Opening and clo sin g
- When locking the vehicle from outside, the
vehicle must be unoccupied since the win ­
dows can no longer be opened in an emer­
gency .
(D Tips
-Using switches @ and@, the driver can a l­
so operate the power sunshades* in the side
windows.
- After turning the ignition off you can still
open and close the windows for approxi­ mately 10 minutes . The power windows do
not switch off until the driver's door or front
passenger's door has been opened .
Correcting power window malfunctions
You can reactivate the one-touch up/down func­
tion if it malfunctions .
• Pull the power window switch up until the win­
dow is comp letely ra ised.
• Release the sw itch and pull it up again for at
least one second .
Sunroof
Operation
Applies to: vehicles with sliding/tilting sunroof

• T o tilt the sunroof comp letely, press the button
u p briefly to the second level.
• T o close the sunroof comp letely, pull the but­
ton down briefly to the second

• To se lect an intermediate position, press/pull
the switch to the first level until the desired po ­
sition is reached.

• To open the sunroof complete ly, slide the but­
ton back to just before the second level.
• To close the s unroof complete ly, slide the b ut­
ton forward briefly to the second level

• To select a partially open position, slide the
bu tton forward/back to the first level until the
desired pos it ion is reached.
A wind def lector integrated into the sliding/tilt­
ing sunroof adapts automatically to the speed
and sunroof pos ition. Th is reduces wind noise to
a minimum in all sunroof posit ions.
You can still operate the sliding/tilting sunroof
for about 10 minutes after the ignit ion is swi tch­
ed off. The switch is deactiva ted once the driver's
or front passenger's door is opened .
Sunshad e
The sunshade opens automatically when sliding
the roof open.
Vehicles with a glass panel sunroof : the sunshade
can be opened and closed by hand when the sun­
roof is closed.
Vehicles with a solar panel s unroof*: the closed
sunshade opens automatica lly when the sunroof
opens.
~ WARNING
Pay careful attention when clos ing the slid ­
ing/tilting sunroof - otherwise serious injury
could result! Always take the ignition key w ith
you when leav ing the veh icle.
(D Note
-
A lways close your sliding/tilting sunroof when
l eaving your vehicle. Rain can cause damage
to the interior equipment of your vehicle, par­ ticularly the electronic equ ipment .

- For information on the so lar roof *, refer to

-The sunroof will only open down to -20 °C
(-4 °F).

Applies to: vehicles with sliding/tilting sunroof
If the sunroof detects an object in its path when
it is clos ing, it w ill open again automatically. In
this case, you can close the roof w ith the power
emergency closing function.
.. Within five seconds after the sunroof opens au­
tomat ically, pull the switch unt il the roof
closes.

Tilting the rear segment of the roof
The rear segment of the roof can be operated
both from the cockpit and from the rear seat .

!REAR MODE !button ¢ fig. 39. Yo u can now
open/close the rear segment of the roof using
the~ button in the headliner. The LED in the
front of the headliner turns on when the rear
roof segment is tilted.
You can sti ll operate the panorama glass roof for
about 10 minutes after the ignition is switched
off. The switch is deactivated once the driver's or
front passenger's door is opened .

Be careful when closing the panorama glass
roof

Sw itch off the ignition when ex iting the veh i­
cle .

Always close the panorama glass roof when

climate control
Description
The climate control system warms, cools and re ­
moves humidity from the air in the vehicle interi­
or. It is the most effective when the windows and
sunroof* are closed. If there is a build-up of heat inside the vehicle, ventilation can help to speed
up the cooling process .
In all heating mode functions, except for defrost,
the blower only switches to a higher speed once
the engine coolant has reached a sufficient tem­
perature .
Pollut ant filt er
The po llutant filter removes pollutants such as
dust and pollen from the air.
Ke y r eco gnition
The climate control settings are a utomatically
stored and assigned to the remote control key
that is in use .
A WARNING
Poor visibility can lead to accidents.
- For safer driving, keep all windows free of
ice, snow and fog .
- Become familiar as quickly as possible with
the correct use and function of the climate contro l system, especially with the defrost­
ing and defogging function.
- When the temperature is below freezing,
only use the windshield washer system after

the windshield has been warmed by the cli­
mate control system. The washer fluid could
freeze on the windshield and impair visibili­
ty .
@ Note
-If you suspect that the climate contro l sys­
tem is damaged, switch the system off to
prevent further damage and have it checked
by an authorized Audi dealer or authorized
Aud i Serv ice Facility.
- Repa irs to the Aud i climate control system
require special technical knowledge and
special tools . See an authorized Aud i dealer
or authorized Audi Serv ice Fac ility .
@ For the s ake of the environment
Reducing the amount of fuel used also re­
duces the amount of pollutants that enter the
a ir .
(D Tips
- To prevent interference with the heat ing
and cooling output and to prevent the win­
dows from fogging over, the a ir intake in
fro nt of t he w indshie ld must be free of ice,
snow or leaves.
- Condensat ion from the coo ling system can
dr ip and form a pudd le of water under the
veh icle . T h is is no rma l and does not mean
there is a leak .
- Th e energy management system may tem­
porarily switch off certain functions, suc h as
the seat heating* or rear window defogger .
T hese systems are avai lable again as soon
as the energy supply has been restored.

Warm and cold
(D Note
To avoid damage to the heating elements in
the seats, do not kneel on the seats or place
heavy loads on a small area of the seat.
Basic settings
The climate control system basic settings ore ac­
cessed in the Infotainment system.
,.. Select: the ICARI function button > Car systems
control button > AC.
Rear seat settings*
When this function is selected, all settings for
the rear can be adjusted through the climate con­
trol system in the cockpit. The climate control
system settings cannot be adjusted in the rear
seat at the same time. This function switches off
after a certain period of time or when one of the
dials in the cockpit is pressed.
Auto recirculation*
The sensit ivity level of the automatic recircula­
tion mode can be set at various levels from
Off to
Sensitive. When recirculation mode 1~ 1 is switch­
ed on, the air recirculation is controlled automat­
ically. If the windows fog up, press the
I ® FRONT I
button.
Footwell temperature
You can adjust the footwell temperature so that
it is cooler or warmer .
Solar roof*
Parking ventilation is controlled automatically in
the
Auto setting.
When the ignition is switched off, solar-powered
parking ventilation may switch on, as long as
- there is sufficient sunlight,
- the outside temperature is not too low,
- the sunroof is closed or tilted and
-Auto (Infotainment system) is set

Steering wheel heating
Applies to: vehicles with steering wheel heating
The steering wheel rim can be heated .

The temperature is maintained at a constant lev­
el when steering wheel heating is switched on.
The steering wheel heating settings are stored

The system gu ides you through the input with
visual and audio feedback .

For the s ystem to understand you:
Speak clearly and dist inct ly at a normal volume.
Speak louder when driving faster.
Emphasize the words in the commands even ly
and do not leave long pauses.
Do not speak a command when t he voice recogni ­
tion system is making an anno uncement.
C lose t he doors, the windows a nd the sunroof* to
reduce bac kg round noise . Make s ure t hat passen ­
gers a re not speaking when yo u are giving a voice
command.

The following overv iews describe the commands
that can be used to operate the MMI using the
vo ice recog nition system .

Audi pre sense Preventative passenger
protection
Applies to: ve hicles with Audi pre sense
Pre sense can initiate steps to protect vehicle oc­
cupants in certain dangerous situations. The
functions descr ibed are available depending on
veh icle equ ipment:
Audi pre sense ba sic
The fo llowing functions can be triggered in cer­
tain driving situat ions:
- Tightening of the safety belts (for examp le,
during heavy braking) : the front safety belts
have reversible belt tensioners. If a collision
does not occur, the safety belts loosen slightly
and are ready to trigger again.
- Closing the w indows and the sunroof*
The function of the pre sense basic is activated at
a speed of 20 mph (30 km/h) or hig her . The de­
p loyment time is adapted in the drive select dy ­
namic mode .
Audi pre se ns e front ( vehicl es with adapti ve
cruise contr ol* }
Pre sense front contains the f unctions of pre
sense basic. In add ition, the likelihood of a rear­
end collis ion with the vehicle ahead is also calcu­
lated, within the limits of the system . If the risk
of a collision is detected, t he following functions
can t rigger:
- Audi braking guard

-Tensioning of the safety belts
- Closing the windows and the sunroof *
Audi pre sense rear (vehicles with side
a ss is t*)
Pre sense rear contains t he functions of pre sense
basic. In addition, the like lihood of a rear-end
col lision from t he vehicle behind is a lso ca lculat­
ed, w ith in the lim its of the system. If the risk of a
collis ion is detected, the following functions can

~ -Tensioning of the safety belts
g -Closing the windows and the sunroof *
:c ' Audi pre sense
-Adjusting the seats : the settings for the powe r
head restrains, the upper sections of the backr ­
ests and the pne umatic side bolsters* change
on the front seats and the outer rear seats*. If
a co llision does not occur, the seat sett ings
that were previously used are restored .
Audi pre sen se plus
Pre sense plus contains the f unctions of pre
sense front and pre sense rear .

Preventative passenger protect ion is not ava ila­
ble. Drive to an autho rized Aud i deale r or author­
ized Audi Se rvice Facility immed iately to have the
malfunction corrected.
& WARNING

Pr e sense cannot overcome natural p hys ica l
l aws .
It is a system designed to assist and it
cannot prevent a co llision. Do not let the in­
creased safety provided tempt you into tak ing
risks. This could inc rease your r isk of a colli ­
sion.
- The system can dep loy incorrectly.
- Please note that t he sensors do not a lways
detect a ll objects. T his increases the r isk of
a co llision.
- Pre sense does not react to peop le or ani­
mals or objects that are cross ing the vehi­
cle's path or are difficu lt to detect
¢page 95.
- Reflective objects such as gua rd ra ils or the
entrance to a tunnel, heavy ra in and ice can
affect the funct io n of the radar sensors and
the system's ab ility to detect a collision risk.
@ Note
The sensors can be d isplaced by impacts or
damage to the bumper, wheel housi ng and
underbody. Pre sense can be impaired by this .
