Feature of Leather in vehicle
Leather is made from the outerskin of an animal, which goes
through a special process to be
available for use. Since it is a nat-
ural substance, each part differs in
thickness or density.
Wrinkles may appear as a natural
result of stretching and shrinking
depending on the temperature and
humidity.
The seat is made of stretchable fabric to improve comfort.
The parts contacting the body are curved and the side supporting
area is high which provides driving
comfort and stability.
Wrinkles and changes of gloss /feel may appear naturally from
usage. It is not a fault of the prod-
uct. Make sure not to use sharp tools,
such as knives and spikes, to
remove the protective covering the
steering wheel.
Do not install auxiliary handles at steering wheel. Leather may leave
marks or cause permanent defor-
mation.

Wrinkles or abrasions which appear
naturally from usage are not cov-
ered by warranty.
CAUTION
Ring,belts with metallic acces-
sories, zippers or keys insideyour back pants pocket maydamage the seat fabric.
Make sure not to wet the seat. It may change the nature ofnatural leather.
Jeans or clothes which con- tain bleach may contaminatethe surface of the seat cover-ing fabric and cause damageor discoloration.
WARNING- Seat
adjustment
Do not adjust the seat while wearing seat belts. Moving the
seat forward will cause strong
pressure on the abdomen.
Do not place your hand near the seat bottom or seat track
while adjusting the seat. Your
hand could get caught in the
seat mechanism.
WARNING- Small
Objects
Use extreme caution when pick-
ing up small objects trapped
under the seats or between the
seat and the center console.
Your hands might be cut or
injured by the sharp edges of
the seats mechanism.

Electric power steering (EPS)
The power steering uses a motor to
assist you in steering the vehicle. If
the engine is off or if the power steer-
ing system becomes inoperative, the
vehicle may still be steered, but it will
require increased steering effort.
The EPS is controlled by a power
steering control unit which senses
the steering wheel torque and vehi-
cle speed to command the motor.
The steering becomes heavier as the
vehicle’s speed increases and
becomes lighter as the vehicle’s
speed decreases for optimum steer-
ing control.
Should you notice any change in the
effort required to steer during normal
vehicle operation, have the power
steering checked by an authorized
K900 Kia dealer. When you operate the steering
wheel in low temperature, noise
may occur. If temperature rises, the
noise will likely disappear. This is a
normal condition.
When the vehicle is stationary, and the steering wheel is turned all the
way to the left or right continuous-
ly, the steering wheel becomes
harder to turn. The power assist is
limited to protect the motor from
overheating.
As time passes, the steering wheel
will return to its normal condition.
✽ ✽ NOTICE
The following symptoms may occur
during normal vehicle operation:
• The EPS warning light does not
illuminate.
• The steering gets heavy immedi- ately after turning the ignition
switch on. This happens as the sys-
tem performs the EPS system
diagnostics. When the diagnostics
are completed, the steering wheel
will return to its normal condition.
• A click noise may be heard from the EPS relay after the Engine
Start/Stop button is turned to the
ON or OFF position.
• A motor noise may be heard when the vehicle is at a stop or at a low
driving speed.
• If the Electric Power Steering System does not operate normally,
the warning light will illuminate on
the instrument cluster. The power
steering system will not operate
and steering effort can increase.
Take your vehicle to an authorized
K900 Kia dealer and have the vehi-
cle checked as soon as possible. (Continued)

Instrument Cluster Control
Adjusting Instrument Cluster
Illumination
The brightness of the instrument
panel illumination is changed by
pressing the illumination control button
(“+” or “-”) when the Engine Start/Stop
button is ON, or the taillights are
turned on. If you hold the illumination control
button (“+” or “-”), the brightness
will be changed continuously.
If the brightness reaches to the maximum or minimum level, an
alarm will sound.
LCD Window Control
The LCD Window modes can be
changed by using the control buttons
on the steering wheel.
(1) : MODE button for changing modes
(2) / : MO VE scroll switch for
selecting the items
(3) OK : SET/RESET button for set- ting the items or resetting
the items

Engine Coolant
Temperature WarningLight
This warning light illuminates:
When the engine coolant tempera- ture is above 248°F (120°C). This
means that the engine is overheat-
ed and may be damaged.
If your vehicle is overheated, refer
to “Overheating” in chapter 6.
When your vehicle is overheated, the color of the engine coolant
temperature symbol will change
(white →red).
Forward Collision-avoid-
ance Assist Warninglight (FCA)
This indicator light illuminates:
When there is a malfunction with the FCA.
In this case, have the vehicle inspect-
ed by an authorized K900 Kia dealer.
All Wheel Drive (AWD) Warning Light
This indicator light illuminates:
When there is a malfunction with the AWD system.
In this case, have the vehicle inspect-
ed by an authorized K900 Kia dealer.
CAUTION - Engine
Overheating
Do not continue driving with the engine overheated. Otherwiseengine may be damaged.

To turn off the engine, re-press the
engine start/stop button to the ON
position, press the [P] button, and
press the engine start/stop button to
the OFF position.
When either the driver's door or the
front passenger's door is opened
with the engine start/stop button in
the ACC position and the shift lever
in N (Neutral) position, the engine is
automatically turned OFF and the
transmission automatically changes
to the P (Park) position.
D (Drive)
This is the normal driving position. The
transmission will automatically shift
through a 8-gear sequence, providing
the best fuel economy and power.
WARNING
To avoid inadvertent vehiclemovement, do not shift into
gear unless your foot is firmly
on the brake pedal.
D not permit your vehicle to idle in the N (Neutral) position
for an extended period of
time as this will preclude the
wheels and the transmission
from engaging. While parking
the vehicle with the engine
running, depress the brake
pedal, shift the vehicle to the
P (Park) position and apply
the parking brake.
Do not drive with the shift lever in N (Neutral). The
engine brake will not work
and may lead to an accident.

Depressing both accelerator andbrake pedals at the same time can
trigger logic for engine power
reduction to assure vehicle decel-
eration. Vehicle acceleration will
resume after the brake pedal is
released.
When driving in Sports Mode, slow down before shifting to a lower
gear. Otherwise, the lower gear
may not be engaged if the engine
rpms are outside of the allowable
range.
Always apply the parking brake when leaving the vehicle. Do not
depend on placing the transmis-
sion in P (Park) to keep the vehicle
from moving. Exercise extreme caution when
driving on a slippery surface. Be
especially careful when braking,
accelerating or shifting gears. On a
slippery surface, an abrupt change
in vehicle speed can cause the
drive wheels to lose traction and
may cause loss of vehicle control
resulting in an accident.
Optimum vehicle performance and economy is obtained by smoothly
depressing and releasing the
accelerator.
WARNING
To reduce the risk of SERIOUS
INJURY or DEATH:
ALWAYS wear your seatbelt.In a collision, an unbelted
occupant is significantly more
likely to be seriously injured
or killed than a properly belt-
ed occupant.
Avoid high speeds when cor- nering or turning.
Do not make quick steering wheel movements, such as
sharp lane changes or fast,
sharp turns.
The risk of rollover is greatly increased if you lose control
of your vehicle at highway
speeds.

Eco-Coasting operation condi-
tions
The Eco-Coasting system is activat-
ed when the accelerator pedal is
depressed and released under the
following conditions.
When the driving mode is ECO
mode.
When driver acceleration is SMART ECO in SMART mode.
When the shift lever is in the D (Drive) position.
When Cruise Control/Smart Cruise Control button is OFF.
The accelerator or brake pedal is not depressed.
When the vehicle speed is within the range of 55 km/h to 160 km/h.
If the road gradient is within the range of -5% to +5%.
In SMART mode, if the distance between the vehicle ahead and the
relative speed is within a certain
range (if the Smart Cruise system
is equipped) ❈
If the front radar for smart cruise
system cannot operate normally,
the inter-vehicle distance and rela-
tive speed condition are automati-
cally ignored.
❈ The Eco-Coasting system works
after the engine is turned on, the
transmission is warmed up, and
the engine sensor self-diagnosis is
completed after starting.
❈ Depending on the driving situation,
Eco-Coasting operation may be
temporarily delayed even if the
above conditions are met.
The Eco-Coasting system
release conditions
The Eco-Coasting system will be
automatically released when the fol-
lowing conditions are met.
When the drive mode is COM-
FORT or SPORT mode.
In SMART mode, when driver acceleration is SMART COMFORT
or SMART SPORT.
When using the paddle shift of the steering wheel.
When the Cruise Control/Smart Cruise Control button is on (The /CRUISE indicator is on.).
When pressing the accelerator pedal or brake pedal.
When the vehicle speed is outside the rage of 55 km/h to 160 km/h.
Road inclination is less than -5% or exceeds +5%.
In SMART mode, if the headway distance to the vehicle ahead is too
close of the relative speed
changes momentarily (if the smart
cruise control system is equipped)

If lane change is predicated inSMART mode (LKA warning by
turn signal lamp operation or steer-
ing wheel).
❈ It is recommended to turn off the
Eco-Coasting system in the driving
condition where frequent accelera-
tion or deceleration is repeated.
Change the drive mode to COM-
FORT or SPORT mode, or disable
Eco-Coasting mode on the AVN
screen.
