Steering
Concept
The
Integral
Active
Steering
increases
the
maj neuverability
and
makes
a
more
direct
steeringresponse

Active
Steering
is
a
combination
of
Acj
tive
Steering
and
rear
axle
steering.
The
variable
steering
ratio
amplifies
the
steering angle
when
maneuvering,
thus
making
the
steerj
ing
more
direct.
The
rear
axle
steering
acts
to
inj
crease
maneuverability
at
low
speeds
by
turning
the
rear
wheels
slightly
in
the
opposite
direction
to
the
front
wheels.
At
higher
speeds,
the
rear
wheels
are
turned
in
the
same
direction
as
the
front
wheels.
This
rej sults
in,
for
instance
better
directional
stabilityand
a
more
harmonious
change
of
direction.
In
critical
driving
situations,
the
Integral
Active Steering
can
stabilize
the
vehicle
through
purjposeful
steering
of
the
rear
wheels
before
thedriver
intervenes,
for
instance
in
case
of
overjsteering.

Using

system,

maintains

desired
speed
on
clear
roads.
For
this
purpose,
the
vehicle
accelerj
ates
or
brakes
automatically.
If
a
vehicle
is
driving
ahead
of
you,
the
system adjusts
the
speed
of
your
vehicle
so
that
the
set
distance
to
the
vehicle
ahead
is
maintained.
The speed
is
adjusted
as
far
as
the
given
situation
alj
lows.

radar
sensor
is
located
in
the
front
bumper
and
a
camera
on
the
interior
mirror
to
detect
vehicles driving
ahead
of
you.
Depending
on
the
vehicle
setting,
the
cruise
control
characteristic

change
