*1: These lights turn on when the engine switch is turned to the “ON” position(vehicles without a smart key system) or IGNITION ON mode (vehicles
with a smart key system) to indicate that a system check is being per-
formed. They will turn off after the engine is started, or after a few seconds.
There may be a malfunction in a system if the lights do not come on, or if
the lights do not turn off. Have the vehicle inspected by your Toyota dealer
for details.

Hot: Vehicle has been driven around 50 mph (80 km/h) for 20 minutes, or slightly longer in frigid temperatures. (Fluid
temperature, 140°F - 175°F [60°C - 80°C])
Cold: Engine has not been run for about 5 hours. (Room tem- perature, 50°F - 85°F [10°C - 30°C])
■Checking the fluid level
Make sure to check the fluid type and prepare the necessary items.
Clean all dirt off the reservoir.
Remove the cap by turn ing it counterclockwise.
Wipe the dipstick clean.
Reinstall the cap and remove it again.
Check the fluid level.

If a warning light turns on or a warning
buzzer sounds
Calmly perform the following actions if any of the warning lights
comes on or flashes. If a light comes on or flashes, but then
goes off, this does not necessarily indicate a malfunction in the
system. However, if this continues to occur, have the vehicle
inspected by your Toyota dealer.

• The hill-start assist control system (if equipped);
• The active traction control system (if equipped);
• The AUTO LSD system; or
• The Crawl Control system (if equipped)
→ Have the vehicle inspected by your Toyota dealer
immediately.

Indicates a malfunction in the cruise control system.

Automatic transmission fl uid temperature warning
light

When the light comes on:
Indicates that the automatic transmission fluid tempera-
ture is too high.
→ Immediately stop the vehicle in a safe place, shift the
shift lever to P and wait until the light goes off.
If the light goes off, you may start the vehicle again. If
the light does not go off, contact your Toyota dealer.
When the light flashes:
Indicates a malfunction in the automatic transmission sys-
tem.
→ Have the system inspected by your Toyota dealer.

Indicates that the automatic transmission fluid
temperature is too high.A buzzer also sounds.
→ Immediately stop the vehicle in a safe
place, shift the shift lever to P and wait until
the message and light go off.
If the message and ligh t go off, you may
start the vehicle again.
If the message and light do not go off, con-
tact your Toyota dealer.
Indicates that the engine coolant temperature is
too high. A buzzer also sounds.

Indicates abnormal engine oil pressure
The warning light may come on if the engine oil
pressure is too low.
A buzzer also sounds.
→ Immediately stop the vehicle in a safe place
and contact your Toyota dealer.
Indicates a malfunction in the vehicle’s charging
system.
→ Immediately stop the vehicle in a safe place
and contact your Toyota dealer. Continuing
to drive the vehicle may be dangerous.
