●The intrusion sensor detects intruders or movement in the vehicle.
●The tilt sensor detects changes in vehicle inclination, such as when the vehicle
is towed away.
This system is designed to deter and pr event vehicle theft but does not guarantee
absolute security against all intrusions.
■Setting the intrusion sensor and tilt sensor
The intrusion sensor and tilt sensor will be set automatically when the alarm is
set. ( P. 91)
■Canceling the intrusion sensor and tilt sensor
If you are leaving pets or other moving things inside the vehicle, make sure to
stop the intrusion sensor and tilt sensor before setting the alarm, as they will
respond to movement inside the vehicle.
Turn the power switch off.
Press the intrusion sensor and tilt
sensor cancel switch.
A message will be shown on the multi-information display in the
instrument cluster.
Press the switch again to re-enable the intrusion sensor and tilt sensor.

For safety and security
■Canceling and automatic re-enabling of the intrusion sensor and tilt sensor
●The alarm will still be set even when the intrusion sensor and tilt sensor are canceled.
●After the intrusion sensor and tilt sensor are canceled, pressing the power switch or unlocking the doors using the entry function, wireless remote control or mechanical
key will re-enable the intrusio n sensor and tilt sensor.
●The intrusion sensor and tilt sensor will automatically be re-enabled when the alarm system is deactivated.
■Intrusion sensor detection considerations (if equipped)
The sensor may trigger the alarm in the following situations:
• The movement of people outside the vehicle
●Places with extreme vibrations or noises, or situations in which the vehicle is subject to
repeated impacts or vibrations:
• When parked in a parking garage • When the vehicle is transported by a ferry, trailer, train, etc.
• When ice adhering to the vehicle is removed • When the vehicle is in an automatic or high-pressure car wash• When in a hail or lightning storm
●A window or the moon roof (if equipped) isopen. In this case, the sensor may detect the follow-
ing:
• Wind or the movement of objects such as leaves and insects inside the vehicle
• Ultrasonic waves emitted from devices such as the intrusion sensors of other vehi-cles
●Unstable items, such as dangling accessoriesor clothes hanging on the coat hooks, are inthe vehicle.

◆Smart entry & start system (vehicles with entry function)
Carry the electronic key to enable this function.
Grip the handle to unlock the
doors.
Make sure to touch the sensor on the back of the handle.
The doors cannot be unlocked for 3 seconds after the doors are locked.

■Operation signals
The emergency flashers flash to indicate that the doors have been locked/unlocked. (Locked: once; Unlocked: twice)
■Security feature
If a door is not opened within approximately 30 seconds after the vehicle is unlocked, the security feature automatically locks the vehicle again.
■Welcome light illumination control
The front position, tail and license plate lights automatically turn on at night when the doors are unlocked using the entry function or wireless remote control if the light switch is in the “AUTO” position.
■When the door cannot be locked by the lock sensor on the upper part of the door han-dle (vehicles with entry function)
■Door lock buzzer
If an attempt to lock the doors is made when a door is not fully closed, a buzzer sounds
continuously for 5 seconds. Fully close the door to stop the buzzer, and lock the vehicle once more.
■Setting the alarm
Locking the doors will set the alarm system. ( P. 91)
■If the smart entry & start system or wireless remote control does not operate properly
●Use the mechanical key to lock and unlock the doors. (P. 527)
●Replace the key battery with a new one if it is depleted. (P. 435)
If the door will not lock even when the topside sensor area is touched, try touching both thetopside and underside sensor areas at the same
time.

The trunk opener switch can be temporarily disabled to protect luggage stored
in the trunk against theft.
Turn the main switch in the glove box off
to disable the trunk opener.

The trunk lid cannot be opened even with the wireless remote control or the
trunk release button.
■Operation signals
Wireless remote control: A buzzer sounds to indicate that the trunk has been unlocked.
■Trunk light
The trunk light turns on when the trunk is opened.
■Trunk easy closer
In the event that the trunk lid is left slight ly open, the trunk easy closer will automatically close it to the fully closed position.
■Function to prevent the trunk being locked with the electronic key inside
●When all doors are being locked, closing the tr unk lid with the electronic key left inside the trunk will sound an alarm.In this case, the trunk lid can be opened pressing the trunk release button on the trunk
lid.
●Even when the spare electronic key is put in the trunk with all the doors locked, the key confinement prevention function can be activated so the trunk can be opened. In order
to prevent theft, take all electronic keys with you when leaving the vehicle.
●Even when the electronic key is put in the trunk with all the doors are locked, the key may not be detected depending on the places and the surrounding radio wave condi-
tions. In this case, the key confinement prevention function cannot be activated, causing the doors to lock when the trunk is closed. Make sure to check where the key is beforeclosing the trunk.
●The key confinement prevention function cannot be activated if any one of the doors isunlocked. In this case, open the trunk using the trunk opener.
■Overload protection function (vehicles with power trunk lid)
The trunk lid will not operate when excessive lo ad is present on the top of the trunk lid.
■Fall-down protection function (vehicles with power trunk lid)
While the trunk lid is opening automatically, applying excessive force to it will stop the
opening operation to prevent the trunk lid from rapidly falling down.

■Using the trunk
Observe the following precautions. Failure to do so may cause parts of the body to be caught, resulting in serious injury.
●Remove any heavy loads, such as snow and ice, from the trunk lid before opening it. Failure to do so may cause the trunk lid to suddenly shut again after it is opened.
●When opening or closing the trunk lid, thoroughly check to make sure the surround-
ing area is safe.
●If anyone is in the vicinity, make sure they are safe and let them know that the trunk is about to open or close.
●Use caution when opening or closing the tr unk lid in windy weather as it may move abruptly in strong wind.
●Do not attach any accessories other than genuine Lexus parts to the trunk lid. Suchadditional weight on the trunk lid may cause the lid to suddenly shut again after it is
opened.
●The trunk lid may suddenly shut if it is not opened fully. It is more difficult to open orclose the trunk lid on an incline than on a level
surface, so beware of the trunk lid unexpect- edly opening or closin g by itself. Make sure that the trunk lid is fully open and secure
before using the trunk.
●When closing the trunk lid, take extra care to prevent your fingers etc. from being caught.
●When closing the trunk lid, make sure topress it lightly on its outer surface. If the trunkgrip is used to fully close the trunk lid, it may
result in hands or arms being caught.

■Trunk easy closer
■Power trunk lid (if equipped)
Observe the following precautions when operating the power trunk lid. Failure to do so may cause serious injury.
●Check the safety of the surrounding area to make sure there are no obstacles or any-
thing that could cause any of your belongings to get caught.
●If anyone is in the vicinity, make sure they are safe and let them know that the trunk is about to open or close.
●If the trunk closer switch is pressed while the trunk lid is opening during automatic operation, the trunk lid stops opening. Take extra care when on an incline, as the trunklid may open or close suddenly.
●On an incline, the trunk lid may suddenly shut after it opens automatically. Make surethe trunk lid is fully open and secure before using the trunk.
●In the following situations, the power trunk lid may detect an abnormality and auto-
matic operation may be stopped. In this case, the trunk lid has to be operated manu- ally. Take extra care in this situation, as the stopped trunk lid may suddenly shut,causing an accident.
• When the trunk lid contacts an obstacle • When the 12-volt battery voltage suddenly drops, such as when the power switchis turned to ON mode or the hybrid system is started during automatic operation
●Do not attach any accessories other than genuine Lexus parts to the trunk lid. Thepower trunk lid may not operate, causing itse lf to malfunction, or the trunk lid may
suddenly shut again after it is opened.
■Jam protection function (vehicles with power trunk lid)
Observe the following precautions.
Failure to do so may cause serious injury.
●Never use any part of your body to intent ionally activate the jam protection function.
●The jam protection function may not work if something gets caught just before the
trunk lid fully closes. Be careful not to catch fingers or anything else in the trunk lid.
●The jam protection function may not work depending on the shape of the object that is caught. Be careful not to catch fingers or anything else.
In the event that the trunk lid is left slightly open,
the trunk easy closer will automatically close it to the fully closed position. It takes several sec-onds before the trunk easy closer begins to
operate. Be careful not to catch fingers or any- thing else in the trunk lid, as this may causebone fractures or other serious injuries.

WARNING
Observe the following precautions. Failure to do so may result in death or serious injury.
■When the vehicle is stopped
●Do not depress the accelerator pedal unnecessarily.If the shift lever is any position other than P or N, the vehicle may accelerate suddenlyand unexpectedly, causing an accident.
●In order to prevent accidents due to the vehicle rolling away, always keep depressingthe brake pedal while stopped with the “READY” indicator is illuminated, and applythe parking brake as necessary.
●If the vehicle is stopped on an incline, in order to prevent accidents caused by thevehicle rolling forward or backward, alwa ys depress the brake pedal and securely apply the parking brake as needed.
●Avoid revving or racing the engine. Running the engine at high speed while the vehicle is stopped may cause the exhaustsystem to overheat, which could result in a fire if combustible material is nearby.
■When the vehicle is parked
●Do not leave glasses, cigarette lighters, spray cans, or soft drink cans in the vehicle when it is in the sun.
Doing so may result in the following:
• Gas may leak from a cigarette lighter or spray can, and may lead to a fire. • The temperature inside the vehicle may cause the plastic lenses and plastic mate-
rial of glasses to deform or crack. • Soft drink cans may fracture, causing the contents to spray over the interior of thevehicle, and may also cause a short circuit in the vehicle’s electrical components.
●Do not leave cigarette lighters in the vehicle. If a cigarette lighter is in a place such asthe glove box or on the floor, it may be lit accidentally when luggage is loaded or the
seat is adjusted, causing a fire.
●Do not attach adhesive discs to the windshield or windows. Do not place containers such as air fresheners on the instrument panel or dashboard. Adhesive discs or con-
tainers may act as lenses, causing a fire in the vehicle.
●Do not leave a door or window open if the curved glass is coated with a metallized film such as a silver-colored one. Reflecte d sunlight may cause the glass to act as a
lens, causing a fire.
●Always apply the parking brake, shift the shift lever to P, stop the hybrid system and lock the vehicle.
Do not leave the vehicle unattended while the “READY” indicator is illuminated. If the vehicle is parked with the shift lever in P but the parking brake is not set, thevehicle may start to move, possibly leading to an accident.
●Do not touch the exhaust pipes while the “READY” indicator is illuminated or imme-diately after turning the hybrid system off.Doing so may cause burns.
