recognize the key. The conve nience key may not
be recognized, for examp le, if it is covered by an

the sign al.

Starting the engine when there is a
malfunction
It may not be possible to start the engine under
certain circumstances, for example if the battery
in the vehicle key i s drained, if in terferen ce is af­
fe cted the key or if there i s a system malfunc­
tion.

Drivin g
- If the power sup ply fai ls, you cannot set the
parking brake if it is release d. In this case,
park the vehicle on level ground an d secure
it by placing the selector lever in the P posi­
t ion . See an authorized Aud i d ealer or au­
thorized Aud i Serv ice Facility for ass istance.
- If you leave the veh icle, switch the ignit ion
off and take the vehicle key w ith you . This
applies particularly when children remain in
the vehicle. Othe rwise children could sta rt
the engine, re lease the par king brake o r op­
erate electrical equipment such as power
windows, which increases the risk of an acci­
dent.
- No one shou ld remain in the vehicle when it
is locked - especially chi ldren . Locked doors
make it more diff icu lt for emergency work­
ers to get into the vehicle, which puts lives
at risk.

When stopping at a traffic signal or stopping in city traffic, you can set the parking brake
manually. The vehicle does not have to be
he ld w ith the brake pedal. The parking brake
elim inates the tendency to creep when a se­
lector lever pos ition is engaged. As soon as
you press the accelerator pedal, the park ing
brake releases automat ica lly and your vehicle
s tarts to move

- Occasiona l noises when the par king b rake is
set and re leased a re normal and a re not a
cause for con cern.

available when the vehicle begins driving, de­ pending on vehicle equipment.
Starting on hills with th e parking brake set
Requireme nt: the d rive r's doo r mus t be closed.

the parking b rake and beg in driving as usual.
The b raking force of the pa rking brake does not
release automat ic a lly until t he whee ls build up
enoug h driving force .
Starting on hills with hill hold assist
Hill hold assist makes it easier to start on hills .
Requirement: the driver 's door must be closed
and t he engine must be running.
"' To activate hi ll hold assist, press and hold the
brake pedal for severa l seconds. The vehicle
must be in an uphill direct ion of travel.
After re leasing the brake pedal, the braking pow ­
er is maintained for a brief
moment~ A to pre ·
vent the vehicle from ro lling back when starting.
D ur ing this time, you can easily begin to move
your vehicle.
A WARNING
Applies to: vehicles with hill hold assist
-If you do not beg in dr iving immed iate ly or
t he engine stalls after releasing the bra ke
pedal, your veh icle may beg in to roll back ­
ward . Press the bra ke peda l or set the park­
ing brake immediately.
- The inte lligent technology of hill ho ld assist
cannot ove rcome the limitat ions imposed by
natural phys ica l laws. The increased com fort
offered by hill hold assist should not cause
you to take safety risks .
- Hill hold ass ist cannot hold the vehicle in
place on all hills (for examp le, if the ground
is s lippery or icy).
- To reduce the r is k of an accident, always
make sure the veh icle is situated safely
while stationary .

Inte rlock button
The in terlock button in the selector lever handle
prevents you from moving the selector lever in ­
advertently while in some selector lever posi­
tions. The positions that require the interlock
button to be pressed are marked in color in the il­
lustration

-If the se lector lever does not engage, there
i s a malfunction. The engine is d isabled to
prevent the vehicle from driving off unin­
tentiona lly . To allow the selector lever to
engage aga in , proceed as follows:
-Briefly press the brake pedal.
-If the vehicle does not move forward or in
reverse even thoug h a drive position is se­
lected, proceed as follows:
-> If the veh icle does not move in the desired
direction, the system may not have engaged
the drive pos it ion correctly. Press the brake
pedal and select the drive position again.
->If the veh icle st ill does not move in the de­
s ired direction, there is a system malfunc­
tion. See an authorized Audi dea ler or au­
thorized Audi Service Facility for assistance
to have the system checked .
Driving tips
The transmission shifts up and down automati­
cally when in the driving gears.

Kick-down
Kick-down enables maximum acc ele ration .
When you press the accele rato r peda l dow n be­
yond the resistance po int, the automatic trans ­
miss io n downshifts into a lower gea r and the
en ­
gine utilizes its f ull power, depending on veh icle
speed and engine RPM . It shifts up into the next
h igher gear once the maximum spec ified engine
RPM is reached.
A WARNING
Please note that the wheels could spin on
slick or slippery roads when kick -down is
ac­
t ive .
Launch Control Program

The Launch Control Program enables maximum
acceleration .
Requirement: the eng ine must be at operating
temperature and the steer ing whee l must not be
turned.

There is a system mal funct ion in the transm is­
sion. The transmission is switching to emergency
mode. This mode only shifts into certain gears or
will no longer shift at all. The engine may stall.
You cannot engage the reverse gear . Drive to an
author ized Audi dealer or authorized Audi Service
Facility immediately to have the malfunction cor ­
rected .
DI Transm ission : malfunction! You may contin­
ue driving in D until engine off
Drive the vehicle away from moving traffic and
park. See an authorized Audi dealer or authorized
Aud i Service Facility for assistance.
DI Transmission: too hot. Please adapt driving
style
The transmission temperature has increased s ig­
nificantly. Drive ve ry cautiously or take a break
from driving until the temperature returns to the
norma l range and the indicator light turns off.
DI Transmission : Please press brake pedal and
select gear again
I f the transmission ma lfunctions because the
temperature is too high, a message appears
when the transmission is cooled .
Driving
Selector lever emergency release
If the vehicle 's power supply fails, the selector
lever can be released in an emergency .

- The relevant lane marker lines are not detected (for example, mark ings in a construction zone

of approximately 40 mph (65 km/h) (the speed
may vary depending on yo ur country).
- The lane is too narrow or too wide.
- The curve is too narrow .
- The driver's hands are not on the steering

Audi drive select (drive
settings)
Introduction
A pp lies to: ve hicles w ith Aud i d rive select
Drive select makes it possible to expe rience d if­
fe rent types of vehicle settings in one vehicle.
The driver can select from three modes, Comfort,
Auto and Dynamic , using the
i:l:ta button in the
center console or by using the Infotainment sys­
tem . T his allows you to switch between a sporty
and a comfortab le driving mode, for examp le. In
the Indi vidual mode, the settings can be adjust­
ed to your personal preferences. This makes it
possible to combine sett ings such as a sporty en­
g ine setting w ith light steering.

Description

The veh icle setup in each mode depends on the
vehicle's features.
Engine and automatic transmission
Depending on the mode, the engine and auto­
matic transmission respond more quickly or in a
more balanced manner to accelerator pedal
movements.
Suspension control (Audi magnetic ride)*
The suspension control uses sensors to record in­
format ion regarding steering movements, brak­
i ng and acceleration operations by the driver, as
well as information about the road surface, driv­
i ng speed, and load. W ith dr ive se lect, you can
adjust the suspension control to sporty (dynam­
ic ), comfortable (comfort) or balanced (auto).
Steering
The power steering adapts . Indirect steering that
moves eas ily as in comfort mode is espec ially
su ited to long drives on a highway . The dynamic
mode provides sporty, direct steering.
Engine sound*
The engine sound adapts to the current mode
and can be subtle to sporty .

In some models, the maximum vehicle speed
can only be reached in the auto and dynamic
modes .

- If the position and the installation angle of
the rearv iew camera was changed, for ex­
ample after a collision, do not continue to
use the system for safety reasons. Have it
checked by an authorized Audi dealer or au­

Parking systems
-Only use the rearview camera to assist you if
it shows a good, clear picture. For example,
the image may be affected by the sun shin­
ing into the lens, dirt on the lens, or if there
is a malfunction.
- Use the rearview camera only if the luggage
compartment lid is completely closed. Make
sure any objects you may have mounted on
the luggage compartment lid do not block
the rearview camera.
- The camera lens enlarges and distorts the
field of vision. The object appears both al­
tered and inaccurate on the screen.
- In certain situations, people or objects in
the display appear closer or farther away:
- For objects that do not touch the ground,
such as the bumper of a parked vehicle, a
trailer hitch or the rear of a truck. Do not use the orientation lines in this case.
- If driven from a level surface onto an in­ cline, or a downward slope .
- If driven toward protruding objects.
- If the vehicle is carrying too much load in
the rear.

- The orange-colored orientation lines in the
Infotainment display show the vehicle path
based on the steering wheel angle. The
front of the vehicle swings out more than
the rear of the vehicle. Maintain plenty of
distance so that an exterior mirror or a cor­
ner of the vehicle does not collide with any
obstacles.
