prevent
battery depletion.
xThe operation of the illuminated
entry system can be changed.

xThe illuminated entry system does
not operate in conjunction with the
overhead lights when the overhead
lights are turned on using the
overhead light ON/OFF switch.

Only use genuine Mazda accessories
or the equivalent requiring no greater
than 120 W (DC 12 V, 10 A).
The ignition must be switched to ACC
or ON.


CAUTION
¾To prevent accessory socket damage
or electrical failure, pay attention to
the following:
¾Do not use accessories that require
more than 120 W (DC 12 V, 10 A).
¾Do not use accessories that are not
genuine Mazda accessories or the
equivalent.
¾Close the cover when the
accessory socket is not in use to
prevent foreign objects and liquids
from getting into the accessory
socket.
¾Correctly insert the plug into the
accessory socket.
¾Do not insert the cigarette lighter
into the accessory socket.
¾Noise may occur on the audio
playback depending on the device
connected to the accessory socket.

Washer Fluid
▼Inspecting Washer Fluid Level
WARNING
Use only windscreen washer fluid or
plain water in the reservoir:
Using radiator antifreeze as washer
fluid is dangerous. If sprayed on the
windscreen, it will dirty the
windscreen, affect your visibility, and
could result in an accident.
Inspect fluid level in the washer fluid
reservoir; add fluid if necessary.

The top of the float should be between
F and E.

Use plain water if washer
fluid is
unavailable.
But use only washer fluid in cold
weather to prevent it from freezing.
NOTE
Front and rear washer
fluid is supplied
from the same reservoir.
Body Lubrication
▼Body Lubrication
All moving points of the body, such as
door and bonnet hinges and locks,
should be lubricated each time the
engine oil is changed. Use a
nonfreezing lubricant on locks during
cold weather.

Make sure the bonnet's secondary
latch keeps the bonnet from opening
when the primary latch is released.

¾Do not spray water in the engine
compartment. Otherwise, it could
result in engine-starting problems or
damage to electrical parts.
¾When washing and waxing the
vehicle, be careful not to apply
excessive force to any single area of
the vehicle roof. Otherwise, you
could dent the vehicle.
¾Make sure that the fuel-filler flap is
closed and lock the doors.
Otherwise, the fuel-filler flap may be
forcefully opened by water pressure
causing damage to the vehicle or
fuel-filler flap.
To help protect the
finish from rust and
deterioration, wash your Mazda
thoroughly and frequently, at least
once a month, with lukewarm or cold
water.

If the vehicle is washed improperly, the
paint surface could be scratched. Here
are some examples of how scratching
could occur.

Scratches occur on the paint surface
when:
xThe vehicle is washed without first
rinsing off dirt and other foreign
matter.
xThe vehicle is washed with a rough,
dry, or dirty cloth.
xThe vehicle is washed at a car wash
that uses brushes that are dirty or too
stiff.
xCleansers or wax containing
abrasives are used.
NOTE
xMazda is not responsible for
scratches caused by automatic car
washes or improper washing.
xScratches are more noticeable on
vehicles with darker paint finishes.
To minimize scratches on the vehicle's
paint finish:
xRinse off any dirt or other foreign
matter using lukewarm or cold water
before washing.
xUse plenty of lukewarm or cold
water and a soft cloth when washing
the vehicle. Do not use a nylon cloth.
xRub gently when washing or drying
the vehicle.
xTake your vehicle only to a car wash
that keeps its brushes well
maintained.
xDo not use abrasive cleansers or wax
that contain abrasives.
CAUTION
¾Do not use steel wool, abrasive
cleaners, or strong detergents
containing highly alkaline or caustic
agents on chrome-plated or
anodised aluminium parts. This may
damage the protective coating; also,
cleaners and detergents may
discolour or deteriorate the paint.
Pay special attention to removing salt,
dirt, mud, and other foreign material
from the underside of the wings, and
make sure the drain holes in the lower
edges of the doors and rocker panels
are clean.

Insects, tar, tree sap, bird droppings,
industrial fallout, and similar deposits
can damage the finish if not removed

If the ignition is switched OFF with the
exterior lights turned on and the
driver’s door is opened, a sound is
activated.
Operate the headlight switch to turn
off the exterior lights.
NOTE
xWhen the ignition is switched to

(STOP) Warning Beep” (page 7-67)
overrides the lights-on reminder.
xA personalised function is available
to change the sound volume for the
lights-on reminder.

▼Seat Belt Warning Beep
Front seat
If the vehicle speed exceeds about 20
km/h (12 mph) with the driver or front
passenger's seat belt unfastened, a
warning beep sounds continuously. If
the seat belt remains unfastened, the
beep sound stops once and then
continues for about 90 seconds. The
beep stops after the driver or front
passenger's seat belt is fastened.
NOTE
xPlacing heavy items on the front
passenger seat may cause the front
passenger seat belt warning function
to operate depending on the weight
of the item.
xTo allow the front passenger seat
weight sensor to function properly,
do not place and sit on an additional
seat cushion on the front passenger
seat. The sensor may not function
properly because the additional seat
cushion could cause sensor
interference.
xWhen a small child sits on the front
passenger seat, it is possible that the
warning beep will not operate.
Rear seat
The warning beep only sounds if a seat
belt is unfastened after being fastened.
▼Ignition Not Switched Off (STOP)
Warning Beep
European models
If the driver's door is opened with the
ignition switched to ACC, a beep will
be heard 6 times in the cabin to notify
the driver that the ignition has not
been switched OFF (STOP). Under this
condition, the keyless entry system will
not operate, the vehicle cannot be
locked, and the battery voltage will be
depleted.
Except European models
If the driver's door is opened with the
ignition switched to ACC, a beep will
be heard continuously in the cabin to
notify the driver that the ignition has
not been switched OFF (STOP). Under
this condition, the keyless entry system
will not operate, the vehicle cannot be
locked, and the battery voltage will be
depleted.

Vehicles with advanced keyless
function
If the key is taken out of the vehicle
while the ignition is switched to ACC
or ON, and all the doors are closed, a
sound is activated 6 times outside of
the vehicle and a sound is activated 1
time in the vehicle.
Vehicles without advanced keyless
function
If the key is taken out of the vehicle
while the ignition is switched to ACC
or ON, and all the doors are closed, a
sound is activated 1 time in the
vehicle.
NOTE
Make sure that you leave the vehicle
while carrying the key, or switch the
ignition OFF.
▼Touch Sensor Inoperable Warning
Beep (With the advanced keyless
function)
A warning beep is activated to notify
the driver that the doors are not locked
when all of the following conditions
are met:
xThe ignition is switched OFF.xAll the doors and liftgate are not fully
closed.
xThe lock is operated 3 times within 5
seconds.
Check the ignition and whether the
doors and liftgate are open or closed,
and then operate the lock again.
▼Liftgate Door-lock Switch
Inoperable Warning Beep
When the door-lock switch on the
liftgate is pressed under any of the
following conditions, a warning sound
is activated.
xA transmitter is not being carried.xThe ignition is switched to a position
other than OFF.
xAny door is open.xLiftgate is automatically operating.*
Make sure that none of the above
conditions are present, and then press
the door-lock switch again.
▼Key Left-in-luggage compartment
Warning Beep (With the advanced
keyless function)
If the key is left in the luggage
compartment with all the doors locked
and the liftgate closed, a beep will be
heard outside for about 10 seconds to
notify the driver that the key is in the
luggage compartment. In this case,
take out the key by pressing the electric
liftgate opener and opening the
liftgate. The key taken out of the
luggage compartment may not operate
because its functions have been
temporarily stopped. To restore the
key's functions, perform the applicable
procedure (page 3-8).
▼Key Left-in-vehicle Warning Beep
(With the advanced keyless
function)
If all the doors and luggage
compartment are locked using another
key while the key is left in the cabin,
the beep which sounds outside of the
vehicle will be heard for about 10
seconds to notify the driver that the
key is in the cabin. In this case, take
out the key by opening the door. A key
taken out of the vehicle using this
method may not operate because its
functions have been temporarily
stopped. To restore the key's functions,

area, and park the vehicle in a safe

recommend an Authorised Mazda
Repairer).

A warning beep is activated when the
accelerator pedal and brake pedal are
depressed at the same time while
