You must observe the legal requirements for the country in which you are currently driving whenoperating mobile communications equipment in
the vehicle.
If it is permitted by law to operate communica-
tions equipment while the vehicle is in motion,
you may do so only if the traffic situation per-
mits. You may otherwise be distracted from the traffic conditions, cause an accident and injure
yourself and others.
Excessive levels of electromagnetic radiation
may cause damage to your health and to the
health of others. The use of an exterior aerial
takes into consideration the scientific discus-
sion surrounding the possible health risk posed
by electromagnetic fields.
Mercedes-Benz recommends the use of an
approved exterior aerial. This ensures:
R optimal mobile phone reception quality in the
vehicle
R that mutual interference between the vehicle
electronics and mobile phones is minimised An exterior aerial has the following advantages:
R it conducts the electromagnetic fields gener-
ated by a wireless device to the exterior
R the field strength in the vehicle interior is
lower than in a vehicle that does not have an exterior aerial

characteristics)
General notes With MOExtended tyres (tyres with run-flat char-
acteristics), you can continue to drive your vehi- cle even if there is a total loss of pressure in one
or more tyres. The affected tyre must not show
any clearly visible damage.
You can recognise MOExtended tyres by the
"MOExtended" mark that appears on the tyre
sidewall. You will find this mark next to the tyre
size designation, the load-bearing capacity and
the speed index.
MOExtended tyres may be used only in conjunc- tion with an activated tyre pressure loss warning
system or tyre pressure monitor.
If a pressure loss warning message appears in the multifunction display:
R observe the instructions in the display mes-
sages (Y page 256)
R check the tyre for damage
R if driving on, observe the following notes
The driving distance possible in run-flat mode is approximately 80 km when the vehicle is parti-
ally laden and approximately 30 km when the
vehicle is fully laden.
In addition to the vehicle load, the driving dis-
tance possible in run-flat mode depends on the:
R vehicle speed
R road condition
R outside temperature
The driving distance possible in run-flat mode
may be reduced by extreme driving conditions/ manoeuvres, or it can be increased through a
moderate style of driving.
The driving distance possible in run-flat mode iscounted from the moment the tyre pressure loss
warning appears on the multifunction display.
You must not exceed a maximum speed of
80 km/h.
When replacing one or all tyres, observe the fol-
lowing specifications for your vehicle's tyres:
R size
R type and
R the "MOExtended" marking
If a tyre has gone flat and cannot be replaced
with an MOExtended tyre, a standard tyre may
be used as a temporary measure. Make sure 318

WARNING
When driving in emergency mode, the driving characteristics deteriorate, e.g. when corner-
ing, accelerating quickly and when braking.
There is a risk of accident.
Do not exceed the stated maximum speed.
Avoid abrupt steering and driving manoeu-
vres, and driving over obstacles (kerbs, pot-
holes, off-road). This applies in particular to a laden vehicle.
Stop driving in emergency mode if:
R you hear banging noises.
R the vehicle starts to shake.
R you see smoke and smell rubber.
R ESP ®
is intervening constantly.
R there are tears in the sidewalls of the tyre.
After driving in emergency mode, have the
wheel rims checked at a qualified specialist
workshop with regard to their further use. The
faulty tyre must be replaced. TIREFIT kit
Important safety notes TIREFIT is a tyre sealant.
You can use TIREFIT to seal punctures of up to
4 mm, particularly those in the tyre tread. You
can use TIREFIT at outside temperatures down
to
Ò20 †. G
WARNING
In the following situations, the tyre sealant is
unable to provide sufficient breakdown assis- tance, as it is unable to seal the tyre properly:
R there are cuts or punctures in the tyre
larger than those mentioned above.
R the wheel rim is damaged.
R you have driven at very low tyre pressures
or on a flat tyre.
There is a risk of an accident.
Do not drive any further. Contact a qualified
specialist workshop. G
WARNING
The tyre sealant is harmful and causes irrita-
tion. It must not come into contact with your
skin, eyes or clothing or be swallowed. Do not inhale TIREFIT fumes. Keep tyre sealant away
from children. There is a risk of injury.
If you come into contact with the tyre sealant,
observe the following:
R Rinse off the tyre sealant from your skin
immediately with water.
R If the tyre sealant comes into contact with
your eyes, immediately rinse them thor-
oughly with clean water.
R If tyre sealant is swallowed, immediately
rinse your mouth out thoroughly and drink
plenty of water. Do not induce vomiting,
and seek medical attention immediately.
R Immediately change out of clothing which
has come into contact with tyre sealant.
R If an allergic reaction occurs, seek medical
attention immediately.
! After use, excess tyre sealant may run out of
the filler hose. This could cause stains.
Therefore, place the filler hose in the plastic
bag which contained the TIREFIT kit. H
Environmental note
Have the used tyre sealant bottle disposed of
professionally, e.g. at a qualified specialist
workshop. Flat tyre

Petrol
Fuel grade
!
Do not use diesel to refuel vehicles with a
petrol engine. Do not switch on the ignition if
you accidentally refuel with the wrong fuel.
Otherwise, the fuel will enter the fuel system. Even small amounts of the wrong fuel can
result in damage to the fuel system and the
engine. Notify a qualified specialist workshop
and have the fuel tank and fuel lines drained
completely.
! Only refuel using unleaded petrol with at
least 95 RON, which conforms to the Euro-
pean standard EN 228 or E DIN or an equiva-
lent specification.
Fuel of this specification may contain up to
10% ethanol. Your vehicle is suitable for use
with E10 fuel. You may refuel your vehicle
using E10 fuel.
Fuel that does not conform to EN 228 can lead
to increased wear as well as damage to the
fuel system, engine and exhaust system.
! Only use the fuel recommended. Operating
the vehicle with other fuels can lead to dam-
age to the fuel system, engine and exhaust
system.
! Do not use the following:
R petrol with more than 10% ethanol
R E100 (100% ethanol)
R petrol with methanol Service products and capacities
353Technical data Z
R
M100 (100% methanol)
R petrol with additives containing metal
R diesel
Do not mix such fuels with the fuel recom-
mended for your vehicle.
You will usually find information about the fuel
grade on the fuel pump. If you cannot find the
label on the fuel pump, ask the filling station
staff.
GLA 200, GLA 250, GLA 250 4MATIC: as a
temporary measure, if the recommended fuel is
not available, you may also use regular unleaded petrol with an octane rating of 93 RON.
All other models: as a temporary measure, if
the recommended fuel is not available, you may
also use regular unleaded petrol with an octane
rating of 91 RON. This may reduce engine per-
formance and increase fuel consumption. Avoid driving at full throttle and sudden acceleration.
Never refuel using fuel with a lower RON.
i In some countries, the petrol available may
not be sufficiently low in sulphur. This fuel can temporarily produce unpleasant odours,
especially on short journeys. As soon as sul-
phur-free fuel (sulphur content < 10 ppm) is
used for refuelling, the odours are reduced.
Information on refuelling (Y page 164).
Mercedes-AMG vehicles ! Only refuel using super unleaded petrol with
at least 98 ROZ, that conforms to European
standard EN 228 or an equivalent specifica-
tion.
You can otherwise impair engine output or
damage the engine.
Fuel of this specification may contain up to
10% ethanol. Your vehicle is suitable for use
with E10 fuel. You may refuel your vehicle
using E10 fuel.
! As a temporary measure, if the recommen-
ded fuel is not available, you may also use
unleaded petrol with an octane rating of
95 RON. This may reduce engine perform-
ance and increase fuel consumption. As much
as possible, avoid driving at full throttle.
! As a temporary measure, if the recommen-
ded fuel is not available, you may also use
unleaded petrol in emergencies with an
octane rating of 91 RON.
Doing so results in noticeably higher fuel con-
sumption, and the engine power output is noticeably reduced. Avoid driving at full throt-
tle.
If no fuel other than petrol with 91 RON or a
lower grade is available, you should have the
vehicle adapted to run on this fuel at a quali-
fied specialist workshop.
Additives ! Operating the engine with fuel additives
added later can lead to engine failure. Do not mix fuel additives with fuel. This does not
include additives for the removal and preven-
tion of residue build-up. Petrol must only be
mixed with additives recommended by
Mercedes-Benz. Observe the instructions for
use in the product description. More informa- tion about recommended additives can be
obtained from any Mercedes-Benz Service
Centre.
Mercedes-Benz recommends that you use fuel
brands that have additives.
The quality of the fuel available in some coun-
tries may not be sufficient. Residue could build
up in the fuel injection system as a result. In this
case, in consultation with a Mercedes-Benz Ser- vice Centre, the petrol should be mixed with the
cleaning additive recommended by Mercedes-
Benz. Always observe the notes and mixing
ratios specified on the container.
Diesel Fuel grade
G
WARNING
If you mix diesel fuel with petrol, the flash
point of this fuel mixture is lower than that of pure diesel fuel. When the engine is running,
components in the exhaust system may over-
heat unnoticed. There is a risk of fire.
Never refuel with petrol. Never add petrol to
diesel fuel.
! When refuelling, only use diesel fuel that
conforms to the European standard EN 590 or is of equivalent quality. Fuel that does not
conform to EN 590 can lead to increased wear
as well as damage to the engine and exhaust system. 354
Service products and capacitiesTechnical data
!
Do not use the following:
R marine diesel
R heating oil
R bio-diesel
R vegetable oil
R petrol
R paraffin
R kerosene
Do not mix such fuels with diesel fuel and do
not use any special additives. Otherwise,
engine damage may occur.
! Vehicles with diesel particle filters:
in
countries outside the EU, only use low sulphur
Euro diesel with a sulphur content of under
50 ppm. Otherwise, the emission control sys- tem could be damaged.
! Vehicles without a diesel particle filter:
in countries where only diesel fuel with a high sulphur content is available, you will need to
carry out your vehicle's oil change at shorter
intervals. More information about the interval for oil change can be obtained from any quali-
fied specialist workshop.
Usually you will find information about the fuel
grade on the pump. If you cannot find the label
on the petrol pump, ask the filling station staff.
Information on refuelling (Y page 164).
Low outside temperatures In winter months, diesel fuel with an improved
cold flow quality is available. In Europe, the
EN 590 standard defines various climate-
dependent temperature categories. Malfunc-
tions can be avoided by refuelling with diesel
fuel that corresponds to the climatic specifica-
tions outlined in EN 590. At unusually low out-
side temperatures, it is possible that the flow
characteristics of the diesel fuel could be insuf- ficient. Accordingly, diesel fuel from warmer
areas may not be suitable for operation in colder
climatic conditions.
i Further information on country-specific fuel
properties and fuel types with low-tempera-
ture resistance can be obtained from oil com-
panies, e.g. at filling stations. Engine oil
General notes When handling engine oil, observe the important
safety notes on service products (Y page 352).
The quality of the engine oil is decisive for the
function and service life of an engine. After
extensive tests, Mercedes-Benz approves
engine oils that correspond to the current tech-
nical standard.
Therefore, only Mercedes-Benz-approved
engine oils may be used in Mercedes-Benz
engines.
Further information on tested and approved
engine oils can be obtained from any Mercedes-
Benz Service Centre. Mercedes-Benz recom-
mends that you have the engine oil change car- ried out at a qualified specialist workshop.
Mercedes-Benz approval is indicated on the oil
container by the inscription "MB-Freigabe" or
"MB-Approval" and the corresponding designa-
tion, e.g. MB-Freigabe or MB-Approval 229.51.
You can call up an overview of approved engine
oils on the Internet at
http://bevo.mercedes-benz.com by entering
the designation, e.g. 229.5.
The table shows which engine oils have been
approved for your vehicle.
