'xIf the vehicle has not moved again for at least2 hours after a trip.1.Determine, refer to page 240, the intended
tire inflation pressure levels for the mounted
tires.2.Check the tire inflation pressure in all four
tires, using a pressure gage, for example.3.Correct the tire inflation pressure if the curj
rent tire inflation pressure value deviates from the specified value.4.Check whether all valve caps are screwed
onto the tire valves.

Maximum tire load is the maximum permissible
weight for which the tire is approved.
Locate the maximum tire load on the tire sidewalland the Gross Axle Weight Rating m GAWR m onthe certification label on the driverss door pillar.
Divide the tire load by 1.1. It must be greater
than one-half of the vehicless Gross Axle Weight Rating m GAWR. Note, front vs. rear GAWR and
tire loads, respectively.

TractionThe traction grades, from highest to lowest, are
AA, A, B, and C.
Those grades represent the tire's ability to stop
on wet pavement as measured under controlled
conditions on specified government test surfaj
ces of asphalt and concrete. A tire marked C may have poor traction performance.
The traction grade assigned to this tire is based on straight-ahead braking traction tests, and
does not include acceleration, cornering, hydroj planing, or peak traction characteristics.
Temperature
The temperature grades are A, the highest, B,
and C, representing the tire's resistance to the
generation of heat and its ability to dissipate heat
when tested under controlled conditions on a specified indoor laboratory test wheel. Sustained
high temperature can cause the material of the
tire to degenerate and reduce tire life, and excesj
sive temperature can lead to sudden tire failure.
The grade C corresponds to a level of performj
ance which all passenger vehicle tires must meet
under the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard
No. 109. Grades Band A represent higher levels of performance on the laboratory test wheel thanthe minimum required by law.
WARNING
The temperature grade for this tire is estabj lished for a tire that is properly inflated and not overloaded. Excessive speed, underinflation, or
excessive loading, either separately or in comj bination, can cause heat buildup and possibletire failure.

Run-flat tires, refer to page 251, are labeled with
a circular symbol containing the letters RSC marked on the sidewall.
M+S
Winter and all-season tires with better cold weather performance than summer tires.
Tire
tread
Summer
tiresDo not drive with a tire tread of less than
0.12 in/3 mm, otherwise there is an increased
risk of hydroplaning.
Winter
tires Do not drive with a tire tread of less than
0.16 in/4 mm, as such tires are less suitable for winter operation.
Minimum

Wear indicators are distributed around the tire's
circumference and have the legally required minj imum height of 0.063 inches/1.6 mm.
