The seatbelt pretensioners and the frontairbag supplemental restraint system aredesigned to activate when the vehiclesustains frontal deceleration sufficient tocause the restraints control module to deploya safety device.
The fact that the seatbelt pretensioners orfront airbags did not activate for both frontseat occupants in a crash does not meanthat something is wrong with the system.Rather, it means the restraints control moduledetermined the accident conditions (crashseverity, belt usage) were not appropriate toactivate these safety devices.
•The design of the front airbags is toactivate only in frontal and near-frontalcrashes (not rollovers, side impacts orrear impacts) unless the crash causessufficient frontal deceleration.
•The seatbelt pretensioners and rearinflatable seatbelts are designed toactivate in frontal, near-frontal and sidecrashes and rollovers.
•The knee airbag(s) may deploy based oncrash severity and occupant conditions.
•The design of the side airbags is to inflatein certain side impact crashes. Sideairbags may activate in other types ofcrashes if the vehicle experiencessufficient sideways motion ordeformation.
•The design of the Safety Canopy is toinflate in certain side impact crashes orrollover events. The Safety Canopy mayactivate in other types of crashes if thevehicle experiences sufficient sidewaysmotion or deformation, or a certainlikelihood of rollover.

GENERAL INFORMATION
Condensation in the Exterior FrontLamps and Rear Lamps
Exterior front lamps and rear lamps havevents to accommodate normal changes inair pressure.
Condensation can be a natural by-productof this design. When moist air enters thelamp assembly through the vents, there is apossibility that condensation can occur whenthe temperature is cold. When normalcondensation occurs, a fine mist can form onthe interior of the lens. The fine misteventually clears and exits through the ventsduring normal operation.
Clearing time may take as long as 48 hoursunder dry weather conditions.
Examples of acceptable condensation are:
•The presence of a fine mist (no streaks, drip marks or large droplets).
•A fine mist covers less than 50% of thelens.
Examples of unacceptable condensation are:
•A water puddle inside the lamp.
•Streaks, drip marks or large dropletspresent on the interior of the lens.
If you see any unacceptable condensation, have your vehicle checked by an authorizeddealer.

Maintaining Your Head Up Display
•Do not place objects onto the transparentcover, as they may block you from seeingportions of the image. These objectscould also damage the cover and affectthe quality of the projected image.
•The system uses a special windshielddesigned to provide the optimum imagequality. You must replace the windshieldin a vehicle with this system with acertified original equipmentmanufactured (OEM) head up displaywindshield. Replacing this system'swindshield with a non-head up displaywindshield causes a double image ordistorted image. Have an authorizeddealer or authorized repair facility replacethe windshield.
•Light conditions such as oncomingheadlamps, sunrise, sunset or reflectionsoff of wet road surfaces can affect thedriver's ability to see the HUD image.
•Clean the windshield often for optimalHUD performance. See Cleaning theWindows and Wiper Blades (page 337).

Recirculated Air
Press to switch between outside air andrecirculated air. The air currently in thepassenger compartment recirculates. Thismay reduce the time needed to cool theinterior, when used with A/C, and reduceunwanted odors from entering your vehicle.
Note:Recirculated air may turn off, orprevent you from switching on, in all air flowmodes except MAX A/C to reduce the riskof fogging. Recirculation may also turn onand off in Panel or Panel/Floor air flowmodes during hot weather in order toimprove cooling efficiency.

Your vehicle is designed to operate onregular unleaded gasoline with a minimumpump (R+M)/2 octane rating of 87.
Some fuel stations, particularly those in highaltitude areas, offer fuels posted as regularunleaded gasoline with an octane ratingbelow 87. The use of these fuels could resultin engine damage that will not be coveredby the vehicle warranty.
For best overall vehicle and engineperformance, premium fuel with an octanerating of 91 or higher is recommended. Theperformance gained by using premium fuelis most noticeable in hot weather as well asother conditions, for example when towinga trailer. See Towing (page 271).
Do not be concerned if the enginesometimes knocks lightly. However, if theengine knocks heavily while using fuel withthe recommended octane rating, contact anauthorized dealer to prevent any enginedamage.
We recommend Top Tier detergentgasolines, where available to help minimizeengine deposits and maintain optimal vehicleand engine performance. For additionalinformation, refer to www.toptiergas.com.
Note:Use of any fuel for which the vehiclewas not designed can impair the emissioncontrol system, cause loss of vehicleperformance, and cause damage to theengine which may not be covered by thevehicle Warranty.
Do not use:
•Diesel fuel.
•Fuels containing kerosene or paraffin.
•Fuel containing more than 15% ethanolor E85 fuel.
•Fuels containing methanol.
•Fuels containing metallic-based additives,including manganese-based compounds.
•Fuels containing the octane boosteradditive, methylcyclopentadienylmanganese tricarbonyl (MMT).
•Leaded fuel, using leaded fuel isprohibited by law.
The use of fuels with metallic compoundssuch as methylcyclopentadienyl manganesetricarbonyl (commonly known as MMT), whichis a manganese-based fuel additive, willimpair engine performance and affect theemission control system.
FUEL FILLER FUNNEL LOCATION
The fuel filler funnel is under the luggagecompartment floor covering.
RUNNING OUT OF FUEL
Running out of fuel can cause damage notcovered by the vehicle Warranty.
If your vehicle runs out of fuel:
•Add a minimum of 1.3 gal (5 L) of fuel torestart the engine.
•You may need to switch the ignition fromoff to on several times after refueling toallow the fuel system to pump the fuelfrom the tank to the engine. Whenrestarting, cranking time takes a fewseconds longer than normal.
