
Do not tow with sling-type equipment.
This could damage your vehicle. Use
wheel-lift or
flatbed equipment.
If the electric parking brake (EPB) cannot
be released when towing the vehicle,
transport the vehicle with all front and
rear wheels raised
off the ground as
shown in the figure. If the vehicle is
towed without raising the wheels off the
ground, the brake system could be
damaged.
Wheel dollies
If towing service is not available in an
emergency, the vehicle may be towed with
all four wheels on the ground using the
towing hook at the front of the vehicle.
Only tow the vehicle on paved surfaces for
short distances at low speeds.
CAUTION
Follow these instructions when towing the
vehicle with all wheels on the ground.
1. Shift to neutral (Manual transaxle), or the N position (Automatic transaxle).
2. Switch the ignition to ON.
3. Release the parking brake.
Refer to Electric Parking Brake (EPB) on
page 4-81.
Remember that power assist for the brakes
and steering will not be available when the
engine is not running.

The indication/light illuminates when the transaxle has a problem.
CAUTION
If the automatic transaxle warning indication/light illuminates, the transaxle has an electri‐
cal problem. Continuing to drive your Mazda in this condition could cause damage to your
transaxle. Consult an expert repairer, we recommend an Authorised Mazda Repairer as
soon as possible.
4WD Warning Indi-
cation*
“4WD system malfunction” is displayed
The indication is dis played under the following conditions. The system may have a mal-
function. Have the vehicle checked at an expert repairer, we recommend an Authorised
Mazda Repairer.
•When there is a malfunction in the 4WD system.•When there is a large difference between the tyre size of the f ront and rear wheels.
“4WD system high-load” is displayed
The indication is dis played under the following conditions. Par k the vehicle in a safe
place and check that the warnin g indication light turns off, and then drive the vehicle.
Contact an expert repairer, we recommend an Authorised Mazda Repairer if the indication
is continuously displayed.
•When the differential oil temp erature is excessively high.•When there is a large difference between the front and rear whe el rotation, such as when
trying to remove the vehicle from mud.
4WD Warning
Light*
When the light is turned on
The light turns on under the following conditions. The system may have a malfunction.

When the light is flashing
Park the vehicle in a safe place. After a few moments, if the w arning light stops flashing,
you can resume driving. If the light does not stop flashing, co ntact an expert repairer, we
recommend an Authoris ed Mazda Repairer.
•When the differential oil temp erature is excessively high.•When there is a large difference between the front and rear whe el rotation, such as when
trying to remove the vehicle from mud.

TCS/DSC Indicator
Light If the light stays on, the TCS, DSC or the brake assist system
may have a malfunction and
they may not operate correctly. Take your vehicle to an expert repairer, we recommend an
Authorised Mazda Repairer.
