Move the windshield wiper lever to the corre­
sponding position:
@ -Windshield wipers off
(D-Rain sensor mode. The windshield wipers
switch on once the vehicle speed exceeds approx­
imately 2 mph (4 km/h) and it is raining. The
higher the sensitivity of the rain sensor that is set (switch ® to the right), the earlier the wind­
shield wipers react to moisture on the wind­
shield. You can deactivate the rain sensor mode
in the Infotainment system , which switches the
intermittent mode on. To do this, select:

button > Vehicle > left control button > Driver
assistance
> Rain sensor . In intermittent mode,
you can adjust the interval time using the switch
®·
@ -Slow wiping
®-Fast wiping
©-Single wipe. If you hold the lever in this posi­
tion longer, the wipers switch from slow wiping
to fast wiping .

®-Clean the w indshield. The wipers wipe one
time after several seconds of driving to remove
water droplets. You can switch this function off
by moving the lever to position ® within 10 sec­
onds of the afterwipe . The afterwipe function is
reactivated the next time you switch the ignition
on .
Clean the headlights*. The headlight washer sys­
tem* operates only when the low beam head­ lights are on . If you move the lever to position
@, the headlights and the night v is ion assist
camera* are cleaned at intervals.
®-Wipe the rear window. The number of wipes
depends on the windshield wiper movement .
The rear wiper automatically switches on when
the reverse gear is selected and the front wind­
shield wipers are on and running.
(f) -Clean the rear window . The number of wipes
depends on how long the lever is held in position
(f) .
A WARNING
-The rain sensor is only intended to assist the
driver . The driver may still be responsible
for manually switching the wipers on based on visibility conditions.
- The windsh ield may not be treated with wa­
ter-repelling windshield coating agents. Un­
favorable conditions, such as wetness, dark­
ness or low sun, can result in increased
glare, which increases the risk of an acci­
dent. Wiper blade chatter is also possible.
- Properly functioning windshield wiper
blades are required for a clear view and safe
driving

-If there is frost, make sure the windshield
wiper blades are not frozen to the wind­
shield. Switching on the windshield wipers
when the blades are frozen to the wind­
shield can damage the wiper blades.
- The windshield wiper system must be
switched off (lever in position 0) before us­
ing a car wash. This prevents the w ipers

::r ' from switching on unintentionally and caus­
ing damage to the windshie ld wiper system .
(D Tips
-The windshield wipers switch off when the
ignition is switched off . You can activate the
windshield wipers after the ignition is switched back on by moving the windsh ield
wiper lever to any posit ion.
- Worn or dirty windshield wiper blades result
in streaking. This can affect the rain sensor
funct ion. Check your windshield wiper
blades regularly.
- The washer fluid nozzles for the windshie ld
washer system are heated at low tempera­
tures when the ignition is on .
- When stopping temporarily, such as at a
traffic light, the speed of the windshield
wipers automatically reduces by one level.
Cleaning the wiper blades
Clean the wiper blades when you see wiper
strea ks. Use a soft clot h and a glass cleane r.

position, or drive faster than 8 mph (12 km/h).
You can also turn the service position on or off in
the Infotainment system:

.. Insert the new wiper blade into the mount on
the wiper arm @until it clicks into place .

A WARNING
For safety reasons, the windshield wiper
blades should be replaced once or twice each
year.
@ Note
- Only fold the windshield wipers away when they are in the service position. Otherwise,
you risk damaging the paint on the hood or
the windshield w iper motor .
- You should not move your vehicle or operate
the w indshield wiper lever when the wiper
arms are folded away from the windshield.
The windshield wipe rs would move back in­
to their original position and could damage
the hood and windshield.
- To reduce the risk of damage to the wiper
system, always loosen blades which are fro­
zen to the windshield before operating the
wipers.
- To reduce the risk of damage to the wiper
blades, do not use gasoline, kerosene, paint
thinner, or other so lvents on or near the
wiper blades.
- To reduce the risk of damage to the wiper
arms or other components, do not attempt
to move the wipers by hand.
(D Tips
- You can also use the service position, for ex­
ample, if you want to protect the windshield
from icing by using a cover.
- You cannot activate the service position
when the hood is open.

Digital compass

The digital compass only works when the ignition is turned on. The directions are indicated with ab­
breviations:
N (north), NE (northeast), E (east),
SE (southeast), S (south), SW (southwest), W
(west), NW (northwest) .

To prevent inaccurate compass readings, do
not bring any remote controls, electrical devi­
ces or metallic objects near the mirror .

style.
Operating noise
Noises may occur when braking depending on the
speed , braking force and outside conditions such
as temperature and humidity.
Wet conditions or road salt
In certain situations, for example after driving
through water, in heavy ra in or after washing
your car, the braking effect may be reduced due
to moisture or ice on the brake rotors and brake
pads . The brakes must be "dried" first with a few
careful brake applications.
At higher speeds and with the windsh ie ld wipers
turned on, the brake pads press against the brake
rotors for a short amount of time. This action,
which is not felt by the driver, happens at regular
intervals and ensures a better reaction time for
the brakes in wet weather.
The braking effect can also be reduced if you are
driving on salted roads and you do not apply the
brakes for long periods of time . The layer of sa lt
on the brake rotors and pads must be worn off
first when the brakes are applied.
Corrosion
Leaving the vehicle parked for long periods of
time, low mi leage and avoiding heavy braking
can contribute to corrosion on the brake rotors
and to dirty brake pads.
If you usually avoid heavy braking or if there is
corrosion present, occasional heavy braking at
high speeds is recommended to clean the brake
rotors and pads¢

Brake system malfunction
If you notice that the brake pedal travel has sud­
denly increased, then a brake circuit in the dual­
circuit brake system may have malfunctioned.
Drive to an authorized Audi dea ler or authorized
Audi Service Facility immediately to have the
problem corrected. On the way there, drive with
reduced speed and keep in mind that you will
need a longer distance to stop and you w ill need
to press the brake pedal harder .
Intelligent Technology
Low brake fluid level
When the brake fluid level is low, malfunctions in
the brake system may occur. The brake fluid level
is e lectronica lly monitored.
Brake booster
T he brake booster amplifies the pressure you ap­
ply to the brake pedal.
Ceramic brakes
Applies to: vehicles with ceramic brakes
Ceramic brakes provide excellent deceleration
rates .
The break-in period for new ceramic brakes may
be significantly longer than for standard brake
rotors. Due to the properties of the material,
they may cause noises at lower speeds. Ceramic
brakes also absorb more moisture in wet condi­
tions. Therefore, there will temporarily be less
braking force than when the brakes are dry. You
can compensate for this by pressing the brake
peda l harder.
& WARNING ~ -
- On ly app ly the brakes for the purpose of
cleaning the brake system when road and
traffic cond itions permit. You must not en­
danger other road users. This increases the
risk of an accident .
- Never let the vehicle roll while the engine is
stopped because this increases the risk of an
accident.
- Never place objects in the dr iver's footwell.
An object could end up in the area around
the pedals and prevent you from using
them. You would not be able to use the ped­
als if sudden driv in g or braking maneuvers
were needed, which increases the ris k of an
accident.
- Only use floor mats that do not obstruct the
area around the pedals and that can be se­
curely fastened in the footwells.
- To reduce the risk of injury, do not place
your foot under the brake pedal.

General information
Regular, proper ca re helps to maintain your ve hi­
cle's value. It can a lso be a requirement when
submitting warranty claims fo r cor rosion damage
and pa int defects on the body.
The requ ired cleaning and care p roducts can be
obtained from an authorized Audi dea le r or au ­
thor iz ed Se rvice Facility . Read and follow the in ­
structions for use on the packaging .

of reach of chi ldren to reduce the r isk of po i­
soning .

- Do not d ispose o f leftove r clea ning and ca re
p roducts with house hold t rash.
Car washes
T he longer that deposits s uch as insects, bird
d roppings, tree sap or road salt remain on the ve­
h icle, the more the surface can be damaged. High
temperatures such as those ca used by sun light
in crease the damag ing effect .
Before washing, r inse off heavy depos its with
p le nty of water.
St ubborn deposits s uch as bird d roppings or tree
sap are best removed with plenty of wate r and a
m icr ofibe r cloth.
A lso, wash t he un derside of yo ur vehicle once
road sa lt stops being used for the seaso n.
Pressure washers
When washing your ve hicle wit h a pressu re wash­
e r, al ways fo llow the operating instr uctions pro ­
v ided wi th t he p ress ure washer. This is espe cially
i mportant in rega rd to the p ressure and sp raying
d istance . Do not aim the sp ray directly at the

seals on the side w indows, doo rs, lid s or the s un ­
r oof * or at tires, r ubber hoses, insulat ing mater i­
al, sensors* or camera lenses* . Keep a distance of
at least 16 in (40 cm).

Automatic car washe s
Spray off the vehicle befo re washing.
Make s ure that the w indows and roo f* are closed
and the windsh ie ld wipers are off . Follow instruc ­
tions from the car wash ope rato r, especially if
the re are accesso ries attached to your vehicle.
If possible, use car washes that do not have
brushes .
Washing by hand
Clean the ve hicle starting from t he top and wor k­
in g down using a soft sponge o r clea ning br ush.

Washing vehicles with matte finish paint by
hand
To avo id da mag ing the p aint w hen w ashi ng, fi rs t
r emove dust and large p art icl es from you r vehi ­
cl e. Insects, grease spots and finger prints are
best removed w ith a s pecial cleane r fo r matte
f inish paint.
Apply t he p rodu ct using a microf iber cloth . To
avo id damag ing t he pa in t surface, do no t use too
much pressure.
Rinse t he ve hicl e thoroug hly w ith w ate r. T hen
cl ea n usi ng a neutra l shampoo an d a soft mi cro­
f iber cloth .
R inse t he ve hicle thoroug hly aga in and let it air
dry. Remove any wate r residue using a chamois.
