Add coolant if necessary.
Water can be used in an emergency if coolant is unavailable.
Start the engine and turn the air conditioning system on to check that the radi-
ator cooling fans operate and to check for coolant leaks from the radiator or
hoses.
The fans operate when the air conditioning system is turned on immediately after a cold start. Confirm that the fans are operating by checking the fan sound and air flow.
If it is difficult to check these, turn the air conditioning system on and off repeatedly. (The fan may not operate in freezing temperatures.)
If the fans are not operating:
Stop the engine immediately and contact any authorized Lexus dealer or
repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional.
If the fans are operating:
Have the vehicle inspected at the nearest authorized Lexus dealer or repairer,
or another duly qualified and equipped professional.

WARNING
■When inspecting under the hood of your vehicle
Observe the following precautions. Failure to do so may result in serious injury such as burns.
●If steam is seen coming from under the h ood, do not open the hood until the steam has subsided. The engine compartment may be very hot.
●Keep hands and clothing (especially a tie, a scarf or a muffler) away from the fans and
belts. Failure to do so may cause the hands or clothing to be caught, resulting in seri- ous injury.
●RC200t: While the engine and radiators arehot, do not loosen or remove the coolant res-ervoir cap, radiator cap, or intercooler cool-
ant reservoir cap. High temperature steam or coolant couldspray out.
●RC F: While the engine and radiator are hot,do not loosen or remove the coolant reser-voir cap.

■To prevent damage to the cooling system
Observe the following precautions:
●Avoid contaminating the coolant with foreign matter (such as sand or dust etc.).
●Do not use any coolant additive.

*: If unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 98 RON is not available, unleaded gaso-
line with an octane rating of 95 RON may be used with no detriment to engine dura-
bility or driveability.
■Oil capacity (Drain an d refill [Reference*])
*: The engine oil capacity is a reference quantity to be used when changing the engine
oil. Warm up and turn off the engine, wait more than 5 minutes, and check the oil level
on the dipstick.

■Engine oil selection (RC200t)
“Toyota Genuine Motor Oil SAE 0W -20 for Downsized Turbo Gasoline
Engines” is used in your Lexus vehicl e. Use Lexus approved “Toyota Genuine
Motor Oil SAE 0W-20 for Downsized Turbo Gasoline Engines” or equiva-
lent to satisfy the following grade and viscosity.
Oil grade:
“Toyota Genuine Motor Oil SAE 0W -20 for Downsized Turbo Gasoline
Engines” or API grade SL “Energy-Co nserving”, SM “Energy-Conserving” or
SN “Resource-Conserving”; or ILSAC multigrade engine oil
Viscosity grade:
SAE 0W-20 and 5W-30
Recommended viscosity (SAE):
“Toyota Genuine Motor Oil SAE
0W-20 for Downsized Turbo Gaso-
line Engines” is filled into your Lexus
vehicle at manufacturing, and SAE
0W-20 is the best choice for good
fuel economy and good starting in
cold weather.
If SAE 0W-20 oil is not available,
SAE 5W-30 oil may be used. How-
ever, it should be replaced with SAE
0W-20 at the next oil change.
Temperature range anticipated
before next oil change.
