A WARNING ,.___
Do not assume the roads are free of ice based
on the outside temperature display . Be aware
that there may be ice on roads even when the
outside temperature is around 41 °F (+5 °C)
and that ice can increase the risk of accidents.
(D Tips
-You can select the units used for tempera­
ture, speed and other measurements in the
Infotainment system.
- If your vehicle is stationary or if you are driv­
ing at very low speeds, the temperature dis­
played may be slightly higher than the ac­
tual temperature outside due to the heat ra­
diating from the engine.
- For information on the audio/video and nav­
igation* functions, refer to the separate In­
fotainment system operating manual.

Operation
The driver information system is operated using
the buttons on the multifunction steering wheel.

Resetting values to zero
• In the Vehicle functions menu, select On­
board computer or Efficiency program.
• You can now select between the long-term
memory and short-term memory .
• To reset the va lues in a memory, press and hold
the thumbwheel @for one second.

- Short-term memory overv iew
- Long-te rm memory overview
The short-term memory collects driving informa­
tion from the time the ignition is switched on un­
til it is switched off . If you continue driving with­
i n two hours after switching the ignition off, the
new values are included w hen calculating the cur-
rent trip information.

memory is not erased automatica lly. You can se­
lect the time period for evaluat ing trip informa­
tion yourself .

Fuel consumption
The cu rrent fue l consumption can be shown us ­
i ng a ba r graph
¢ fig . 8. The average consump­
tion stored in the short-term memory is also dis­ p layed.
If the bar is green, your vehicle is saving
fuel through one of the following functions:
- Recuperation : electrical energy can be stored in
the vehicle battery when the vehicle is coasting or driving downhill. The bar will move toward
0 .
-Cylinder on demand system*: the engine auto­
matically switches four cylinders
off when low­
er power output is required and other condi­
tions are met. This change is not noticeable to
the passengers.

The date, time of day and time and date for­
mat can be set in the Infotainment system
c::> page 22.
Efficiency program

The effic iency program can help you to use less
fuel. It shows other consumers that are using
fuel and economy tips give advice on how to drive
efficiently. The efficiency program receives dis­
tance and consumption data from the on-board
computer.
To display the efficiency program, open the
Vehi ­
cle functions
menu and select the Efficiency pro­
gram
menu item.
Other consumers
T he Energy consumers view lists other equip­
ment that is currently affecting fue l consump­
tion. The display shows up to three other equ ip­
ment
items @¢ fig. 9. The equipment using the
most power is listed first. If more than three
items using power are switched on, the equip­
ment that is current ly using the most power is
displayed.
A gauge @also shows the current tota l con­
sumption of all other consumers.
Economy tips
In certain situations, economy tips appear auto­
matically for a short t ime in the efficiency pro­
gram
c::> fig. 10 . If you follow these economy tips,
you can reduce your vehicle's fuel consumption.
To turn an economy tip off immediately after it
appea rs, p ress any button on the multifunction
steering wheel.

- If you erase the data in the effic iency pro­
gram, the va lues in the on-board computer
wi ll also be reset.

there is a malfunction in the central locking
system . Have the problem corrected by an
authorized Audi dea ler or authorized Audi
Service Facility.

The convenience key • is a remote control key with
special functions

You can unlock/lock your vehicle with the remote
control key. A mechan ica l key is integrated in the
remote control key

This key is not intended for constant use. It
should only be used in an emergency. Do not car­ ry it on your key ring and do not store it in the ve­
hicle.
Replacing a key
If a key is lost, see an authorized Audi dealer or
authorized Audi Service Facility . Have
this key de ­
activated. It is important to bring a ll keys with
you.
If a key is lost, yo u should report it to your
insurance company.
Number of keys
You can check the number of keys assigned to
your vehicle in the Infotainment system . Select:

This way, you can make sure that you have

Electronic immobilizer
The immobilizer prevents unauthorized use of
the ve hicle .
Und er certain circumstances, the vehicle may not
be able to sta rt if there is a key from a different
vehicle manufacturer on the key chain.
Data in the master key
When driving, service and ma intenance-relevant
data is cont inuously stored in your remote con­
trol key . Your Audi service advisor can read out
th is data and tell you about the work yo ur vehicle
needs. This app lies also to vehicles w ith a con­
venience key*.
Personal convenience settings
If two people use one vehicle, it is recommended
that each person always uses "their
own" master
k ey. When the ignition is turned off or when the
vehicle is locked, personal conven ience settings
for the following systems are stored and as­
s igned to the remote master key.
- Climate control system
- Ce ntral locking system
- W indows
- Interior lighting*
- Memory function*
- Parking aid*
- Adapt ive cr uise control•
- Active lane assist*
- Side assist*
- Dr ive select
- Night vision assist*
- Steering wheel heating*
T he stored settings are automat ically recalled
when you unlock the vehicle, open the doo rs or
turn on the ignition.
_& WARNING ~
If you leave the vehicle, switch the ignition off
and take the vehicle key w ith you. This applies
particularly when children remain in the vehi­
cle . Otherwise the children could start the en­
g ine or operate electrical equipment such as
power windows .

Adjusting the exterior mirrors

Turn the knob to the desired position:

Front passenger's exterior mirror tilt
function*
To help you see the curb when back ing into a
parking space, the surface of the mirror tilts
slightly. For this to happen, the knob must be in
the posit ion for the front passenger's exterior
mirror .
You can adjust the tilted mirror surface by turn­
ing the knob in the desired direction. When you
move out of reverse and into another gear, the
new mirror position is stored and assigned to the
key you are using.
The mirror goes back into its original position
once you drive forward faster than 9 mph
(15 km/h) or turn the ignition off.
A WARNING
Curved mirror surfaces (convex or aspheric*)
enlarge the field of vision. However, they
make objects in the mirror appear smaller
and farther away. You may estimate incor-

rectly when you use these mirrors to gauge
your distance from the vehicles behind you
when changing lanes, which increases the risk
of an accident.
(D Note
- If the mirror housing was moved by force
(for example, by running into an object
when maneuvering the vehicle), the mirror must be folded all the way in using the pow­
er folding function. The mirror hous ing
must not be moved back into place by hand
because this would impair the function of
the mirror mechanism.
- If you wash the vehicle in an automatic car
wash, you must fold the exter ior mirrors in
to reduce the risk of damage to the mirrors.
Never fold power fold ing exterior mirrors *
by hand. Only fold them in and out using
the power controls .
(D Tips
-If the power adjusting function malfunc­
tions, the glass in both mirrors can be ad­
justed by pressing on the edge of it by hand.

Memory function
Description

Us ing the memory function, you can quickly and
easily store a persona l seat profile fo r the driver
and front passenge r and recall the sett ings. The
memo ry func tion is co ntro lled using the remote
contro l key and the memory buttons i n the dr iv­
er's/front passe nger's door*.
T he driver's seat profile is stored again and as­
s igned to the remote cont rol key each t ime t he
vehicle is loc ked. When you open the door, the
seat profile is automatically recalled. If two peo­
ple use the vehicle, it is recommended that each
person always uses their
"own" remote control
key.
T wo sea t profiles can be stored using the memo ­
ry buttons in the driver's/front passenger's
door* . Once they are stored, these seat profi les
can be selected at any time .

Accessing a seat profile

-For safety reasons, the seat setting can only

Power steering wheel position adjustment

The steering wheel position can be adjusted elec­
trically up and down and forward and back.

The steering wheel can also be adjusted when the ignition is switched off .
In vehicles with memory fun ction*, the steering
column settings are stored together with the
seat position.
Driving
A WARNING
Improper use of steering wheel adjustment
and improper seating position can cause seri­
ous personal injury.
- Adjust the steering wheel column only when
the vehicle is not moving to prevent loss of
vehicle control.
- Adjust the driver's seat or steering wheel so
that there is a minimum of 10 in (25 cm) between your chest and the steering wheel
¢ page 126, fig. 138. If you cannot main­
tain this minimum distance, the airbag sys­
tem cannot protect you properly.
- If physical limitations prevent you from sit­
ting 10 in (25 cm) or more from the steer­
ing wheel, check with your authorized Audi
dealer to see if adaptive equipment is avail­
able.
- If the steering wheel is aligned with your
face, the supplemental driver's airbag can­ not provide as much protection in an acci­
dent. Always make sure that the steering
wheel is aligned with your chest.
- Always hold the steering wheel with your
