Other items may be thrown out of the holder in the event of an accident or sud-den braking, causing injury. If possible,
cover hot drinks to prevent burns.
NOTICE
■To prevent damage to the cup holder and air conditioning control switches
●Do not apply excessive force to the cup holder.
●Take care when placing a tall bottle in the cup holder. When the bottle is
taken out or the brakes are suddenly applied, the bottle may hit the air con-ditioning control switches, causing
damage to the switches or parts of the air conditioning system.

●A fluid leak under the vehicle (However, water dripping from the air conditioning
system after use is normal.)
●Change in exhaust sound (This may indi-
cate a dangerous carbon monoxide leak. Drive with the windows open and have the exhaust system checked immedi-
ately.)
●Flat-looking tires, excessive tire squeal
when cornering, uneven tire wear
●Vehicle pulls to one side when driven
straight on a level road
●Strange noises related to suspension
movement
●Loss of brake effectiveness, spongy feel-
ing brake pedal, pedal almost touches the floor, vehicle pulls to one side when brak-ing

If you notice any of these clues, take your vehicle to any authorized Lexus retailer or
Lexus authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer as soon as possible. Your vehicle
may need adjustment or repair.

The engine compartment contains many mechanisms and fluids that may move suddenly, become hot, or become elec-
trically energized. To avoid death or seri- ous injury, observe the following precautions.
■When working on the engine com-
partment
●LC500h: Make sure that the “IGNI-
TION ON” on the multi-information display and the “READY” indicator are both off.
●Keep hands, clothing and tools away
from the moving fan and engine drive belt.
●LC500: Be careful not to touch the engine, radiator, exhaust manifold, etc.
right after driving as they may be hot. Oil and other fluids may also be hot.LC500h: Be careful not to touch the
engine, power control unit, radiator, exhaust manifold, etc. right after driv-ing as they may be hot. Oil and other
fluids may also be hot.
●Do not leave anything that may burn easily, such as paper and rags, in the engine compartment.
●Do not smoke, cause sparks or expose
an open flame to fuel. Fuel fumes are flammable.
●Take care because brake fluid can harm your hands or eyes and damage
painted surfaces. If fluid gets on your hands or in your eyes, flush the affected area with clean water imme-
diately. If you still experience discomfort, con-sult a doctor.
■When working near the electric cool-ing fan or radiator grille
Be sure the engine switch is off.
With the engine switch in IGNITION ON mode , the electric cooling fan may automatically
start to run if the air conditioning is on and/or the coolant temperature is high. ( P.323)
■Safety glasses
Wear safety glasses to prevent flying or falling material, fluid spray, etc. from get-
ting in your eyes.
NOTICE
■If you remove the air cleaner filter
Driving with the air cleaner filter
removed may cause excessive engine wear due to dirt in the air.
■If the fluid level is low or high
It is normal for the brake fluid level to go down slightly as the brake pads wear or when the fluid level in the accumulator is
high. If the reservoir needs frequent refilling, it may indicate a serious problem.

from the filter case and replace it
with a new one.
The “ UP” marks shown on the filter and
the filter case should be pointing up.
■Checking interval
Inspect and replace the air conditioning fil- ter according to the maintenance schedule. In dusty areas or areas with heavy traffic
flow, early replacement may be required. (For scheduled maintenance information, please refer to the “Lexus Service Booklet”
or “Lexus Warranty Booklet”.)
■If air flow from the vents decreases dra- matically
The filter may be clogged. Check the filter and replace if necessary.
■Air conditioning filter with deodorizing function
When fragrances are placed in your vehi- cle, the deodorizing effect may become
significantly weakened in a short period.
When an air conditioning odor comes out continuously, replace the air conditioning filter.
NOTICE
■When using the air conditioning sys-tem
Make sure that a filter is always installed. Using the air conditioning system without
a filter may cause damage to the system.
■To prevent damage to the filter cover
When moving the filter cover in the
direction of arrow to release the fitting, pay attention not to apply excessive force to the claws. Otherwise, the claws may
be damaged.

have the vehicle inspected at any authorized Lexus retailer or Lexus authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer.
■If “Aux Battery Low See Owner’s Manual” is shown frequently (LC500h)
The 12-volt battery may deteriorate. As it may cause the 12-volt battery discharge, have the 12-volt battery inspected by any authorized Lexus retailer or Lexus authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer.
