Determining correct load
limit
Use the example below to calcu­
late the total weight of the pas -

things that you plan to transport so that you can make sure that
your vehicle will not be overload­

Steps for Determining Correct Load Limit

Wheel bolts and rims
Wheel bolts
Wheel bolts must be clean and loosen/t ighten
eas ily.
Rims
Rims with a bolted rim ring " or with bolted wheel
covers* consist of m ultip le pieces . These compo­
n ents were bolted together using specia l bolts
a nd a special procedure . You must not repair or
d isassemble

- Always keep the wheel bolts and the
threads in the wheel h ub clean and free of
grease.
- Only use wheel bolts that fit the rim.
- Always have damaged rims repaired by an
author ized Audi dealer or author ized Audi
Serv ice Facility. Never repair o r disassemb le
rims yourself, because th is increases the r isk
of an acc ident .
Winter tires
Winter tires significantly imp rove the vehicle 's
handling when dr iv ing in winter conditions . Be­
ca use of their const ruct ion (w idth , compou nd,
t read pattern), s ummer tires prov ide less t rac­
t ion on i ce and snow.

.,. Only use winter tires that are app roved for yo ur

The effectiveness of winter tires is reduced great­
ly when the tread is worn down to a depth of
0.16 in (4 mm). The characteristics of w inter
tires also decrease greatly as the tire ages, re ­
gardless of the rema ining t read .

- Never d rive fa ster than the max imum pe r­
mitted spee d for your tires. This could c ause
the t ires to he at up too mu ch. This inc reases
the risk of an accident because it can cause
the tire to burst.
- Always adapt your driving to the road and
traffic conditions. Drive carefully and reduce
your spee d on icy or slippery roads . Even
winter t ires can lose t ract ion on black ice.

Reinstall su mmer tires at the appropriate
time, because they pro vide better handling
when roads are free of snow and ice. Summer tires cause less road noise, tire wear and fuel
consumption.

You can also use all season tires instead of

Snow chains
Snow chains not only imp rove the dr iving in w in ­
ter ro ad conditions, b ut also the brak ing .
.,. Only install snow chains o n the front wheels .
.,. Check and cor rect the seating of the snow
c h ains after dr iv ing a few feet, if ne cessa ry . Fo l­
low the ins tructions from the m anufactu rer.
.,. Note the maximum permit ted speed when driv ­
ing with snow chains. Do not exceed 30 mp h
(SO km/h) .
Use of snow chains is o nly pe rmitted with certain
rim/tire combinations due to technical reasons .
Check with an authorized A udi dealer or author­
ized Audi Service Fac ility to see if you may use
snow chains.
Use fine-mesh snow chain s. They must not add
more t han 0.53 in (13 .5 mm) in height, includ ing
the chain lock .
You mus t remove the snow chains on roads w it h­
out snow . Otherwise, you could impai r dr iving
abi lity and damage the tires .

Us ing inco rrect snow chains or insta lling snow
chains incorrectly can result in loss of vehicle
control, which increases t he risk of an acc i­
dent .

Low-profile tires
App lies to: vehicles with low-profi le tires
Your vehicle is equipped with low-profile t ires* at
the factory. Compared to other tire/r im combina­
t ions, low-profi le tires offer a w ider t read surface
and a la rger r im diamete r with shorter tire side­
walls. This results in an agile dr iv ing style. How­
ever, i t may reduce the leve l of com fort and in ­
crease road noise whe n driving on roads in poo r
condition .
Low-p rofile ti res ca n become damaged mo re
q uickl y than st andar d tires when dr iv ing ove r
l a rge bumps, potholes, manhole covers, speed
b u mps and curbs . Therefore, it is particularly im ­
portant to maintain the correct tire pressure
r::> page 3 51.
To reduce the risk of damage to the tires and
rims, drive very caref ully on poor roads.
Check your wheels regu larly eve ry 2,000 m i
( 3 ,00 0 km) for d amage. For ex am ple, c heck for
bulges/crac ks on the tires or deformations/
c racks on the rims.
Af ter a heavy imp act o r damage, have the tires
and rims i nspected or replaced immedia tely by
an a uthorized Audi dea le r or authorized Audi
Service Facility .
Low-p rofile ti res c an wear out f aster than stand­
a rd tires.
Summer tires are not suitable fo r cold weather,

Tread wear
The tread wear grade is a comparat ive rating
based on the wear rate of the t ire when tested
under cont ro lled conditions o n a specified gov ­
e rnment test course.

The relative performance of t ires depends upo n
the actual conditions of their use, howeve r, and
may depart significant ly from the norm due to

Traction
The traction grades, from highest to lowest, are
AA, A, B and
C. T hose grades represent the t ire's
ab ility to stop on wet pavement as meas ured un ­
de r contro lled condi tions on specified gove rn­
ment tes t sur faces of asphalt and conc re te. A tire
mar ked C may have poor traction performance

The temperature grades are A (t he hi ghest), B ,
a nd C, represent ing the tire's resis tan ce to t he
generation o f heat and its ability to diss ipate

109 . Grades Band A represent higher levels
of pe rformance on the laboratory test wheel than

-The tractio n grade assigned to this tire is
based on s traight-a head braking traction
t e st s, and does no t include acceler ation, co r­
n eri ng, hy dropla ning or pe ak tra ction charac­
terist ics.

The tempera ture grade for t his tire is estab­
lished for a tire that is properly inflated and
not overloaded . Excessive speed, underinfla ­
tion, or excessive loading, either separate ly or
i n comb inat ion, can cause heat bu ildup and
possib le tire fai lure.

Tire pressure monitoring system
ill General notes
Each tire, including the spare (if provided),
shou ld be checked monthly whe n cold and inflat ­
ed to the inflat io n pressure recommended by the
vehicle manufacturer on the veh icle placard or
t ir e infla tion pressure labe l. (If your ve hicle has
t ir es of a different size t han t he size ind ic a ted on
the vehicle p lacard or tire inflat ion press ure la ­
bel, you sho uld dete rm ine the proper tire infla­
tion pr ess ure for those tires) .
As an ad ded s afe ty featu re, yo ur vehicle has bee n
equipped with a tire p ressure mon itor ing system
(TPMS) that illuminates a low tire pressure tell­
ta le when one or mo re of your tires is significant-
l y under -inf lated. According ly, when the low t ire
pressure telltale i llum inates, you shou ld stop

check you r tires as soon as possible, and inflate
them to the proper pressure. Driving on a signifi­
cantly under-inflated tire causes the tire to over­
heat and can lead to t ire failure. Under-inflation
also reduces fuel efficiency and t ire tread life,
a nd may affect the veh icle's handling and stop ­
p ing ability .
Please note that the TPMS is not a substit ute for
proper tire maintenance, and it is the driver's re­
sponsib ility to ma inta in correct tire pressure,
even if under-inflation has not reached the level
to tr igger illum inat io n of the TPMS low tire p res­
sure tellta le.
Your veh icle has also bee n eq uipped w ith a TPMS
malfunct ion i nd icator to indicate when the sys­
t e m is not operat ing properly. The TPMS ma l­
f u nction indicator is comb ined w ith the low tire
p ress ure tellt ale. Whe n the system dete cts a
malfunct ion, the te lltale will flash for approxi­
mate ly one min ute and then remain continuo usly
i l luminated. This sequence will continue upon
subseq uent veh icle start- ups as long as the ma l­
function ex ists .
When the malf unctio n indicator is ill uminated,
the system may not be able to detect or signa l
low tire pressure as intended . TPMS ma lf u nctions
may occur for a variety of reasons, including the
installation of replacement or alternate t ires or
wheels on the vehicle that prevent the TPMS from functioning prope rly . Always c heck the
TPMS malfunct ion tellta le afte r replacing one o r
mo re t ires o r whee ls on your ve hicle to e nsu re
t hat the repla cement or altern ate t ires and
wheels a llow the TPM S to con tinue to function
p roperly.
If the tire pressure monitoring indicator
appears
The tire pressure indicator in the instrument
cluster informs you if the tire pressure is too low
or if there is a system malfunction .
Using the ABS sensors, the tire pressure mon itor­
ing system compares the tire tread circ umfer­
ence and vibration cha racteristics of the individu­
a l tires. If the pressure changes in one or more
tires, this is ind icated i n the instrument cluste r

display with an indicato r light RE and a message .
If only one tire is affected, the location of that
t ir e will be indicated.
The tire press ures mus t be sto red in the Infotain­
ment system again each time the p ress ures
c h ange (switching between partia l and full load
pressure) or afte r changing or replac ing a tire on
yo ur vehicle

tor ing system on ly monitors the tire pressure you
have stored . Refer to the t ire pressure label for
t h e recommended t ire pressu re for you r vehicle

Tire tread circumference and vibrat ion characte r­
i stics can change and ca use a tire press ure warn­
i ng if:
-the t ire pressure in one or more tires is too low
-the t ires have structural damage
-t he t ire was rep laced or the t ire pressu re was
changed and it was not stored

- If the tire pressure indicator appears in the
display, reduce your speed immediately and
avoid any hard steering or braking maneu­
vers. Stop as soon as possible and check the
tires and their pressure.
- The driver is responsible for maintaining the
correct tire pressure. You must check the
tire pressure regularly.
- Under certain conditions (such as a sporty
driving style, winter conditions or unpaved
roads), the tire pressure monitoring system
indicator may be delayed.
@ Tips
- The tire pressure monitoring system can al­
so stop working when there is an ESC mal­
function.
- Using snow chains may result in a system
malfunction.
- The tire pressure monitoring system in your
Audi was calibrated with "Audi Original
Tires"
¢page 348. Using these tires is rec­
ommended.
Storing tire pressures
If the tire pressure changes or a tire is replaced,
it must be confirmed in the Infotainment sys­ tem.

off and follow the instructions from the car
wash operator to reduce the risk of acci­ dents .
- To reduce the risk of cuts, protect yourself from sha rp metal components when wash­
ing the underbody or the inside of the wheel
housings .
- After washing the vehicle, the bra king effect
may be de layed due to mo isture on the
bra ke rotors or i ce in the w inte r. This in­
cre ases the risk of an ac ciden t. T he bra kes
must be dried first with a few careful brake
applications .

signs on vehicle parts painted with matte
finish paint . The paint could be damaged
when the stickers or magne ts are re­
moved .

Care and cleaning
-Wheels
-Never use any paint polish or other abra-
sive materials.
- Damage to the protective layer on the
rims such as stone chips or scratches must
be repaired immediately.
- Sensors/camera lenses
- Never use warm or hot water to remove
snow or ice from the camera lens. This
could cause the lens to crack.
- Never use abrasive cleaning materials or
alcohol to clean the camera lens. This
could cause scratches and cracks.
- Power top
- Remove bird droppings immediately.
- Never use gasoline, spot remover, ben-
zene, paint thinner or other solvents to re­
move.
- Door windows
- Remove snow and ice on windows and ex-
terior mirrors with a plastic scraper. To avoid scratches, move the scraper only in
one direction and not back and forth.
- Never remove snow or ice from door win­
dows and mirrors using warm or hot water
because this could cause cracks to form.
- To avoid damage to the rear window de­
fogger, do not apply any stickers on the heating wires on the inside of the window.
- Decorative parts/trim
- Never use chrome care or cleaning prod-
ucts.
- Paint
-To reduce the risk of scratches, the vehicle
must be free of dirt and dust before pol­
ishing or waxing.
- To prevent paint damage, do not polish or
wax the vehicle in direct sunlight .
- To reduce the risk of paint damage, do not
polish away rust spots .
- Remove cosmetics and sunscreen immedi­
ately- these could damage the paint.
- Displays/instrument cluster
- Make sure that the instrument cluster is

switched off and has cooled off before
cleaning it. - Displays, the
instrument cluster and the
trim surrounding it must not be cleaned
with dry cleaning methods because they
could become scratched.
- Make sure no fluids enter the spaces be­
tween the instrument cluster and the
trim, because that could cause damage.
- Controls
- Make sure that no fluids enter the con-
trols, because this could cause damage.
- Safety belts
- Do not remove the safety belts to clean
them.
- Never clean safety belts or their compo­
nents chemically or with corrosive fluids
or solvents and never allow sharp objects
to come into contact with the safety belts.
This could cause damage to the belt web­
bing.
- If there is damage to the webbing, the
connections, the retractors or the buckles, have them replaced by an authorized Audi
dealer or authorized Audi Service Facility .
-Textiles/artificial leather/ Alcantara
- Never treat artificial leather/ Alcantara
with leather care products, solvents, floor
polish, shoe polish, spot remove or similar
products.
- Have a specialist remove stubborn stains
to prevent damage.
- Never use steam cleaners, brushes, hard
sponges, etc. when cleaning.
- Do not turn on the seat heating* to dry the
seat.
- Objects with sharp edges, such as zippers
or rivets on clothing or belts, can cause
damage to the surface.
- Open hook and loop fasteners, for exam­
ple on clothing, can damage seat covers.
Make sure hook and loop fasteners are
closed.
- Natural leather
- Never treat leather with solvents, floor
polish, shoe polish, spot remover or simi­
lar products.
