The installation of an RF-transmitter system in your vehicle could affect electronic sys-
tems such as:
●Hybrid system
●Multiport fuel injection system/seque ntial multiport fuel injection system
●Dynamic radar cruise control system
●Cruise control system
●Anti-lock brake system
●Vehicle dynamics integrated management
●SRS airbag system
●Seat belt pretensioner system
Be sure to check with any authorized Lexus retailer or Lexus authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer for precautionary measures or special instructions regarding installation
of an RF-transmitter system.
Further information regardin g frequency bands, power levels, antenna positions and installation provisions for the installation of RF-transmitters, is available on request at any
authorized Lexus retailer or Lexus author ized repairer, or any reliable repairer.
High voltage parts and cables on the hybrid vehicles emit approximately the same amount of electromagnetic waves as the co nventional gasoline powered vehicles or
home electronic appliances despite of their electromagnetic shielding.
Unwanted noise may occur in the reception of the radio frequency transmitter (RF-trans- mitter).

WARNING
■SRS airbag precautions
●Do not strike or apply significant levels of force to the area of the SRS airbag compo-
nents.
Doing so can cause the SRS airbags to malfunction.
●Do not touch any of the component part s immediately after the SRS airbags have
deployed (inflated) as they may be hot.
●If breathing becomes difficult after the SR S airbags have deployed, open a door or window to allow fresh air in, or leave the vehicl e if it is safe to do so. Wash off any resi-
due as soon as possible to prevent skin irritation.
●If the areas where the SRS airbags are stored, such as the steering wheel pad and front and rear pillar garnishes, are damaged or cracked, have them replaced by any
authorized Lexus retailer or Lexus author ized repairer, or any reliable repairer.
■Modification and disposal of SRS airbag system components
Do not dispose of your vehicle or perform any of the following modifications without
consulting any authorized Lexus retailer or Lexus authorized repairer, or any reliable
repairer. The SRS airbags ma y malfunction or deploy (inflate) accidentally, causing death or serious injury.
●Installation, removal, disassembl y and repair of the SRS airbags
●Repairs, modifications, removal or replacement of the steering wheel, instrument panel, dashboard, seats or seat upholstery, front, side and rear pillars or roof side rails
●Repairs or modifications of the front fender, front bumper, or side of the occupant
compartment
●Installation of a grille guard (bull bars, kangaroo bar, etc.), snow plows, winches
●Modifications to the vehicle’s suspension system
●Installation of electronic devices such as mobile two-way radios (RF-transmitter) and CD players
●Modifications to your ve hicle for a person with a physical disability

For safety and security
IS300h_EE(OM53D89E)
■If a warning light comes on, a warning message is displayed, or the 12-volt battery is dis-
connected
The hybrid system may not start. In this case, try to start the system again. If the “READY” indicator does not come on, contact any au thorized Lexus retailer or Lexus authorized
repairer, or any reliable repairer.
■Running out of fuel
When the vehicle has run out of fuel and the hybrid system cannot be started, refuel the
vehicle with at least enough gasoline to make the low fuel level warning light (P. 577)
go off. If there is only a smal l amount of fuel, the hybrid system may not be able to start. (The standard amount of fuel is about 10 L [2.7 gal., 2.2 Imp. gal.], when the vehicle is on
a level surface. This value may vary when the vehicle is on a slope. Add extra fuel when
the vehicle is inclined.)
■Electromagnetic waves
●High voltage parts and cables on hybrid ve hicles incorporate electromagnetic shield-
ing, and therefore emit approximately the same amount of electromagnetic waves as conventional gasoline powered vehicles or home electronic appliances.
●Your vehicle may cause sound interference in some third party-produced radio parts.
■Hybrid battery (traction battery)
The hybrid battery (traction battery) has a li mited service life. The lifespan of the hybrid
battery (traction battery) can change in acco rdance with driving style and driving condi-
tions.
■Declaration of conformity
This model conforms to hydrogen emission s according to regulation ECE100 (Battery
electric vehicle safety).

Operation of each component
IS300h_EE(OM53D89E)
■When riding in an aircraft
When bringing an electronic key onto an aircraft, make sure you do not press any but- tons on the electronic key while inside the airc raft cabin. If you are carrying an electronic
key in your bag etc., ensure that the button s are not likely to be pressed accidentally.
Pressing a button may cause the electronic key to emit radio waves that could interfere with the operation of the aircraft.
■Electronic key battery depletion
●The standard battery life is 1 to 2 years. (The card key battery life is about a year and a half.)
●If the battery becomes low, an alarm will so und in the cabin when the hybrid system is
stopped. ( P. 606)
●As the electronic key always receives radio waves, the battery will become depleted
even if the electronic key is not used. The following symptoms indicate that the elec-
tronic key battery may be depleted. Replace the battery when necessary. ( P. 549)
• The smart entry & start system or the wi reless remote control does not operate.
• The detection area becomes smaller.
• The LED indicator on the ke y surface does not turn on.
●To avoid serious deterioration, do not leave the electronic key within 1 m (3 ft.) of the
following electrical appliances that produce a magnetic field:
•TVs
• Personal computers
• Cellular phones, co rdless phones and battery chargers • Recharging cellular phon es or cordless phones
•Table lamps
• Induction cookers
■Replacing the battery
P. 549
■Confirmation of the registered key number
The number of keys already registered to the vehicle can be confirmed. Ask any autho- rized Lexus retailer or Lexus authorized re pairer, or any reliable repairer for details.
■If a wrong key is used
The key cylinder rotates freely to isolate inside mechanism.
1423-1. Key information
IS300h_EE(OM53D89E)
NOTICE
■To prevent key damage
●Do not drop the keys, subject them to strong shocks or bend them.
●Do not expose the keys to high temperatures for long periods of time.
●Do not get the keys wet or wash them in an ultrasonic washer etc.
●Do not attach metallic or magnetic materials to the keys or place the keys close to
such materials.
●Do not disassemble the keys.
●Do not attach a sticker or anything else to the surface of the electronic key.
●Do not place the keys near objects that produce magnetic fields, such as TVs, audio
systems and induction cookers, or medical electrical equipment, such as low-fre- quency therapy equipment.
■Carrying the electronic key on your person
Carry the electronic key 10 cm (3.9 in.) or more away from electric appliances that are turned on. Radio waves emitted from electric appliances within 10 cm (3.9 in.) of the
electronic key may interfere with the key, causing the key to not function properly.
■In case of a smart entry & start system malfunction or other key-related problems
Take your vehicle with all the electronic keys provided with your vehicle, including the
card key, to any authorized Lexus retailer or Lexus authorized repairer, or any reliable
repairer.

IS300h_EE(OM53D89E)
■Trunk light (if equipped)
The trunk light turns on when the trunk is opened.
■Function to prevent the trunk being lo cked with the electronic key inside
●When all doors are locked, closing the trunk lid with the electronic key left inside the
trunk will sound an alarm.
In this case, the trunk lid can be opened pressing the trunk release button on the trunk lid.
●If the spare electronic key is put in the trunk with all the doors locked, the key confine-
ment prevention function is activated so the trunk can be opened. In order to prevent theft, take all electronic keys with you when leaving the vehicle.
●If the electronic key is put in the trunk with all the doors locked, the key may not be
detected depending on the location of the key and the surrounding radio wave condi- tions. In this case, the key confinement prev ention function cannot be activated, causing
the doors to lock when the trunk is closed. Make sure to check where the key is before
closing the trunk.
●The key confinement prevention function cannot be activated if any one of the doors is
unlocked. In this case, open the trunk using the trunk opener.
■Using the mechanical key
The trunk can be also opened using the mechanical key. ( P. 628)
■If the smart entry & start system or the wireless remote control does not operate prop-
erly
Use the mechanical key to unlock the trunk. ( P. 628)
Replace the key battery with a new one if it is depleted. (P. 549)
■When leaving a key to the vehicle with a parking attendant
P. 140
■Customization
The trunk unlocking operation can be changed. (Customizable features: P. 657)
1583-2. Opening, closing and locking the doors and trunk
IS300h_EE(OM53D89E)
■Battery-saving function (vehicles with entry function)
The battery-saving function w ill be activated in order to prevent the electronic key bat- tery and the 12-volt battery from being discha rged while the vehicle is not in operation
for a long time.
●In the following situations, the smart entry & start system may take some time to unlock the doors.
• The electronic key has been left within approximately 2 m (6 ft.) of the outside of the
vehicle for 10 minutes or longer. • The smart entry & start system has not been used for 5 days or longer.
●If the smart entry & start system has not been used for 14 days or longer, the doors can- not be unlocked at any door except the driver ’s door. In this case, hold the driver’s door
handle, or use the wireless remote control or mechanical key, to unlock the doors.
■Electronic Key battery-Saving Function
When battery-saving mode is set, battery depletion is minimized by stopping the elec-
tronic key from receiving radio waves.
Press twice while pressing and holding
. Confirm that the electronic key indica-
tor flashes 4 times.
While the battery-saving mode is set, the smart entry & start system cannot be used. To cancel
the function, press any of the electronic key but-
tons.
