SRS airbags
◆SRS front airbags
SRS driver airbag/front passenger airbag
Can help protect the head and chest of the driver and front passenger from
impact with interior components
SRS knee airbags
Can help provide driver and front passenger protection
An SRS knee airbag for the front passenger’s seat is built into the glove box door.
◆SRS side and curtain shield airbags
SRS front side airbags
Can help protect the torso of the front seat occupants
SRS rear side airbags
Can help protect the torso of oc cupants in the rear outer seats
SRS curtain shield airbags
Can help protect primarily the head of occupants in the outer seats
The SRS airbags inflate when the vehi cle is subjected to certain types of
severe impacts that may cause significan t injury to the occupants. They work
together with the seat belts to help re duce the risk of death or serious injury.

WARNING
■SRS airbag precautions
●Do not hang coat hangers or other hard objects on the coat hooks. All of these items
could become projectiles and may cause deat h or serious injury, should the SRS cur- tain shield airbags deploy.
●If a vinyl cover is put on the area where the SRS knee airbag will deploy, be sure to
remove it.
●Do not use seat accessories which cover the parts where the SRS side airbags inflate as they may interfere with inflation of th e airbags. Such accessories may prevent the
side airbags from activating correctly, disable the system or cause the side airbags to inflate accidentally, resulting in death or serious injury.
●Do not allow anyone to kneel on the passen-
ger seat toward the door or put their head or hands outside the vehicle.
●Do not attach anything to or lean anythingagainst areas such as the dashboard, steeringwheel pad, lower portion of the instrument
panel and door of the glove box. These items can become projectiles when theSRS driver, front passenger and knee airbags
deploy.
●Do not attach anything to areas such as a door, windshield glass, side door glass, front or rearpillar, roof side rail and assist grip. (Except for
the speed limit sticker P. 516)

WARNING
■SRS airbag precautions
●Do not strike or apply significant levels of force to the area of the SRS airbag compo- nents.
Doing so can cause the SRS airbags to malfunction.
●Do not touch any of the component parts immediately after the SRS airbags have deployed (inflated) as they may be hot.
●If breathing becomes difficult after the SRS airbags have deployed, open a door orwindow to allow fresh air in, or leave the vehicle if it is safe to do so. Wash off any resi-due as soon as possible to prevent skin irritation.
●If the areas where the SRS airbags are stored, such as the steering wheel pad, door ofthe glove box and front and rear pillar garnishes are damaged or cracked, have themreplaced by any authorized Lexus retailer or Lexus authorized repairer, or any reli-
able repairer.
■Modification and disposal of SRS airbag system components
Do not dispose of your vehicle or perform any of the following modifications without
consulting any authorized Lexus retailer or Lexus authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer. The SRS airbags may malfunction or deploy (inflate) accidentally, causingdeath or serious injury.
●Installation, removal, disassembly and repair of the SRS airbags
●Repairs, modifications, removal or repl acement of the steering wheel, instrument panel, dashboard, glove box, seats or seat upholstery, front, side and rear pillars or
roof side rails
●Repairs or modifications of the front fender, front bumper, or side of the occupant compartment
●Installation of a grille guard (bull bars, kangaroo bar, etc.), snow plows or winches
●Modifications to the vehicle’s suspension system
●Installation of electronic devices such as mobile two-way radios (RF-transmitter) and
CD players
●Modifications to your vehicle for a person with a physical disability

■If the SRS airbags deploy (inflate)
●Slight abrasions, burns, bruising etc., may be sustained from SRS airbags, due to the extremely high speed deployment (inflation) by hot gases.
●A loud noise and white powder will be emitted.
●Parts of the airbag module (steering wheel hub, airbag cover and inflator) as well as theseats, the glove box, parts of the front and re ar pillars, and roof side rails may be hot for several minutes. The airbag itself may also be hot.
●The windshield may crack.
●Vehicles with ERA-GLONASS: If the SRS ai rbags deploy, the system is designed to send an emergency call* to the Public Safety Answer ing Point (PSAP), notifying them
of the vehicle’s location (without needing to push the “SOS” button) and an agent will attempt to speak with the occupants to ascertain the level of emergency and assistancerequired. If the occupants are unable to communicate, the agent automatically treats
the call as an emergency and helps to di spatch the necessary emergency services. ( P. 384)
*: In some cases, the call cannot be made. (P. 386)
■SRS airbag deployment conditions (SRS front airbags)
●The SRS front airbags will deploy in the event of an impact that exceeds the set thresh- old level (the level of force corresponding to an approximately 20 - 30 km/h [12 - 18mph] frontal collision with a fixed wall that does not move or deform).
However, this threshold velocity will be cons iderably higher in the following situations:
• If the vehicle strikes an object, such as a parked vehicle or sign pole, which can move or deform on impact
• If the vehicle is involved in an underride collision, such as a collision in which the front of the vehicle “underrides”, or goes under, the bed of a truck
●Depending on the type of collision, it is possib le that only the seat belt pretensioners will activate.
■SRS airbag deployment conditions (SRS side and curtain shield airbags)
●The SRS side and curtain shield airbags w ill deploy in the event of an impact that exceeds the set threshold level (the level of force corresponding to the impact forceproduced by an approximately 1500 kg [3300 lb.] vehicle colliding with the vehicle
cabin from a direction perpendicular to the vehicle orientation at an approximate speed of 20 - 30 km/h [12 - 18 mph]).
●The SRS side and curtain shield airbags may also deploy in the event of a severe frontal
collision.

■When to contact any authorized Lexus retailer or Lexus authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer
In the following cases, the vehicle will requ ire inspection and/or repair. Contact any
authorized Lexus retailer or Le xus authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer as soon as possible.
●Any of the SRS airbags have been inflated.
●The front of the vehicle is damaged ordeformed, or was involved in an accident that
was not severe enough to cause the SRS front airbags to inflate.
●A portion of a door or it’s surrounding area isdamaged or deformed, or the vehicle was
involved in an accident that was not severe enough to cause the SRS side and curtainshield airbags to inflate.
●The pad section of the steering wheel, dash-board near the front passenger airbag, lowerportion of the instrument panel or door of the
glove box is scratched, cracked, or otherwise damaged.
1363-1. Key information
GS450h_300h_OM_OM30F92E_(EE)
■When required to leave the vehicle’s key with a parking attendant
Turn the trunk opener main switch off and lock the glove box as circumstances demand. ( P. 148, 370)
Remove the mechanical key for your own use and provide the attendant with the elec- tronic key only.
■If you lose your mechanical keys
New genuine mechanical keys can be made by any authorized Lexus retailer or Lexus authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer using the other mechanical key and the keynumber stamped on your key number plate. K eep the plate in a safe place such as your
wallet, not in the vehicle.
■When riding in an aircraft
When bringing an electronic key onto an aircraft, make sure you do not press any but-
tons on the electronic key while inside the ai rcraft cabin. If you are carrying an electronic key in your bag etc., ensure that the buttons are not likely to be pressed accidentally.Pressing a button may cause the electronic key to emit radio waves that could interfere
with the operation of the aircraft.
■Electronic key battery depletion
●The standard battery life is 1 to 2 years. (The card key battery life is about a year and a
half.)
●If the battery becomes low, an alarm will sound in the cabin when the hybrid system stops. ( P. 496)
●As the electronic key always receives radio waves, the battery will become depleted even if the electronic key is not used. The following symptoms indicate that the elec-tronic key battery may be depleted. Replace the battery when necessary. ( P. 435)
• The smart entry & start system or the wireless remote control does not operate. • The detection area becomes smaller.
• The LED indicator on the key surface does not turn on.
●To avoid serious deterioration, do not leave the electronic key within 1 m (3 ft.) of the
following electrical appliances that produce a magnetic field:
•TVs •Personal computers
• Cellular phones, cordless phones and battery chargers • Recharging cellular phones or cordless phones• Table lamps
• Induction cookers
■Replacing the battery
P. 435
■Confirmation of the registered key number
The number of keys already registered to the vehicle can be confirmed. Ask any autho- rized Lexus retailer or Lexus authorized repa irer, or any reliable repairer for details.
■If a wrong key is used
The key cylinder rotates freely to isolate inside mechanism.
1483-2. Opening, closing and locking the doors and trunk
GS450h_300h_OM_OM30F92E_(EE)
The trunk opener switch can be temporarily disabled to protect luggage stored
in the trunk against theft.
Turn the main switch in the glove box off
to disable the trunk opener.
On
Off
The trunk lid cannot be opened even with the wireless remote control or the
trunk release button.
■Operation signals
Wireless remote control: A buzzer sounds to indicate that the trunk has been unlocked.
■Trunk light
The trunk light turns on when the trunk is opened.
■Trunk easy closer
In the event that the trunk lid is left slight ly open, the trunk easy closer will automatically close it to the fully closed position.
■Function to prevent the trunk being locked with the electronic key inside
●When all doors are being locked, closing the tr unk lid with the electronic key left inside the trunk will sound an alarm. In this case, the trunk lid can be opened pressing the trunk release button on the trunk
lid.
●Even when the spare electronic key is put in the trunk with all the doors locked, the key confinement prevention function can be activated so the trunk can be opened. In order
to prevent theft, take all electronic keys with you when leaving the vehicle.
●Even when the electronic key is put in the trunk with all the doors are locked, the key may not be detected depending on the places and the surrounding radio wave condi-
tions. In this case, the key confinement prevention function cannot be activated, causing the doors to lock when the trunk is closed. Make sure to check where the key is beforeclosing the trunk.
●The key confinement prevention function cannot be activated if any one of the doors isunlocked. In this case, open the trunk using the trunk opener.
■Overload protection function (vehicles with power trunk lid)
The trunk lid will not operate when excessive lo ad is present on the top of the trunk lid.
■Fall-down protection function (vehicles with power trunk lid)
While the trunk lid is opening automatically, applying excessive force to it will stop the
opening operation to prevent the trunk lid from rapidly falling down.
