ernmental safety and vehicle regula-

problems resulting from any modifi-
cation may not be covered under

operate abnormally, wire damage,
battery discharge and fire. For your
safety, do not use unauthorised
electronic devices. By following a few simple precau-
tions for the first 600 miles (1,000
km) you may add to the perform-
ance, economy and life of your vehi-
cle.
• Do not race the engine.
• Whilst driving, keep your engine
speed (rpm, or revolutions per
minute) between 2,000 rpm and
4,000 rpm.
• Do not maintain a single speed for long periods of time, either fast or
slow. Varying engine speed is
needed to properly break-in the
engine.
• Avoid hard stops, except in emer- gencies, to allow the brakes to seat
properly.
• Don't tow a trailer during the first 1,200 miles (2,000 km) of opera-
tion. HYUNDAI promotes an environmen-
tally sound treatment for end of life
vehicles and offers to take back your
HYUNDAI end of life vehicles in
accordance with the European Union
(EU) End of Life Vehicles Directive.

Convenient features of your vehicle
If the brake fluid level in the reser-
voir is low:
1. Drive carefully to the nearest safelocation and stop your vehicle.
2. With the engine stopped, check the brake fluid level immediately and
add fluid as required (For more
details, refer to “Brake Fluid” in
chapter 7). After adding brake
fluid, check all brake components
for fluid leaks. If a brake fluid leak is
found, or if the warning light
remains on, or if the brakes do not
operate properly, do not drive the
vehicle. We recommend that you
have the vehicle inspected by a
HYUNDAI authorised repairer.
Dual-diagonal braking system
Your vehicle is equipped with dual-
diagonal braking systems. This
means you still have braking on two
wheels even if one of the dual sys-
tems should fail.
With only one of the dual systems
working, more than normal pedal
travel and greater pedal pressure are
required to stop the vehicle. Also, the vehicle will not stop in as
short a distance with only a portion
of the brake system working.
If the brakes fail whilst you are driv-
ing, shift to a lower gear for addition-
al engine braking and stop the vehi-
cle as soon as it is safe to do so.
Anti-lock Brake System
(ABS) Warning Light
This warning light illuminates:
• When you set the ignition switch or
the Engine Start/Stop button to the
ON position.
- It illuminates for approximately 3seconds and then goes off.
• When there is a malfunction with the ABS (The normal braking sys-
tem will still be operational without
the assistance of the anti-lock
brake system).
In this case, we recommend that
you have the vehicle inspected by
a HYUNDAI authorised repairer.
Parking Brake & Brake Fluid
Warning Light
Driving the vehicle with a warn-
ing light ON is dangerous. If the
Parking Brake & Brake Fluid
Warning Light illuminates with
the parking brake released, it
indicates that the brake fluid
level is low.
In this case, we recommend
that you have the vehicle
inspected by a HYUNDAI autho-
rised repairer.

Master Warning Light
This indicator light illuminates:
• When there is a malfunction in thebelow systems.
- Low washer fluid (if equipped)
- Exterior lamp malfunction(if equipped)
- Blind-Spot Collision Warning (BCW) malfunction (if equipped)
- Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS, if equipped)
To identify the details of the warn-
ing, look at the LCD display.
Low Tyre Pressure Warning Light (if equipped)
This warning light illuminates:
• When you set the ignition switch or
Engine Start/Stop button to the ON
position.
- It illuminates for approximately 3seconds and then goes off.
• When one or more of your tyres are significantly underinflated (The
location of the underinflated tyres
are displayed on the LCD display).
For more details, refer to
“Tyre Pressure Monitoring
System (TPMS)” in chapter 6.
This warning light remains on after
blinking for approximately 60 sec-
onds or repeatedly blinks on and
off at approximately 3 second inter-
vals:
• When there is a malfunction with the TPMS.
In this case, we recommend that
you have the vehicle inspected by
a HYUNDAI authorised repairer as
soon as possible.
For more details, refer to
“Tyre Pressure Monitoring
System (TPMS)” in chapter 6.
Safe Stopping
•The TPMS cannot alert you to
severe and sudden tyre dam-
age caused by external factors.
•If you notice any vehicle insta-
bility, immediately take your
foot off the accelerator pedal,
apply the brakes gradually with
light force, and slowly move to
a safe position off the road.

Non-operational conditions ofParking Distance Warning(Reverse) system
The Parking Distance Warning
(Reverse) system may not operate
normally when:
• Moisture is frozen to the sensor.
• Sensor is covered with foreign mat-
ter, such as snow or water, or the
sensor cover is blocked.
There is a possibility of the Parking
Distance Warning (Reverse) system
malfunction when:
• Driving on uneven road surfacessuch as unpaved roads, gravel,
bumps, or gradient.
• Objects generating excessive noise such as vehicle horns, loud
motorcycle engines, or truck air
brakes can interfere with the sen-
sor.
• Heavy rain or water spray is pres- ent.
• Wireless transmitters or mobile phones are present near the sen-
sor.
• The sensor is covered with snow.
• Any non-factory equipment or accessories have been installed,
or if the vehicle bumper height or
sensor installation has been modi-
fied.
Detecting range may decrease when:
• Outside air temperature isextremely hot or cold.
• Undetectable objects smaller than 1 m (40 inches) and narrower than
14 cm (6 inches) in diameter.

Parking Distance Warning(Reverse/Forward) system precautions
• The Parking Distance Warning
(Reverse/Forward) system may not
sound consistently depending on the
speed and shapes of the objects
detected.
• The Parking Distance Warning (Reverse/Forward) system may mal-
function if the vehicle bumper height
or sensor installation has been mod-
ified or damaged. Any non-factory
installed equipment or accessories
may also interfere with the sensor
performance.
• The sensor may not recognise objects less than 30 cm (11 in.) from
the sensor, or it may sense an incor-
rect distance. Use caution.
• When the sensor is frozen or stained with snow, dirt, or water, the sensor
may be inoperative until the stains
are removed using a soft cloth.
• Do not push, scratch or strike the sensor. Sensor damage could occur.
• Do not spray the sensors or its sur- rounding area directly with a high
pressure washer. Shock applied
from high pressure water may cause
the device to not operate normally.

To prevent unnecessary wear or
damage to the clutch:
• Do not rest your foot on theclutch pedal whilst driving.
• Do not hold the vehicle with the clutch on an incline, whilst wait-
ing for the traffic light, etc.
• Always depress the clutch pedal down fully to prevent noise or
damage.
• Do not start with the 2nd (sec- ond) gear engaged except when
you start on a slippery road.
• Do not drive with cargo loaded more than required loading
capacity.
• Make sure to depress the clutch pedal until the engine starts
completely. If you release the
clutch pedal before the engine
starts completely, the engine
may stop.
Downshifting
Downshift when you must slow down
in heavy traffic or drive up a steep
hill, to prevent engine load.
Also, downshifting reduces the
chance of stalling and helps to accel-
erate when you need to increase
your speed again.
When the vehicle is going downhill,
downshifting helps maintain safe
speed by providing brake power from
the engine and results in less wear
on the brakes. To prevent damage to the engine,
clutch and transmission:
• When downshifting from 5th
gear to 4th gear, be careful not to
inadvertently push the shift lever
sideways engaging the 2nd gear.
A drastic downshift may cause
the engine speed to increase to
the point the tachometer will
enter the red-zone.
• Do not downshift more than two gears at a time or downshift the
gear when the engine is running
at high speed (5,000 RPM or
higher). Such a downshifting
may damage the engine, clutch
and the transmission.

switch, if starting engine in

Good driving practices
• Never take the vehicle out of gearand coast down a hill. This is
extremely dangerous.
• Don't "ride" the brakes. This can cause the brakes and related parts
to overheat and malfunction.
When you are driving down a long
hill, slow down and shift to a lower
gear. Engine braking will help slow
down the vehicle.
• Slow down before shifting to a lower gear. This will help avoid
over-revving the engine, which can
cause damage.
• Slow down when you encounter cross winds. This gives you much
better control of your vehicle.
• Be sure the vehicle is completely stopped before you shift into R
(Reverse) to prevent damage to
the transmission.
• Exercise extreme caution when driving on a slippery surface. Be
especially careful when braking,
accelerating or shifting gears. On a slippery surface, an abrupt
change in vehicle speed can cause
the drive wheels to lose traction
and may cause loss of vehicle con-
trol resulting in an accident.
Do not use aggressive engine
braking (shifting from a higher
gear to a lower gear) on slip-
pery roads. This could cause
the tyres to slip and may result
in an accident.
WARNING
To reduce the risk of SERIOUS
INJURY or DEATH:
•ALWAYS wear your seat belt.
In a collision, an unbelted
occupant is significantly more
likely to be seriously injured
or killed than a properly belt-
ed occupant.
•Avoid high speeds when cor-
nering or turning.
WARNING
•Do not make quick steering
wheel movements, such as
sharp lane changes or fast,
sharp turns.
•The risk of rollover is greatly
increased if you lose control
of your vehicle at highway
speeds.
•Loss of control often occurs if
two or more wheels drop off
the roadway and the driver
over steers to reenter the
roadway.
•In the event your vehicle
leaves the roadway, do not
steer sharply. Instead, slow
down before pulling back into
the travel lanes.
•HYUNDAI recommends you
follow all posted speed limits.
