WARNING
Driving your vehicle with the warning
lamp on is dangerous. A significant
decrease in braking performance may occur.
It will take you longer to stop your vehicle.
Have your vehicle checked by your
authorized dealer immediately. Driving
extended distances with the parking brake
engaged can cause brake failure and the risk
of personal injury. Charging System
Illuminates when the battery is not
charging properly.
If it stays on when the engine is
running, there may be a malfunction with the
charging system. Contact your authorized
dealer as soon as possible. This indicates a
problem with the electrical system or a
related component.
Cruise Control (If Equipped) The speed control system indicator
light changes color to indicate
what mode the system is in: •
On (gray light): Illuminates when you
switch the speed control system on.
Turns off when you switch the speed
control system off.
• Engaged (white light): Illuminates when
you engage the speed control system.
Turns off when you disengage the speed
control.
Direction Indicator Illuminates when the left or right
turn signal or the hazard warning
flasher is turned on. If the
indicators stay on or flash faster, check for a
burned out bulb.

Door Ajar Displays when the ignition is on
and any door is not completely
closed.Engine Coolant Temperature Illuminates when the engine
coolant temperature is high. Stop
the vehicle as soon as possible,
switch off the engine and let cool.

Engine Oil If it illuminates with the engine
running or when you are driving,
this indicates a malfunction. Stop
your vehicle as soon as it is safe to do so
and switch the engine off. Check the engine
oil level. See Engine Oil Check (page 292).
Note: Do not resume your journey if it
illuminates despite the level being correct.
Have the system checked by your authorized
dealer immediately.
Fasten Seatbelt It will illuminate and a chime will
sound to remind you to fasten your
seatbelt.

Front Fog Lamps
Lights when you switch the front
fog lamps on.
Head Up Display (If Equipped) A red beam of lights will illuminate
on the windshield in certain
instances when using adaptive
cruise control and/or the collision warning
system. It will also illuminate momentarily
when you start your vehicle to make sure the
display works.
High Beam It will illuminate when you switch
the high beam headlamps on. It
will flash when you use the
headlamp flasher.
Liftgate Ajar Illuminates when you do not
completely close the liftgate. Low Fuel Level It will illuminate when the fuel level
is low or the fuel tank is nearly
empty. Refuel as soon as possible.
Low Tire Pressure Warning It will illuminate when your tire
pressure is low. If the lamp remains
on with the engine running or
when driving, check your tire pressure as
soon as possible.
It will also illuminate momentarily when you
switch the ignition on to confirm the lamp is
functional. If it does not illuminate when you
switch the ignition on, or begins to flash at
any time, have the system checked by your
authorized dealer.
Low Washer Fluid It will illuminate when the
windshield washer fluid is low.Parking Lamps It will illuminate when you switch
the parking lamps on.
Powertrain Malfunction/Reduced
Power Illuminates when a powertrain or
an AWD fault has been detected.
Contact your authorized dealer as
soon as possible.
Service Engine Soon If the service engine soon indicator
light stays illuminated after the
engine is started, it indicates that
the On Board Diagnostics system (OBD) has
detected a malfunction of the vehicle
emissions control system. Refer to On board
diagnostics (OBD) in the Fuel and Refueling
chapter for more information about having
your vehicle serviced. See Emission Control
System
(page 177).

PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION
Cruise control lets you maintain a set speed
without keeping your foot on the accelerator
pedal. You can use cruise control when your
vehicle speed is greater than 20 mph
(30 km/h).
USING CRUISE CONTROL WARNINGS
Do not use cruise control on winding
roads, in heavy traffic or when the road
surface is slippery. This could result in loss
of vehicle control, serious injury or death. When you are going downhill, your
vehicle speed may increase above the
set speed. The system will not apply the
brakes. Failure to follow this warning could
result in serious personal injury or death. Note:
Cruise control will disengage if the
vehicle speed decreases more than 10 mph
(16 km/h)
below the set speed while driving
uphill. The cruise controls are on the steering
wheel.
Switching Cruise Control On
Press and release
ON.
The indicator appears in the
information display.
Setting the Cruise Speed
1. Drive to desired speed.
2. Press and release
SET+.
3. Take your foot off the accelerator pedal.
Note: The indicator will change color. Changing the Set Speed
•

SET+ or SET-. When
you select kph as the display
measurement in the information display,
the set speed changes in approximately
2 kph increments. When you select mph
as the display measurement in the
information display, the set speed
changes in approximately 1 mph
increments.
• Press the accelerator or brake pedal until
you reach the desired speed. Press and
release
SET+.
• Press and hold
SET+ or SET-. Release
the control when you reach the desired
speed.
Note: If you accelerate by pressing the
accelerator pedal, the set speed will not
change. When you release the accelerator
pedal, your vehicle returns to the speed that
you previously set.
Canceling the Set Speed
Press and release
CNCL or tap the brake
pedal. The set speed does not erase.

Resuming the Set Speed

Note: You erase the set speed when you

USING ADAPTIVE CRUISE
CONTROL
(If Equipped) WARNINGS
Always pay close attention to changing
road conditions when using adaptive
cruise control. The system does not replace
attentive driving. Failing to pay attention to
the road may result in a crash, serious injury
or death. Adaptive cruise control is not a crash
warning or avoidance system.
Adaptive cruise control may not detect
stationary or slow moving vehicles
below
6 mph (10 km/h). WARNINGS
Adaptive cruise control does not detect
pedestrians or objects in the road.
Adaptive cruise control does not detect
oncoming vehicles in the same lane.
Do not use the system in poor visibility,
for example fog, heavy rain, spray or
snow. Do not use adaptive cruise control on
winding roads, in heavy traffic or when
the road surface is slippery. This could result
in loss of vehicle control, serious injury or
death. Do not use adaptive cruise control
when towing a trailer that has trailer
brakes. The auto-brake component of the
adaptive cruise control system does not
operate the trailer brakes. Using adaptive
cruise control when towing a trailer that has
trailer brakes may result in the loss of vehicle
control, which could result in serious injury. WARNINGS
Do not use tire sizes other than those
recommended because this can affect
the normal operation of the system. Failure
to do so may result in a loss of vehicle
control, which could result in serious injury. The system adjusts your vehicle speed to
maintain the set gap between you and the
vehicle in front of you in the same lane.
The adaptive cruise controls are on the
steering wheel.

Setting the Adaptive Cruise Speed
1. Drive to desired speed.
2. Press and release
SET+ or SET-.
3. A green indicator light, the current gap setting and your set speed appear in the
information display.
4. Take your foot off the accelerator pedal. 5.
A vehicle graphic illuminates if there is a
vehicle detected in front of you.
Note: When adaptive cruise control is active,
the speedometer may vary slightly from the
set speed displayed in the information
display.
Following a Vehicle WARNINGS
When following a vehicle, your vehicle
does not decelerate automatically to a
stop, nor does your vehicle always
decelerate quickly enough to avoid a crash
without driver intervention. Always apply the
brakes when necessary. Failing to do so may
result in a crash, serious injury or death. WARNINGS
Adaptive cruise control only warns of
vehicles detected by the radar sensor.
In some cases there may be no warning or
a delayed warning. You should always apply
the brakes when necessary. Failure to do so
may result in a crash, serious injury or death. Note:
The brakes may emit noise when
applied by the system.
When a vehicle ahead of you enters the
same lane or a slower vehicle is ahead in the
same lane, the vehicle speed adjusts to
maintain a preset gap distance.
A vehicle graphic illuminates in the
instrument cluster.
Your vehicle maintains a consistent gap from
the vehicle ahead until:
• The vehicle in front of you accelerates to
a speed above the set speed.
• The vehicle in front of you moves out of
the lane you are in.
• Your vehicle speed falls below
12 mph
(20 km/h).
• You set a new gap distance.

The system applies the brakes to slow your
vehicle to maintain a safe gap distance from
the vehicle in front. The brake lamps
automatically turn on when the system
applies the brakes. The maximum braking
which the system applies is limited. You can
override the system by applying the brakes.
If the system determines that its maximum
braking level will not be sufficient, an audible
warning sounds when the system continues
to brake. A red warning bar displays on the
windshield and you must take immediate
action.
Note:
When you are following a vehicle and
you switch on a direction indicator, adaptive
cruise control may provide a small temporary
acceleration to help you pass. Setting the Gap Distance You can decrease or increase the distance
between your vehicle and the vehicle in front
by pressing the gap control.
Note:
It is your responsibility to select a gap
appropriate to the driving conditions. The selected gap appears in the information
display as shown by the bars in the graphic.
You can select four gap settings.
Note:
The gap setting is time dependent and
therefore the distance automatically adjusts
with your vehicle speed.
