Safety system of your vehicle
The active bonnet lift system can
reduce a risk of injury to pedestrians
by raising the bonnet in certain acci-
dent situations. The active bonnet lift
system has the additional deforma-
tion space under the bonnet, which
is made available for subsequent
head impact.
The active bonnet lift system is acti-
vated in the following situations:
• The ignition switch is in the on posi- tion and the vehicle speed is approx-
imately between 25 km/h (15.5 mph)
and 50 km/h (31 mph).
• The active bonnet lift system is designed to work in a frontal colli-
sion depending on the intensity,
speed or angles of impact of the
front collision.
Information
• Do not arbitrarily repair the activebonnet lift system after its activa-
tion. We recommend you to have the
system repaired by a HYUNDAI
authorised repairer.
• If you change or repair the front bumper, we recommend that the
system be checked by a HYUNDAI
authorised repairer.
Possible activation situations
• The vehicle falls from a high loca-tion, such as falling into the gutter.
• The vehicle is involved in a certain high-speed frontal/angled collision,
striking other vehicles or barriers.
Information
An impact may be detected in a
frontal collision with animals, trash
cans or others, not with pedestrians.

Non-activation situations
• The vehicle is involved in a side/rearcollision or a rollover. The active
bonnet lift system activates only in a
frontal collision. • The vehicle is involved in an
angled frontal collision, striking the
pedestrian. • The pedestrian lies on the road.
• The front bumper is damaged or
modified.
• The pedestrian has an object to absorb shocks, such as a suit
case, a cart, or a stroller.

System malfunction
The warning message appears on the
LCD display, when there is a malfunc-
tion with the active bonnet lift system.
The warning message indicates that
the active bonnet lift system may not
properly operate to protect the pedes-
trians.
In this case, we recommend you to
immediately have the system checked
by a HYUNDAI authorised repairer. The below situations may cause a
malfunction with the active bonnet
lift system.
• Do not remove or change the
components and the wiring of
the active bonnet system.
• Do not change the front bumper or the body structure.
• Do not install or assemble any aftermarket accessory on the
front bumper or cover.
• When replacing tyres, make sure they are the same size as
your original tyres. If you drive
with different tyre or wheel
sizes, the active bonnet lift sys-
tem may not work normally.
