Programming
1. Make sure the parking brake is on.
2.(Automatic transmission)
Make sure the selector lever is in
the P position.
3. Switch the ignition ON.
4. Adjust the following parts to the
desired conditions.
xDriver's seatxActive driving displayxOutside mirrors
5. Press the SET button continuously
until a sound is activated.
1. 1 button
2. 2 button
3. SET button
6. Do the following operation within 5
seconds after the sound is activated
to programme the driving position.
xProgramming to a position
memory button
Press the button you want to
programme, either 1 or 2 button.
xProgramming to the transmitter
Press the unlock button on the
transmitter.
A sound is activated when the
operation is completed correctly.

NOTE
xIf you do not perform the operation
correctly, a sound indicating that the
programming has failed is activated.
xIf the angle of the outer mirrors only
changes a little, the angle of the
outer mirrors may not have been
programmed correctly.
xIf the angle of the outer mirrors is
adjusted close to the limits of its
range of motion, the driving position
can be successfully programmed, but
it may fail when calling up the
programmed driving position.
Calling up the programmed driving
position
CAUTION
Do not place fingers or hands around
the bottom of the seat while the seat
memory function is operating. The seat
moves automatically while the seat
memory function is operating and
fingers or hands could get pinched and
injured.
Using the position memory button
1. Make sure the parking brake is on.
2.(Automatic transmission)
Make sure the selector lever is in
the P position.
3. Switch the ignition ON.
4. Press the programming button for
the driving position you want to call
up (button 1 or 2).
5. A sound is activated when the
adjustment to the programmed
driving position is completed.
NOTE
xWhen adjustment of the driving
position is not necessary, a sound is
not activated.
xThe driving position adjustment is
cancelled in the following cases:
xThe seat adjustment switch on the
driver's seat is operated.
xThe angle of the outer mirrors is
adjusted.
xThe SET button is pressed.xProgramming button 1 or 2 is
pressed.
xThe lock button or unlock button
on the transmitter is pressed.
xThe vehicle starts moving.xThe active driving display is
adjusted.
x(Manual transmission)
The parking brake is released.
x(Automatic transmission)
The selector lever is shifted to a

Using the transmitter
1. Unlock the driver's door using one
of the following methods.
xTouch the sensing area of the
door release touch sensor.
xPress the unlock button on the
transmitter.
2. When you open the driver's door
within 90 seconds after unlocking
the doors, the adjustment of the
following parts starts.
xDriver's seatxActive driving display (When the
ignition is switched ON, the
adjusted active driving display is
activated.)
xOutside mirrors
A sound is activated when the
adjustment is completed.
NOTE
xWhen adjustment of the driving
position is not necessary, a sound is
not activated.

Erasing the driving positions
programmed to the key
1. Switch the ignition OFF.
2. Press the SET button continuously
until a sound is activated.
3. Press the lock button on the
transmitter within 5 seconds after
the sound is activated.
NOTE
If you do not perform the operation
correctly, a sound indicating that the
programming has failed is activated.
▼Adjusting the Front Passenger's
Seat
1.Seat Slide
To move a seat forward or
backward, raise the lever and slide
the seat to the desired position and
release the lever.
Make sure the lever returns to its
original position and the seat is
locked in place by attempting to
push it forward and backward.
2.Height Adjustment
*
To adjust the seat height, move the
lever up or down.
3.Seat Recline
To change the seatback angle, lean
forward slightly while raising the
lever. Then lean back to the desired
position and release the lever.
Make sure the lever returns to its
original position and the seatback is
locked in place by attempting to
push it forward and backward.

Operation using the transmitter
When the power liftgate button on the
transmitter is pressed and held for
about 1 second or longer with all of
the following conditions met, the
hazard warning lights flash 2 times, a
beep sound is activated, and the
liftgate automatically opens/closes
fully.
xThe ignition is switched OFF.xThe vehicle is stopped.
Refer to Transmitter on page 3-5.
NOTE
xWhen opening the liftgate by
pressing the power liftgate button on
the transmitter, the liftgate can be
opened even when it is locked.
xIf the power liftgate button on the
transmitter is pressed while the
liftgate is opening/closing
electrically, the beep is activated and
the liftgate stops. When pressing the
power liftgate button again, the
liftgate moves in the reverse
direction.
Operation using switch only for
power liftgate
Operation conditions
Opening the liftgate
If the vehicle has satisfied all the
following operation conditions, the
power liftgate can be opened using the
power function.
xAll doors and the liftgate are
unlocked.
xThe vehicle is stopped.x(Manual transmission)
The ignition is switched to a position
other than ON, or when the parking
brake is applied with the shift lever in
N and the ignition switched ON.
x(Automatic transmission)
The ignition is switched to a position
other than ON, or the selector lever
is in P with the ignition switched ON.
Closing the liftgate
xThe vehicle is stopped.x(Manual transmission)
The ignition is switched to a position
other than ON, or when the parking
brake is applied with the shift lever in
N and the ignition switched ON.
x(Automatic transmission)
The ignition is switched to a position
other than ON, or the selector lever
is in P with the ignition switched ON.
NOTE
If the shift lever/selector lever is shifted
to another position and the vehicle is
moved while the liftgate is opening/
closing automatically, the liftgate
operates as follows:
xWhen the liftgate is opening
A beep sound is activated, and the
liftgate moves in the reverse
direction automatically and closes.
xWhen the liftgate is closing
A beep sound is activated, but the
liftgate continues to close.
Operation from the driver's seat (To
open/close)
Press the power liftgate switch for
about 1 second or longer while the
liftgate is in the fully closed/open

xMake sure the trailer cargo is secure
to prevent it from shifting.
xMake sure the mirrors meet all
government regulations. Inspect
them.
xBefore starting out, inspect the
operation of all vehicle and trailer
lights and all vehicle-to-trailer
connections. Stop and re-inspect all
lights and connections after driving a
short distance.
Driving
xYour Mazda will handle differently
with a trailer in tow, so practice
turning , backing , and stopping in a
traffic-free area.
xTake time to get accustomed to the
extra weight and length.
xDo not exceed 100 km/h (62 mph)
with a trailer in tow. If the local legal
maximum speed with a trailer in tow
is less than 100 km/h (62 mph), do
not exceed the legal speed.
CAUTION
If the vehicle exceeds 100 km/h (62
mph) with a trailer in tow, the
vehicle could be damaged.
xWhen ascending a hill, shift into a
lower gear to reduce the possibility
of overloading or overheating the
engine, or both.
xWhen descending a hill, shift into a
lower gear and use engine
compression as a braking effect. Pay
constant attention to speed and use
the brakes only as needed. Holding
the brake pedal down for a
prolonged period may cause the
brakes to overheat and lose power.
Parking
Avoid parking on an incline with a
trailer. If this must be done, follow
these instructions.
Parking on an Incline
1. Set the parking brake and the
brakes.
2. Have someone block the wheels of
the vehicle and trailer while you
apply the brakes.
3. After the wheels are blocked,
release the parking brake and the
brakes slowly, allowing the blocks
to bear the load.
4. Set the parking brake firmly.
5. If the vehicle has an automatic
transmission, put the selector lever
in P position. If it has a manual
transmission, place the gear shift in
1 or R position.
Starting on an Incline
1. Start the engine (page 4-5).
2. Release the parking brake and
slowly pull away a short distance
from the wheel blocks.
3. Stop on the nearest level ground,
set the parking brake, and pick up
the wheel blocks.
